I didn't appreciate pre-nerf Freddy til it was too late
Freddy used to be a well-rounded killer at the height of his strength, and it was mostly my inability to play him well that stopped me from liking him and, well, playing him. If it weren't for my solo teammates DC'ing against him or dropping like flies, I could have enjoyed playing against him, too. I do think he needed a few qol changes instead of the nerf he got.
And now, reminiscing turns to ranting.
People claimed* that Freddy was so OP before his nerf that he was S tier/top 3, and then he got nerfed because of that, because he "took no skill". I found the whole ordeal hilarious. Still do. How do you put him in the same tier as Nurse? How? He took loads of skill, being an M1 killer and all. He had slowdown similar to Clown's which he could preset at loops for later, which caused him to catch survivors off guard when they'd run to those supposedly strong loops. He could also use them for info if they were triggered from afar. He could also use them on the fly, and still can, by setting up a snare at each side of the loop, wait for the survivor to step in one, double back so they'd have to go through the other as well, and that would barely give him the hit before they got to the pallet. He could teleport to gens, or fake that he was teleporting, which caused the survivors to respect him or give a free hit when he actually did tp. It was mostly used to stop gens from getting done, by teleporting their and using Pop or letting Ruin do its regression. Survivors being Oblivious while in dream was/is nice. His slowdown add-ons were also nice, even though they were a mere 5% slowdown. He was decently strong for an M1 killer, and was very overrated.
Now, Freddy is a complete joke, and he wasn't that strong to begin with. His snares were reduced to 5, which pretty much stops him from being able to set them preemptively at key loops, because placing more than that limit would undo the first one placed. That forces him to only use them on the fly, which a survivor could and can still counter by just running away from the loop when he starts doing that, or just drop the pallet early. Dream pallets were also reduced in number, which was a stupid decision that a certain dev clearly had input on as he said, and I quote: "Freddy's pallets are stronger than his snares" which shows they had no understanding of Freddy. Freddy's clocks being buffed is also huge for survivors, because his snares/pallets/Oblivious don't even do anything to them unless they're asleep, and the yellow meter that the new clocks put on survivors causes them to reach sleep later, and become immune to getting put in the dream world even when Freddy hits them. Of course, good survivors ignore the clocks since his powers aren't much of a threat to them anyway. His slowdown add-ons and most of his other good add-ons are also gone, now replaced with the most useless crap imaginable, like "survivors' footsteps are louder while in dream" and "survivors' gen repairs are louder when in dream". Those add-ons are the most insulting change of them all.
And this was all unjustified. Pre-nerf Freddy was not this unbeatable force that survivors made him out to be. If you were to bring that version of him into the current meta, he'd still be as weak as Sadako or Wraith, certainly not viable. Is it any wonder he's always put in C tier and below in people's tier lists? At the end of the day, he was another M1 killer, whose chases are almost always too long for them to be viable. His snares helped, but they were cut in half. His slowdown add-ons helped, but they're gone. His clocks were buffed... for the survivors. His teleport was the only thing that escaped untouched. And you know what? After all this trouble, people still call him OP.

He was not op, he was strong for sure but op? No.
He was boring for me, i never loved reworked version.
Just bring back Old Freddy already, he was best killer in game.

If they could somehow bring back that version of him, and make it viable, then sure. If not, I'd rather not have him, just being honest.

what we don't need is old Freddy. He had absolutely nothing going for him except aura reading and passive slowdown and we all know how beloved slowdown is.
Old freddy was an m1 killer with no mobilty, no lethality, no antiloop and stealth that was so bad it makes onryo blush. Having to wait 7 seconds before you could even injure survivors was a terrible idea and being an m1 killer with nothing else just means you'll get looped the entire game, just look at onryo.
Old freddy should never come back imo. The rework was necessary, the nerf wasn't.

Old Freddy needed some buffs and QoL changes. But rework? I don't know. I just never loved new version.
New Freddy was meta for while. Old Undying + Ruin + Thana combo with his slow-down add-ons was pretty strong build. But after Undying nerf, he was fine. I don't know why BHVR decided nerf him to ground. BT also buffed because of him.
