Ranked/casual mode.
I heard a bunch by now that a new gamemode could add variety which some people think dbd lacks.
But idk about ranked and casual anymore.
When the matchmaking was turned back to grade based one I thought "well great. Just hide the grades and make that into casual".
After the recent changes to matchmaking I don't think casual would even be needed (as in how I thought it could be made).
If ever, maybe for the casual to be... welll casual Bhvr could:
- remove the ability to equip meta perks (and I don't think it's impossible to tell what is meta and what is not)
- remove the ability to bring add-ons and items.
- remove the ability to bring map offerings.
And yeah. I don't think perkless would be fun, even if casual. And other offerings are just not as powerful as being sent to a specific map that either favors your killer or survivors (because they know the ins and outs of it).
What do you think ? Does dbd need a casual / ranked mode and if what would be the difference ?

No.
Dont divide the playerbase

I don't see many playing any mode where any perks are locked, but the largest concern would be sweats from both sides invading the casual area just to steamroll.

I think it wouldn't work.
1) Que times would increase a lot
2) Most people would probably play casual anyway
3) Most people would probably play the same so you wouldn't feel like "casual" at all
4) You would still see people complaining because it doesn't fix or change the balance of the game (maps, perks, addons, powers, etc.)

I have two words for you, No.

Behavior would literally need to enforce the casual playstyle to some extent, but do you honestly think they would give unhooked survivors 1 minute of invulnerability, disable the ability to pick meta perks like DH/IW etc? Of course not, it would be an honor system and it would fail miserably because people would still play sweaty (which is just a fancy term for not throwing).

I guess the playerbase is not big enough to "divide".
I still think a new gamemode would fresh things out. I mean side objectives from events alredy do, but they are so time limited (I mean I know that's the point, but :(. )
Ps: Maybe once some core issues are fixed there will be time to code and think of a new gamemode

Which category do really good players that want to have fun fall into?
I'm assuming youd say ranked just because they're skillful right? Doesnt seem fair...
1. You dont want to split the playerbase.
2. You will always have better and worse players, there will never be a balance especially when you try balance for all levels.

I mean there will still be tryhards in casual, but they couldn't use tryhard perks.
But yeah, no I get it. "Dividing" the playerbase isn't a good idea. I thought other games have it, why can't dbd ? I guess the size of the playerbase doesn't allow that and players are already divided into survivor, killer, kill you friends (custom lobby); If you think about it.

But the issue is with the current game is balance, if you told me you was removing the distance from DH I'd probably actually be into playing killer more, currently I dont play killer much because it's all the same meta, and this meta hurts the weaker killers more. Same as survivor, I'm bored because I only see 2 killers 90%+ of the time.
Other games work because it's not a non symmetrical game, you have to think DBD actually has multiple game modes already as it has KYF(custom game), survivor and killer. In other games let's say overwatch, your character is the same but the objective changes, DBD roles are different so if you was to actually add another game mode you're splitting it into 4 modes
- Classic DBD survivor
- Classic DBD killer
- Game mode 2 survivor
- Game mode 2 killer
Etc. So you can see it would drastically split the playerbase, not to mention its 4:1 ratio and that killer ratio is far smaller than it should be
