"Kill" prompt not working against crawling survivors

I had the perks Nemesis and Rancor equipped. A non-Obsession survivor blinded me and became the Obsession. I downed that survivor and stood over them to Kill them by my hand (Mori) using the perk Rancor. However, I was unable to successfully activate the prompt, even with several tries.
The time-window or "hitbox" for the prompt is too short/small and requires way too much accuracy for controller.

The game seemed to prioritize a Lunge Attack even though I waited for the prompt to appear first.
