Rifts for noobs

Hei!

This is my 1st rift, I've started playing durin it, so I am wondering if this is an occasional thing or does a new one start when the last one ends?

Any other things you'd find relevant rift-related, let me know, I don't know virtually anything about them (except that the lore is great). :D

since their introduction shortly after one rift closes another one opens. I think it’s always tied to midchapter updates (as the content of the rifts do require a client sided update), and it usually opens the Wednesday after a Midchapter release.

you can progress through the (free) track of the rift and once you are sure it is worth 1000 auric cells you can unlock the paid track and immediately get all the rewards up to the level you progressed to. If you reach the end of a rift, the paid track gives you 1000 auric cells back and if you play a lot (like me) then you only have to pay once and then you get each rift.

If you play both killer and survs there are easier ways through the tome to get the rift fragments to progress in the rift.

These bigger master challenges are often more difficult but can mostly be avoided. All challenges stay after the tome is closed. So they can still be done later for the bloodpoints.

Only the active tome gives you rift fragments to progress - not if you do old ones! I did not know that when i started.

You also get rift fragment just from playing.

A rift cycle is 70 days. Cosmetics often take a good amount of time but then get mostly available in the store but recolored.

Welcome aboard! Just FYI even though the current Rift is "closing" today, all the challenges from the current tome and all the past tomes are available in the archives and you can still get all the bonus bloodpoints from them. Also completed challenges in old tomes still opens their journal pages to listen to. (The journals are actually maybe my favorite part of the tomes honestly.) The only thing the Rift closing does is you can't get access to the special cosmetic items in it. So there's no rush on doing tomes unless you really, really wanted some particular costume or charm or whatever.

Also even though the Rift and Tome chapters come out together, you automatically gain levels in the Rift simply by playing the game. So even if you are doing old Tome challenges or no challenge at all you'll still gain progress in the current Rift if there is one.

Thank you everyone, I've already completed this rift fully, it was easier (imo) to do the character related big quests (i.e. Pig and Tapp), but I guess it depends on the rift more than not, can't wait for the next rift then, I've noticed the "pay the pass once get 1000 back pay for the next pass" thingy, pretty cool what the devs did there if you ask me, again, thank you! :D

Another thing: you can save up single challenges that you have done and don’t need to progress to the end of the tome level. That way you can save up bloodpoints for when you get a new character or for an event or something.

@CashelP14 usually makes a thread for the best path to save up challenge but still getting to the end of a level. Here is an example for the current one:
