Why do survivors get a head start?
I'm still genuinely confused as to why survivors get a head start by spawning right on top of gens if you don't run corrupt. There are times when I question why the game doesn't just start at 3 gens to complete because the first 2 gens will almost always pop regardless of what you do (unless the survivors are absolute potatoes). I could understand if one survivor always spawned within the line of sight of the killer and you were almost always getting an early hook to compensate. But instead it's just the killer who starts on the back foot immediately and this doesn't change until at least 1 survivor is dead (most times this has to happen before the 3rd gen pops).

It’s to your advantage if survivors do the outer gens first in most cases. Do you want them to play hide and seek until you find one first or?

Because there are 4 survivors & 7 Gens & 5 totems, which none of them supposed to spawn close to each other.
But for a map that has 10.000m square. To make all of them (16 subjects) spawn away from each other, each of them would own 10.000 / 16 = 625m square.
The furthest possible for them to spawn spread out is 25m.

I'm not telling survivors not to gens or to hide. I'm questioning the game design. If 2 gens will pop, sometimes before you even see your first survivor on big maps, what's the point? There's no interaction between either side in this scenario. I just don't see how that is healthy gameplay.

hold this up vote for coming with the numbers

Math probably checks out, also with the fact that the devs are kind of locked into catering to survivors, especially new survivors, to make sure people understand and like the game, considering a large majority of people play survivor instead of killer.
Things will always be unfair in certain aspects for killers and survivors, the devs will almost always prefer to counter that unfairness with something else new and interesting rather than try to change the game over and over until they get it perfect. <3

I look at it like chess. The action doesn't start in chess until midgame gets rolling with most openings being published and well analyzed with the players playing these moves instantly without thought. But there is a reason to have the players go through this "less interesting" phase. The players get to form the battleground that they will fight on in the latter parts of the game. This feels so similar to dbd.
The first 2 gens, and first 2 minutes of the match are largely, the survivors trying to get gens done quickly, with the killer trying to push the survivors towards their eventual 3 gen, or herd them away from a totem spawn etc. This early phase is the strategic part of the game and decisions here will often determine how the end of the match resolves.

I have an idea to make both side have equal start. But I know it will never happens:
- Survivors always spawn at Gates. Either 1-3 or 2-2 formation.
- Killer spawn between 2 Gates, but has to be at least 80m away from both Gates
- Killer can see 2 Gates aura for 7sec
This way, Killer can always know where to go and start a chase immediately. While Survivor may prefer to hide in case Killer comes to their Gate, or doing Gen near their Gate risking Killer coming.

The problem with the analogy is the reality that most good survivors do not allow themselves to get 3 gen'ed and even if they do, if COH is in play, the 3 gen means almost nothing (and if 2 survivors are already dead by this point, you don't need a 3 gen anyway). The only true slow down is dead survivors.

Those 'benefits' do not outweigh the costs of survivors spawning like that. It in no way favors the killer. At least make them run a couple steps to get to the gens. They're literally spawning on them.
