Good luck. I only played acoustic guitar a little when I was younger and yeah, it is tough for the fingers when you start.
But it will get better don't worry.

Good luck. Instruments need some practise.
I am a keys guy.
Take a look a Davie504 and Charles Berthoud on YT. Great Bass players.

I play acoustic guitar (saving up for an electric), the fingers hurt at first but you get used to it. I know that bass takes a little longer to get used to, but just stick with it :)

ditto.
I started around a month ago.
edit: this isn't my best bass playing, but I was happy with the recording.
edit 2: I feel the need to point out that I've been playing a variety of instruments for over 7 years. please don't be discouraged.

try mandolin.
It really builds callouses.

I got this old acoustic that is really hard to push down the string

New strings, maybe?

Smart idea, stopped using da acoustic in favor of the elctric tho

I've got a few connections who've been playing guitar professionally for quite a while. If you wanted, I could ask if they've got any tips?
I was joking about mandolin because the strings are set up like this:
those strings tear through callouses. I've been playing Mando for 8 years, and my fingers still get shredded whenever I play.
