DBD is a party game (In my opinion)

Even with how competitive DBD is, especially with the meta being the way that it is, I can't help but feel like DBD has it's roots as a party game somewhere in there still. It feels too rediculous to be a truly competitive game, and when you play non-meta (Like as killer you can do no hooking, let everyone escape playstyle that I did for a month), you tend to have a lot of fun and you don't even win. The more I play DBD with no gen perks or stuff like that besides No Way Out or other endgame perks, I just feel like DBD has the vibe of a party game sometimes. Do you think I'm weird for thinking this, or am I not alone in this thought?
