Subtle cheat detecting tips?

To preface, the match was awful, 2 gens popped waaaaay too quickly at the start, and the survs were unusually aggressive. :') So I post this with a dash of salt but hoping to improve.

2 people were hooked and 2 were on gens. The final gen popped right after Kate was unhooked, and the Kate unhooked the Ace while I chased the Meg who unhooked Kate.

I don't often consider running into cheaters, but I timed it; it was 22-23 seconds after the final gen popped. That's barely enough time for the unaccounted for Megalodon #2 to get all the way across Ormond to the door and open it without Wake Up.

Is there a possibility it was subtle speed boosts, or did I simply get sh1t on as Hag lol? And what tips do you have for spotting subtle cheats in the future?

    Record if you can.

it's literally something I do every match. If it isn't a cheater, maybe you find yourself in a youtube-career, if you find a cheater, you have content for your youtube, win/win :P

But yes, it's actually good advice, it often helps for timings, and sometimes you spot weird stuff in the background. You also can upload it and show other people, some know stuff you won'T.

Absolutely! I did manage to get that portion of the match, I watched it over and that's how I timed it because it just seemed so odd that the gate opened that quickly. But I'm not really good with remembering the numbers aspects of the game (time to open gate, heal times, speeds etc), so that's why I posted so I can be better and get input on how to tell if someone's cheating vs. I got outplayed. :)

If you gain Bloodlust but you still can catch up to someone and they always seem the same distance away from you they're cheating and you can tell if you can easily catch up to the other 3 survivors but you can't for one of them. I seen too many subtle speed hacks but wallhacks you can't tell easily sadly and finally auto dead hard cheaters they never miss it and as soon as you want to hit them it triggers if someone keeps doing prefect on hit dead hard all match long it's a cheat mostly

Man, it would be best if you just didn't even get into it like that. You're going to think a good portion of your games have hackers in it when it could have all just been an unfortunate string of events.

For sure, I understand. I've just never had gens or door opening pop so fast in the years I've been playing. That's the only reason I even considered it might be a subtle cheat. It was just so odd.

I reported a hacker with obvious proof and a few weeks later nothing happened, that promotes people feeling confident hacking, knowing there's a chance of you not getting banned even when someone makes a ticket with proof againts you.

In this specific instance it's hard to say without watching the footage. It doesn't sound too sus though.

For the rest, closet hackers usually run nom obvious speedhacks, some form of walls and some action speed buffs. You'll notice you'll have a hard time catching up at loops and they usually win every 50/50.

If you think gens are going too fast then tinkerer could help out with that as you can time how fast the gen finishes after it triggers.

Usually if it feels like I'm going up against 8 survivors I start getting a little suspicious.

I'm pretty good with keeping track of survivor positions. I recently had a match where I was chasing someone on one side of the map, was aware and saw two survivors on a gen on my side of the map so only one survivor was unaccounted for, and then on the opposite side 2 gens popped. Keep in mind this all happened in under 10 seconds. To me, it was a little fishy.

Other things that raise my suspicions is feeling like you can never catch up. I also had a match recently that with one survivor in specific they seemed to be moving the same speed as me because even in open areas I simply couldn't catch up. So I feel like there was a high chance that there was some subtle hacking.

It's unfortunate however, that you can't really tell nowadays what's subtle hacking or what is truly being outplayed. I just try to go off my gut feeling if something feels unusual. But I don't report or accuse unless I see for sure something that's blatant hacking.

Run a clock that tracks down to the milisecond next to your game and learn how long it takes for Survivors to reach distances, like "That survivor should take x amount of time to reach that wall without the use of perks", and do the same for each kind of perk. Overtime you just get used to and memorize timing for pretty much everything, and then you can catch "subtle" cheating very easily.

    My time to shine

Here's a list of things to look out for when it comes to subtle cheaters:

    1) Subtle cheaters tend to run typical meta perks to try and blend in with normal players, however often times they'll actually be running more perks than 4. Keep an eye on what they do in the match and (in your head) note down what perks you've seen them use. If you've seen someone dead hard, have BT, DS you and have no pain sounds then you 100% know they don't have any other perk at their disposal except for maybe boons, speaking of

    2) Pay attention to what Boons are in a match and check the scoreboard - many cheaters will appear to only be running 1 boon perk but they will be running multiple. If you suspect a shadow step or expontential boon is in play, make note of it and check the scoreboard

    3) Subtle cheaters typically only use their speedhacks when they round corners, to make it appear like the chase is continuing normally and you're just behind. In actuality they are speeding up when you can't see them. This is the most common form of subtle cheating

    4) Subtle cheaters almost never play passively - they will be in your face and constantly pestering you for attention, for obvious reasons.

    5) If you somehow lose a survivor with no trace, make a note of it and, once again, check their perks in the endgame to see if you can make sense of it. Parental Guidance for example might make someone appear like they've just disappeared when in actuality they just used the removed tracking to hide somewhere

Since I stream whenever I play, Nightbot starts a timer every single match. That alone is a huge help in determining if someone is cheating or time has slipped away from you. I had a gen pop in 30 seconds at the beginning of one match, yet Bitter Murmur showed only one survivor and I was near two others. The fourth was actually not far from where I was, but still nowhere near the gen that had popped.

Cheaters also LOVE Self Care. That doesn't mean be suspicious of everybody that uses it. Just keep note of any suspected cheater's place on the map, if they're with somebody, if a Boon is in play, etc. They always expose themselves with their Self Care speed if you pay attention to them.

I had someone showing off their cheats to me, they could turn scratch marks on/off on command and break chase whenever they wanted. It's extremely difficult to notice all these subtle cheaters in game but I bet there's more than anyone thinks.

I caught an SWF once because rancor revealed their auras right as a gen popped, one was on hook and one was downed. The downed guy got up without unbreakable/adrenaline/soulguard and no one was near him.

You hit almost every nail on the head with this one. Unfortunately I didn't get the whole match, just the end, so there's no way for a full and accurate evaluation.

All I can do at this point is take the L and be more vigilant from the start with everyone's input.
