Individual killer ratings
Here’s two games from this week. I was the killer in both:
I am most definitely not high MMR and definitely a bang average killer. And I know anyone reading this only has my word for it but I was not doing some stupid personal challenge or trying to prove a false point by only using one perk- both my Doctor and Nemesis (I bought him during this sale) are level 1.
I got decent BP in both games but the experience was just attritional lol. The Nemesis game in particular- I knew something was up with the hooks as they seemed quite far apart and every time I did down someone the hooks were getting sabotaged. So I wasn’t surprised in the end game to see the offerings and items brought. With the doctor, it felt like for everyone I downed there was someone perfectly in place for the flashlight save. Both games had a level of coordination I struggled massively to deal with.
From my doctor screenshot you can see that I’m devotion 4. I honestly have no real idea what that means in regards to my experience but I still feel like I was getting matched in games way beyond my ability- especially with killers I hardly ever use and just want to try and start to learn. And also I will freely admit I have played survivor way more over the years than killer so any devotion I have built up was primarily playing survivor.
So my question is I’ve read that you have a different match making rating for each killer you play but I feel like this isn’t really true during peak times? Or is it even true at all?

There is different killer rating but a new killer's rating it's not going to be that far from your highest killer mmr.
But all of that goes out the window if queue times are long enough anyway.

Your different killers are supposed to have their own MMR, but because the system includes a stupid rule that the lowest MMR killer can't be that much further down in MMR from your other killers, you don't really feel that different killer/different MMR feature. That rule was put in because boohoo, "people will just smurf otherwise", which is an example of balancing off the worst possible, and least likely, scenario. I have never had the idea to try and smurf by abusing the MMR difference in my killers.
I have no interest in playing Nurse right now, because I'm focused on playing Blight and Artist. If we were to switch from those killers to Nurse, I would be forced to play against survivors who are far above my skill level with Nurse, simply because I'm good with other killers, which in turn denies me the chance to learn with Nurse because I'll lose too fast. And when my MMR goes down a ton with her, it will drag down the MMR of my other killers as well, so when I switch back to them I'll crush the survivors because I'll be far above their skill level.
The "all your killers must be locked into a similar MMR" rule has caused far more problems than it supposedly solves. And it was a change that was aimed to foil the supposed schemes of the high MMR people, which is another example of the devs' flip flops on balancing for low or high MMR.

Your killers 100% got different ratings. I went for the Skilled Huntress achievement with only aura reading perks and hatchet throws with my Huntress, losing so many games in a row that I started getting absolute baby survivors with 2-3 perks and hiding on the edges of the map. I felt bad and frustrated so I went back to Legion and got absolutely decimated by a group of high level survivors. The long waiting times and the atrociously bad matchmaking system sadly is so dysfunctional, that your experience is not a rarity, I'm afraid you'll have quite a few matches like that in the future.
