Is it REALLY abuse of Boil Over if survivors purposefully fall in areas that are far from hooks?
Personally, as long as the survivor is otherwise participating, I don’t mind it, even when I’m a killer. But if they’re not doing gens or unhooking team mates and seem to do nothing but try to bait me into chases so they can then fall in the corner of the level, I think that’s abuse.
Then again, it can keep the killer busy while their team mates get gens done.
So what do you think?

Unless there is either:
- Bodyblocking
- Hook sabotaging/destruction
- Perks to assist with wiggling out
- Killer doesn’t know the map/ran into walls/etc
- Anything in this same vein I might’ve forgotten
, there should never be a spot on the map that makes it impossible to reach a hook in time otherwise, as that is bad design.

It depends
Agreed, but boil over is a perk to assist with wiggling out. I’m less so referring to situations where the map always ensures there’s no hook that can be reached and more so referring to using that perk and then falling in an area that makes it almost (but not entirely) impossible to get hooked because of how the perk works. I’ve seen a general consensus that people feel boil over is often “abused” so I was curious to dig in there a bit.

I don’t consider it abuse. It is a perk working as intended. Abuse implies it’s unintended. Do I think the perk is healthy design? Not really. If it’s good, it’s busted. If it’s not, it’s really underwhelming and niche. I don’t think it needed the most recent nerf.

Interesting - didn’t know it was nerfed recently. What was done to nerf it?

The nerf hasn’t happened yet technically, but it will be nerfed in the upcoming midchapter.
The increased struggle effect is being reduced to 80% at tier 3 (down from 100%).

tbf, if I'm the killer and I notice that you have Boil Over and I can't quickly reach a hook, theres a tight doorway or I have to drop from somewhere to get to a hook, I'm sorry, but I'm slugging you.
but also going to die on a corner of the map its good strategy bc it wastes more of the killer's time.

positioning is one thing.
being literally impossible to hook is another.

Yes
Survivors should never be unhookable on their own

See it all the time - one or two survivors die and the other guy just goes and hangs out where they know there aren't any hooks nearby.
Not only can I - as the killer - not reasonably harm them once they are on the ground, but they are also refusing to participate to help their allies survive the match.
It's just a mean spirited and rude thing to do, in my opinion.
