Yes: believe it or not, if you’re going to attribute such an outlandish claim to the devs, you’re going to be held accountable to factually prove it. You say the devs said it, show us. And now you’ve been caught with your foot in your mouth by ‘proving it’ with a post made by someone who isn’t a dev.
Not that this is court, but imagine having done this before a judge or jury. Would it hold up?
