All new changes | April Midchapter | DBD 5.7.0 PTB
the beginning
Hi.
You may know me as the guy that says he copy and pastes all of his intros, but he realises that actually they sound really bad like that and so subtly changes them each time, from summarising dev streams, or for being "rude and mean" for not upvoting an idea I fundamentally disagree with due to it creating an incredibly pay-2-win environment, but a little known hobby of mine is also collecting and compiling all of the changes in a PTB to help people playing on consoles, or who are away from a consistent source of internet at the moment, understand exactly what changes have taken place, and see all of the new changes!
Massive shoutout to @Sowbug for joining me and allowing the gameplay to be filmed effectively.
This post has been baking for about 6 hours now, so without further hesitation my name is GoodBoyKaru (GBK for short), and here is everything that is new on the 5.7.0 PTB.
patch notes | April Midchapter | 5.7.0 Public test build
So, for anyone that likes to read, here's the link to the official patch notes on this PTB:
Trying out different formatting this time round, let me know how it looks. If it's decent I'll probably keep it and start having some fun with the titles.
killer reworks | the legion
power
Legion's Feral Frenzy has received a bit of a change. It functions mostly the same as before, with 2 key differences:
- The Legion gains 0.2m/s movement speed for each fresh survivor hit during Feral Frenzy (up to a maximum of +0.8m/s), meaning they can now travel at a maximum speed of 6m/s.
- The 5th chained hit of Feral Frenzy will instantly put the survivor into the Dying State, ending Feral Frenzy.
add-ons
The Legion also got some new add-ons, which can be seen in the patch notes, but can also be seen here much easier. So here's every single Legion add-on as of 5.7.0
music
Best friend Leg got some new music this patch, check it out here:
Honestly, I really really like it. Reminds me of some absolute bangers that I still listen to lol. Frank's Mix Tape and Fuming Mix tape are absolutely the worst of the lot though. Like Joey's and Susie's and Julie's are all so much better it's not even funny.
killer reworks | the ghost face
power
Ghost Face's power got some slight tweaks, and some major bugfixes. His reveal and stalk mechanic have been technically revisited to ensure proper compatability with current dedicated servers, bugs relating to revealing have been fixed, and finally two changes have been made to the Marked mechanic:
- A Marked survivor is marked for 60s, up from 45s.
- A Marked survivor is unable to reveal Ghost Face by normal means. Cancelling his power through a stun or making him miss a swing still works, however.
addons
Ghost Face also got a full add-on pass! Here's all of his add-ons:
music
Like our best friend The Leg, Ghost Face also got some new music! Check it out here:
Personally, it makes me ears bleed but here we are.
The realm beyond | haddonfield
Our favourite map, Haddonfield, has received a change, both graphically and gameplay wise. Here's a video of me taking a lovely stroll around on my customised Ultra Plus graphics and, yes, I did disable my colourblind and monitor-correction filters so this is how it is supposed to look:
Perk changes | Boil over, Circle of healing
Boil Over has received a change:
Boil Over now increases wiggle effectiveness by 60%/70%/80%, from 50%/75%/100%, to streamline perk levels and help reduce issues console players would face with the perk. Wiggling will receive further changes later on.
Boon: Circle of Healing has also received a change:
Boon: Circle of Healing now increases all healing speeds by 40%/45%/50%, down from 65%/70%/75% to help reduce the effectiveness of the perk.
status reworks | haemmorhage
Haemmorhage has also received a much needed rework! It now regresses any healing progress at a rate of 7% per second, taking ~14 seconds to fully regress. Apparently though I've found a bug; here is it taking a minute:
Subsequently, Sloppy Butcher (generic perk) and Z-Block (Freddy add-on) have been changed. Here they are:
Z-Block now inflicts Haemmorhage for 90 seconds, up from 60, however healthy survivors no longer bleed.
Sloppy Butcher now increases the speed at which healing regresses thanks to Haemmorhage. Please note that this 15%/20%/25% applies to the 7%, it doesn't make it regress at 32%.
other changes | difficulty update, engine update, patching
A couple more quick-fire changes:
- Difficulties have been reworked! Survivors no longer have a difficulty, and killers are now ranked from Easy to Very Hard.
Easy killers are fairly straight forward to pick up and play.
Moderate killers share a lot of similarities to easy killers, however involve a few special mechanics or are more mechanically intensive.
Hard killers have a couple of exclusive special mechanics and would be difficult to just pick up and play.
Very Hard killers are almost mechanically unique and would be difficult to see success with without lots of practice as them or many others to understand killer fundamentals.
If people want me to check the difficulty of a certain character, let me know and I'll reply with it.
- The Engine has been updated! We now are playing in Unreal 4.27, which will hopefully help optimisations further down the line too (though nothing has been confirmed).
- Downloads have been streamlined! "Pak" files have been changed to ensure that downloads and overall patching time are faster in the future (this will however need an almost full-game re-download).
the ending
And that concludes this summary. Once again, massive shoutout to @Sowbug for joining me in recording the gameplay and making having actual clips of it possible. Really appreciate this one man.
So here's some actual gameplay on the PTB to see these things in action:
And that's all. Have a good day folks

Couldn't find the official PTB notes anywhere and found your thread going over everything. Really nice 👌 to see.
Also the difficulty for each killer may as well list every killer under easy, another under moderate, etc, etc.

i would but i forgot and now im back on live so my plan was if someone was curious to use the wiki (which should be updated in a couple days) or ask my bf to tell me bc he's gonna stay on PTB as long as possible playing Leg
(sow is not my bf for clarification)

Interesting stuff.
Extremely curious to see how the new reveal mechanics play out. Hopefully they don't come to a nerf.

I absolutely love most of the changes seen so far. I especially like Haddonfield, how large and detailed certain aspects are, and I actually like how dark certain spots are. It gives it a horror game feel to it. It might even be my new favorite map.

Legion's new addons are mostly just...eh, but there are a couple of good ones and the new music is phenomenal!
1 -
Quality content as always! Glad I could help out!

I don't like the loss of most of the cool-down/duration add-ons and stolen sketch book makes no sense as the FF cool-down penalty on basic attacks don't make sense with his current iteration let alone reducing it.

Undying/Ruin and Clown switch bottle bugs are never gonna get fixed, are they

You are a legend. Just when I think I may quit this game, we get a GoodboyKaru post, and I think ....
Well #########, once more into the breach!

Thank you for taking the time to do this. 😁

Amazing as usual!
Also, I didn't know you were German. Now I know.

Can you tell me the current difficulty of Spirit according to the devs?
0 -
Hard
0 -
Give me the new Power difficulty for Demogorgon.
The new Ghostface chase music is a pain. It sucks so much.
Susie's mixtape kinda sucks ngl. The Fuming Mix Tape slaps though

Also Hard

That is a good difficulty rating

Wow, the reworked map looks aweful. The game turns into a running in circles-simulator more and more. The option to break line of sight and lose the killer afterwards gets nerfed with every reworked map. This seems to be the same, the building has no hidding places, the spaces outside are open and even if there are line of sight breakers, they are so isolated there is nothing where you could go. Maybe the map is not that bad if you actually play it, but it seems soo bad from the video...
1 -
The building are horrifically dark and pretty easy to hide in. The bushes are also a lot stronger. Not to mention you can walk through them and counter rotate around the killer, especially with Fixated.

Just wondering, did devs forget survivors exist in their game this update? My gosh, some of those add-ons are so busted it’s unbelievable they passed the eyes of upper level devs at BHVR. Then there’s the self-mend trigger for like half of Legion’s add-ons.. they don’t think survivors will just 99% mend then run to a friend?
2 -
Previously those addons would trigger upon a hitting a Survivor highlighted by Killer Instinct. I think I prefer the self mend ones, you either take the status effect (none of which are really that bad) or you waste time finding a teammate.
Rest of Leg's addons seem pretty okay.
As for Jamesface, you have things like Olsen's Wallet or Ghost Face Caught On Camera, likely to be really good, and then you have Knife Belt Clip, which is trash.
I'd say that it's very hit or miss, but from a tiny (and I mean tiny) bit of playtesting nothing felt too unfair.

...wait you think im german?

Which OP Add-ons are you talking about?
0 -
Well my ears tell me that. I'm picking up a German accent.
I am right... Right?

um... 🕳️🧑🦯

Most of my grievances are as a solo queue survivor. These add-on changes again widen the gap between solo queue and SWF. Especially the Legion self-mend ones. SWF = ‘Hey mate, where are you to finish my 99% mend?’ Solo queue? Better be running a survivor aura reading perk.
Oblivious is an extremely powerful status effect to last for 60 seconds, especially on yellow add-ons. Not OP, but really only yellow add-ons for that? Think about every perk application of oblivious, and there’s no comparison. Especially on these two quiet killers. Again, hurts solos more than SWF (callouts).
Susie’s Mix Tape makes it so killer instinct covers like half the map, on top of the buffed base kit and other FF add-ons. Wouldn’t Distressing further increase the distance too - isn’t it based on TR?
Olsen’s Wallet and Ghost Face Caught on Tape are flat out busted. Instantly recharged Night Shroud, allowing for constant and easy 99 or full stalks throughout the match -regardless of being recently revealed. (Are they fixing the busted reveal function on the survivor side, or only making it harder with the marked survivor change? Was super excited to see Driver’s License is unchanged - /s)
Meh, what do I really care though. Probably won’t be playing the base game anymore with the cheater and bot pandemic. Couldn’t even finish this last Rift. I’ll maybe just stick to mobile until it too is unplayable.

If it's any consolation reveling Ghostface was actually semi consistent for the first time in years

I doubt Legion and Ghostface will be better than they already are just because they can deal with SoloQ easier than they already could. Legion and Ghostface already manhandled SoloQ because most SoloQ teams are uncoordinated and didn't know how to split up or even look behind them while working on a Generator, which is more of a skill issue than anything

Thank you so much for this!

I gotchu ✨

There are many survivor perks that could need a nerf but Boil Over is NOT one of them. Please do not do that.
1 -
I feel like it's moreso to help console players or anyone on an analogue stick
0 -
I am on console and never thought it was a problem as a killer? I wish there was more build variety for survivors and this perk is not part of the problem.
0 -
On indoor maps it's really not great (at least on pc w/ a ps4 controller it isn't easy to move at all). M&K is so much better
0 -
Same, never really had a problem with Boil Over on controller. I imagine it was a problem on indoor maps however so maybe that's why it was nerfed?
1 -
Great job my friend it's so good to have you in this community
2 -
Even on pc I had a big problem lately on rpd. I just couldn't get the survs from the armory to a hook because I had such problems with going thru doors and there where three on my way. So I needed to slugg her but the exponentiall on the floor above made it impossible
1 -
Still no console optimization? *sigh* It's been 3 years since BHVR promised it....
0 -
Dark is no arguement, because things like visual filters are allowed in this game, and many killers use them.
Also, i talked about the ability to lose the killer in a chase, not just hidding so he doesnt find you.

There's defo ways to break los within a house and then stealth away bc of the many different ways you could go, especially with fixated equipped

Thank you :)

I'm sad to not see any pyramid head add-on changes :(
