Why everyone happy about CoH "nerf"? It's not even nerf
Firstly it was 16 seconds to selfheal, now it will take 21 seconds. Do you guys really think this will affect the problems CoH has? Spoiler alert: No.
The survivors still have a perk that makes the WHOLE MECHANIC in the game free without requiring anything in return. And not even for me, but for the WHOLE TEAM. I don't need a medkit to be healthy. I don't need to look for a teammate. I don't need a selfcareer that takes a perk slot. I just take one perk and the whole team doesn't need anything of the it at all.
3 extra seconds does not solve this issue. Yeah, it's better than nothing, but it's not the way it should be

At least now it takes longer to bless a totem and self heal than it does to use self-care.

Not all of us are blind.
4 -
It takes 1 survivor to bless a totem that can be used by everyone for a long time unless you actively search for them wasting time = gens are done
21 -
Because it's better than nothing at all.
Now they just need to address the other part of what is actually wrong with COH and boons as a whole. If they did that the healing speed would probably be fine.
5 -
Their reluctance to give boons different conditions like hex perks have makes me believe they are just copy pasting the same line of code with a tweak for the different conditions.
To much effort to change it i guess, so they just keep hitting the heal speed and hope people shut up.

Agreed. It’s still a huge benefit to the team with no real drawback. And the time it takes for a killer to find and cleanse it is time that killers don’t have in the current meta.
7 -
It just needs a life span, i don't care if they can self heal in 2 seconds or 15 seconds, it's the fact that it is endless.
The boon needs to to fizzle after 3,4,5 uses. Then they have to use a different totem. Easy and balanced.
8 -
Survivor mains fearmomgering that an amazing perk is somehow "dead".
Honestly really tired of survivor players considering how much this game is in your favor if you just think while you play.
9 -
I would say the nerf it received is huge. It went from 16 to 21 to full selfcare speed. Yea it sucks to see people getting healed but I would also say thats a good thing they either wasted 32 secs healing themselves or had another teammate help them which means thats two survivors not on gens.

I like the nerf. It's what I wanted

Boons sucked to begin with. It's literally just an open invite to get SMACKED with NoED. I have been caught with NoED more times since boon totems came out than ever before. Not to mention how toxic the booning players are when it comes to the totems, literally bodyblocking you into a spot if they're able to--or fake unhooking you until you die--or leaving you for dead--or sandbagging you all because you've cleansed one of their precious totems.
Boons should just be removed, thats my honest opinion. They were not a good decision to begin with.

I've yet to see anyone who was happy with it.

The regressive healing will help killers who can apply pressure with COH in play

I don't use CoH so it doesn't affect me regardless, but I think it's still an absolute asset for coordinated swfs. Solo queuers might not bring it as much now though unless part of an altruistic build. Self care is 32 seconds, CoH will now be 21 seconds plus the additional time to find a totem and then bless it in the first place. But if another survivor, or two, help heal you then it's still super fast. It's definitely a nerf but not as bad as lots of people are saying. Swfs will 100% still bring it and coordinate heals/resets.
1 -
Its at least something but I agree it wont be enough until boons main issue is fixed, which is the fact they can be infinitely used with no real downside.
Also the fact there are some broken totem spawns survivors can abuse makes it even better.
Even if it was nerfed to take 32 seconds to self heal,it will still be better than self care.

Personally I'm waiting to see it actually in action before I join with either the "sky is falling" or the "this nerf is useless" crowd. I realize that's just nuts, waiting to see how something turns out before judging it, just how I roll, lol.
4 -
No one is actually happy about this, because it doesn't address any of the actual problem of those.
4 -
Hi you've found someone 🏃🏻
8 -
In a game where time is the most necessary component in balancing, surely running out of time isn't a problem. *sarcasm
As Killers you should all know by now that claudettes that self-care in a corner drags a team down faster than a dwight who never shows up to unhook, the other one is doing gen and the other isn't.
Unless we're talking about SWF COH is already dead.
1 -
No it started with 16 seconds then 19 seconds and now 21 seconds.
2 -
Blessing a totem isn't instant. The 14-28 seconds to bless has to be added to the overall heal time.
0 -
Hopefully it's good enough to still be used as my fourth perk otherwise it'll be back to Ironwill/Resilience/Unbreakable and just rushing gens injured.
1 -
If CoH gets nerfed more, survivors will just rush the Gens without booning totems and I’m sure that’s not what killers want 😬
2 -
Killers will always complain about any healing perk that looks worthwhile. Even if you do the math for them and explain how situational a guarenteed advantage is, they just dont care at all. Ignorance is the killers best friend.
1 -
True, but at the same time, it only has to be done once for all team members to benefit. So that first heal will take longer, but each other heal won't.
1 -
It is not full selfcare speed yet - it is selfcare speed PLUS 50% bonus speed, so around 21,3 seconds , still much better than Selfcare
2 -
Survivors will stop using it. It only has a 14% use rate right now anyway, with Self-Care being as 21% (Which probably comes from low levels of play). I don't think it deserved the nerf when you actually look at how much it's used and how much time it takes to actually use the perk. It's a meta perk but it's no over-powered by any means.
My guess is we'll see a return to the gen speed meta, with resilience and adrenaline replacing coh.

I really want to see where you are getting these numbers. I believe you, I just want something to read while I wait for my flight.
Also, just to note. Self care is free, CoH requires you to purchase Mikaela. I honestly think that makes a bigger difference in use than people give credit for. I mean, If you are just starting out playing, there are so many dlc characters that you're not likely to get them all, or even most of them. I don't think CoH has been in the shrine (could be wrong) but even that requires a lot more shards than your average player who is just starting out is likely to have.

Since BHVR is so secretive about stats, I get them off a site that datamines them. It's imperfect but at least gives me a better idea on what's happening with DbD than what BHVR is will to give out. I don't understand the stinginess with data on BHVRs part, it just causes datamining website to pop up and give out the data you're unwilling to give out...
2 -
Thanks 👍 I don't get it either, the lack of official data just creates a space for bullshit to propagate.
0 -
well its start i guess?
maybe nerf CoH and maybe they might just rework the whole boon system later because its the pinnacle of bs
0 -
I also think that CoH sees a lot more play at high levels of play and at higher levels of play, there's less people.
Another reason I wish DbD would release stats, because I'd love to see the kill rates of the Nurse at High, Mid and Low levels of play.
1 -
Becuz it better than no nerf
0 -
You know what data I really want?
I have a theory that most of the "meta" is just bullshit made up by streamers, and unquestioningly picked up by their fans. To see if I'm right, I want to see the perk usage specifically after a video is made about it. So if Otz or Scott or whoever makes a video talking about a perk, does usage jump up?
0 -
I guarantee it does.
Tell me something, how are you using flashbangs effectively? I've tried them several times and don't seem to have luck with them. I was thinking I could hit a Killer with a flashbang at the end of a Sprint Burst but the timing doesn't seem right.
1 -
The timing is tricky, generally I'll do one of three things.
1. Drop a pallet, wait until the killer starts kicking it, then drop the grenade and run.
2. Drop it right on a downed Survivor. Start the heal before we're all blinded.
3. Pop out of the locker, drop the bomb, jump back in.
There's other times to, I find a 3 count helps zero in on the timing.
0 -
That's still better than rushing gens AND healing infinitely fast.
4 -
All that healing time is going to go to gens now. Each heal not taken from CoH is 1/4, each boon not lit is another 1/4 more of a gen completed. Plus you have to realize how much faster gens will go with the gen speed perk people will be replacing CoH with.
Think about that, each time someone brings a boon into a game, that's automatically 1/2 of a gen not done.
0 -
Just found out they nerfed it again. I'm assuming that's what you're happy about?
0 -
Ok, the pallet I like.
How does dropping it on a downed survivor then start healing them good though?
Finally, does dropping a flashbang out of a locker cause you to escape a killer if they grab you out of the locker? That's nifty.
0 -
I had it on all my survivors and was that annoying kid that blessed the totem 5 times. I will miss it.
0 -
It's usually good when a killer is slugging and you just need a bit to pick your teammate back up. A lot of killers wait out or turn around on the blind, so it buys a bit of time.
Yes, If you time it right you pop out right before they grab, leave your present, and hop back in. The reason I hop back in? The killer always runs off, I figure they think I'm using the blind to get away, so they go looking. I've only had 1 where they opened the locker.
0 -
yeah the new nerf + new sloppy makes sadako very happy
0 -
the boon system is fine.
0 -
No? Coh has been more or less net positive for survivors no matter what, it's only detrimental when survivors are bad enough to make it negative.
2 -
The old CoH was a net positive. But not that big of a net positive. CoH is way overhyped. It's only used about 14% of the time.
0 -
to healing others
0 -
It's not really a nerf, I've always said the totem should be destroyed when snuffed and THEN it would be nerfed.
1 -
The problem there is no other Boon is used that way except Exponential. The other two are passive "stand in boon area, get no scratch marks/ extra speed".
You can't change CoH in a way that causes it to work completely differently from other Boons.
0 -
Well you can you just add charges to the amount of times it can be used.
Say to fully heal from wounded to healthy takes 100 charges, and CoH has a total of 300 charges before it fizzles.
That way you can half heal etc and not use a full charge etc.
