Lightborn is one of my favorite perks
Some people (not including survivor mains) seem to think that Lightborn is a waste of a perk. I beg to differ. I just had two matches in a row, one with four flashlights and the other with four flashbangs. Both groups tried to bombard me while body-blocking and both groups ultimately lost their composure and lost after realizing that they had no alternatives to blinding me (sabbing hooks).
I just wanted people to know that if the build works for you, then go for it. There is also one area where you can utilize No Mither and Soul Guard (I'm not a fool and I give props if I see a Survivor doing it). Too many people rely on flashlights instead of trying to find alternative builds.

What do you mean by rely on flashlights when they’re one of the weaker items?

It's ok I guess although smart people will figure it out that you have lightborn the first blind attempt then it's just a wasted perk slot

Also I highly suggest bringing Lightborn even if you don't see flashlights. I had survivors running a scavenger build (appraisal, plunderers, ace) and they brought coins into the match. All of them managed to find flashlights so yeah... not that it made a difference.

Sometimes. I noticed that people just start to hide and hope the Killer DC's after the blinding doesn't work. Of course this is after one teammate has died.

That is the thing, flashlights are not one of the weaker items. So, yes, I often do run into users who are boosted because of how powerful flashlights are and Lightborn does disgrace them. It is actually one of the main reasons I believe the perk is top tier.
Exploiting a flashlight user (properly) is very efficient. In other words, not self consciously hovering over their body hoping someone over commits to a save or ignoring them completely (and praying they stay there instead of leaving once you gain momentum) when those are not optimal decisions, but something forced upon you.
Like, I can respect that some killers struggle with medkits because they refuse to tunnel, or toolboxes because they get triggered when 3 gens pop at their first down... But those items are... Copium. Denying a hook is way better. Just because MOST survivors are quite bad at flashlight does not mean the item is bad.
There are some really powerful guranteed escape from chase builds that completely fetter tunneling which is about as strong as you can get in solo queue and most of them rely on a blind at a pallet.

All hail our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

That would be stubidiest idea ever wasting perk slot for that there is risk someone finds flashlight in chest. But if you really fear that risk so much use franklin demise so you can take all of their items away but even that is bit waste of perk slot

please run lightborn, thats one less slowdown perk to deal with so we survivors appreciate you!

I love lightborn, never have taken it off from the first day I got it from the shrine, lol, I've been running that perk and hangman's because I really don't have anything else to run really, lol, and it has decent information enough that it's helpful, and survivors never expect it

yeah except majority of suvivors arent smart. literally had a feng try and blind me at every pallet drop. like you would think after the first seven times they would get the hint. lightborn is an amazing perk and help reduce the stress of people tired of 2 second flashlight blinds every other game
1 -
Why wasted? It's your insurance of not being blinded into oblivion.

It is amazing to me that people still push this myth that flashlights are weak.
Toolboxes are worth a handful of gen seconds at best.
Keys do next to nothing.
Maps do next to nothing and the only decent one is a 7K iri.
Outside of a lucky sabo in a good location, no other than than a Flashlight can prevent a hook state and completely undo a Killer's successful chase. Anyone who thinks this is weak is out of their ever loving mind.
The only item that outclasses a flashlight is a medkit, and even then a save off the shoulder is not that different from an actual health state.

Complete waste of a perk slot.
Soon as I we realize you have it we don't waste time trying to blind anymore. Then we laugh at the fact that someone wasted a perk slot to get us to focus on gens instead. That's usually how it goes.
You ultimately want people to waste time trying to blind, it's good for you because they're wasting time.
Now, if Lightborn actually worked differently to where the survivors couldn't tell you had it somehow, then we might have a different story. Maybe.

It's not a waste just for the satisfaction of it. I went against one of the sweatiest groups I've ever come across and didn't kill anybody, but oh my god Lightborn felt like an absolute victory. I even managed to act and brag about it so much that they got mad at me, funniest swf rage in a while, completely dismantled the way that they were trying to have fun and made them mad in the end

I swear I cant see Lightborne the same way again.

Literally this
2 -
I'd rather not have my eyes blasted every time i go for a pallet break
And absolutely bullshit blind angles exist
Not to forget the thing that should be impossible to do that is locker blinds
4 -
It's ok guys, literally every single down in the history of DBD has been hugging a wall, nobody ever goes down more than 2 centimeters away from one.
If totally optimal survivors try for a blind with Lightborn, yeah they will realize and maybe do gens instead. But if they're totally optimal, you have no chance anyway unless you're playing equally optimal addon Nurse so might as well run whatever perks you want lmao. The absolute majority of survivors going for blinds are just imitating their favourite youtube compilations and don't even realize there is a score event.

^ big clown energy

In particular, locker blind angles are utter BS.
2 -
Yeah.
I played a match with a flashlight and flashbang equipped.
Went against a billy with lightborn.
Oh well, at least the rest of my build got some use.
Don't really get why people complain. it's a decent perk.

You can almost see the soul crushing despair in the survivors' eyes when they realise you have Lightborn.

Locker blinds should not even be a thing, your head is in the locker and the light is blocked by the doors

I agree vs swf I see those flashlights they play around at pallets surprise lightborn.Great counter for people who like to waste time. It's not useful unless they have one but it is vs ppl that spam it.

It is a bit of a waste of a perk because as soon as you know the killer is using it, just play as if you don't have a flashlight. That's -1 perk for the rest of the game.
0 -
I personally like combining it with star struck. A lot of players suddenly consider you a threat when they are healthy, exposed and unable to use dead hard.
0 -
Run Franklins instead. The goal is not to go without being blinded, the goal is to destroy the flashlight. ;)
1 -
I agree with you. Sometimes I'll add Franklins and Lightborn just to make them lose their "clicker." All of my Killers are maxed out so it's not an issue of BP for me.
0 -
Agreed. If I'm in the mood, I'll just add Franklins along with Lightborn. I'm doing Insidious Basement Bubba and trust me... none of the SWF's have been happy. I've been getting death threats over a game for the past week. Imagine that lol.

That's the interesting part... some people give up but others keep trying to blind me. It's kind of a 50/50 situation I guess.

If you come across a lobby with 4 flashlights its hilarious to use Lightborn and absolutely shut down what they want to do. It doesn't happen much but super fun when you can pull it off.

In low to mid MMR Lightborn is actually pretty decent. You can make the “smart people” second guess their timing by acting like you’re looking up or away. If they drop a pallet, I’ll fake left or right like I’m about to go around-then quickly return to break the pallet. Then I’ll look up at the point they should have got the blind, so it comes across like they started a second too late for the blind. I will also still look away and face walls when picking up a downed survivor to continue the act.
I can usually bait out two more flashlight attempts and followed up with hits or downs. But after that they catch on and I already got value from the perk. Works best when they are multiple solos bring flashlights. Free hits lol.
1 -
So you probably use them just for trolling? My basement bubba build is insidious, agitation, iros grasp and monsterous shrine or noed so I don't usually have room for them. In rare occasions I use one of them but usually franklin demise cause survivors make stupid plays to get their item back and it takes away their med kits and toolboxes as well.
1 -
My build is similar. I hate Iron Grasp as a survivor but it's a must for certain killer builds. I had one SUS player that managed to wiggle out without Boil Over so now I try my best to see if I want to attempt carrying survivors all the way to basement (depending on where they fall).

I don't really get how people claim it's a wasted perk since it literally forces the survivors to go from using their flashlights to either swapping them out with something else or pretending the light is empty.
They literally can only sabo, bodyblock or pallet save all of which can cost them a health state if they want to save the downed survivor. Something that forces the other side to play differently isn't "weak".

At the very least if flashlight blinds are a particular bane to your gameplay, I would think simply not having to deal with it is worth the perk slot.
It's no different than, say, using Lethal Pursuer because you always have trouble finding survivors at the start, or Undying to protect your hexes. If anything Lightborn potentially sees more use than either of the other examples.
