Why was Freddy nerfed out of existence?
with the slowdown from setting snares freddy is pretty much useless now. The snares barely affect anti looping and only if a survivor is asleep. The drop in your speed makes this unviable in chase. Really, all he has now is gen warp with long cooldown or dream pallets which will rarely work and that's only with add ons. He's definitely bottom 5. I'd say that even CLOWN is better than him.

Forever Freddy was slowing the game way too much thus causing nerf add ons. He brain dead easy as well now but I never understood why nerf the pallet Freddy.

Because the devs are not good at the game and kept falling for the dream pallets. I remember watching a clip of one streaming and claiming the dream pallets were op.

He's still a good killer. He's not that bad, just insanely boring to play.

Removing the slowdown addons was harsh but ultimately fine.
Giving the clocks a "free from sleep" period that even extended to his melee attack was extremely unnecessary and gives survivors added control over his power, but at least the clocks make them leave gens so fine, I guess.
Reducing his movement speed when placing snares completely invalidated the whole point of them, massively reducing his effectiveness in chases and tremendously harming the feel of control. He straight-up feels clunky to play.
Taking his maximum number of snares/pallets away? Just straight-up salt in the wound. So embarrassingly pointless on top of EVERYTHING else, but tossed into the massive pile of nerfs like a thumb stuck in the wound.
Freddy's nerfs were a total hack job. It reads like somebody had a vendetta and just took a knife to every part of his kit just so they'd never have to see another person play that character ever again.

Freddy is still around. You just need to be asleep to see him.

honestly at this point i think his dream pallets are better

Agreed. Dream Snares don't do much in chases, Dream Pallets are e more reliable and can trick survivors.

and windows of opportunity tracks dream pallets so they cant use that to tell the diffrence

This is how Behavior does things.
My wife calls it 'Renekton design'
You see, in League Of Legends, there's a champion named Renekton.
The way he was designed was very bad. If his numbers were tweaked just a tiny bit (Literally, like 1% or so) he would climb to become the strongest pick in the game. He would become an unstoppable force that could snowball quickly and be a terror from low elo to the pro games.
BUT - make him have 1% less damage, and he's completely unusable - his trades are horrendous and he gets constantly bullied by his matchups.
The problem isn't the numbers, it's bad design philosophy. Until the team goes back and redesigns the guys of his utility and the approach to his power - he will remain like this. His kit is in a place where if his numbers are at a certain point, he becomes an unstoppable pain to play against. Meanwhile, if his numbers aren't quite there... he's not even worth considering.
it's an awkward place born of misguided design choices back during his development.
