Visual Sound Cues for Hearing Impaired?

I am not deaf, but only have like 5% hearing in my left ear, which basically screws me when it comes to determining sound directionality and audio tracking. I can hear things, but generally not at all where the source of the sound is, and 3D headphones are pretty much useless. I really like playing as Spirit, but feel like I am a massive disadvantage with her, and in general with many others.

I'm sure I am not the only person with this sort of impairment, and it can be enormously frustrating.

Has there been any consideration given to adding in some sort of visual cue (even just a subtle indication at the peripheries of the screen) for player generated sounds?

Is there an equipment solution I might not be aware of?
