Original chapters, licensed chapters, and what they mean to you

Original chapters are what I look forward to most.
for me, I love licensed chapters but after they get released they are usually forgotten about for months or years at a time before they get anything and with the risk of the license getting removed like the stranger things, it's hard to not like the original content more than the licensed chapters (Content that the devs make and has way more creative liberties, more outfits, and often is the most balanced)

Licensed chapters are what I look forward to most.
I used to be indifferent - but I noticed a trend.
Look at the strongest, most interesting perks in the game.
Look at the strongest, most interesting killers in the game.
Now look at the fun ones - who are the fun killers to play as and against.
Who are the most creative killers, most creative perks?
I feel like, although given unbridled creative liberties - Behavior always brings their A game when pulling an outside IP into the game.
Nemesis really is a truly interesting killer who looks awesome. The perks are off meta, but actually fun to use.
This goes all the way back to Meyers and Cannibal.
Meta? No. Best perks ever? No.
Fun? Yes. Enjoyable perks? Yes.
I'll do three examples for you:
The 3 OG Licensed killers with their parallels at the time:
Licensed: Shape, Nightmare, Cannibal
Original: Hag, Doctor, Huntress
Neck and neck for interesting and fun.
2 years ago:
Licensed: Ghostface, Demogorgon, Executioner
Original: Oni, Plague, Deathslinger
The Licensed killers are more fun to play, while the Original ones are generally much stronger (especially at release!) But when Executioner first came out especially - they were considered one of the most enjoyable to play as, even while the Oni and the Plague were prominent in the meta.
Most Recent 3 killers:
Licensed: Onryo, Cenobite, Nemesis
Original: Artist, Trickster, Twins
Do you remember when the Trickster and the Twins came out? Reviled as some of the weakest killers on release - only played because they were broken and had built-in exploits. Perks so strong they broke the game and had to be tweaked so that Nurse didn't run away with them - powers so boring that people complained endlessly.
Onryo was recent - but do you remember this past year when Cenobite and Nemesis came out? Fun, ingenuity in powers that brought new perspectives to the game. Hyper entertaining moris and community love. Off meta perks that were fun.
It looks to me like Behavior are going in a certain direction:
All of the interesting, cool, and FUN stuff is in the licensed content.
All of the Meta and unfun stuff is in the original content.

I prefer original chapters to licensed ones. Licensed chapters are ok, but they're not as interesting imo.

I'm indifferent. I'm almost always excited for new content.
They always leave the final girls out of licenses and they never get new content original ones are better

Licensed chapters are what I look forward to most.
Licensed Killers bring in a sense of nostalgia (depending on the license, Shape and Onryō bring that feeling for me) and just make the game feel more interesting as a whole for me. Being chased by Michael Myers, Ghostface and Onryō are so much cooler because they're literal horror icons. I love speculating about what the next crossover could be, and Killers like Slender Man would just be so awesome to see in the game.
On the other hand, licensing is a very tricky subject. Licensed chapters seem to halt for periods of time. For example, the Halloween Chapter only just received some new skins after being in the game for so long. Nightmare on Elm Street Chapter literally has zero in the store and then we have the Stranger Things chapter being retracted with no word on whether or not it'll return.
This is the only downside to licensed content, but I still much prefer seeing iconic faces in this game. Original content is very cool and creative, but I got into the game from seeing the licenses it has, it's what keeps me playing.

I don't know if I'm indifferent nescesarily, I just like both of them for different reasons.
I like original chapters cause it gives the devs complete creative freedom, and I don't have to spend actual money on those chapters.
Liscensed chapters are fun because I always enjoy seeing how the devs adapt different IPs into the game.
