To be fair, a map offering is a legitimate function of the game. If a player buys it, they have every right and expectation to be able to use it. As long as a DC penalty is in place, anyone who DCs for any reason (including during the loading screen) should get the standard penalty. As OP mentioned, it’s a waste of his and his friends’ time waiting for a match, just to have to requeue for the same thing to possibly happen again.

There also ought to be a priority requeue for players who wait and never load into a match. A small and reasonable compensation for their troubles.

People can’t nitpick complain about which DCs are ok and which aren’t. The standard needs to be applied indiscriminately.

I'm sure most M1 killers not being able to dodge RPD or The Game on the web will be glad to know they have the right to use it.

The issue with the map offering is that some maps are very unbalanced against most killers, much less against survivors. And as someone has already pointed out, there are 4 survivors and one killer, making a map offering from a killer a pointless exercise.

Speaking about DCs, it's funny how survivors offering The Game or Midwich DC at the start of the match when they realize they are versing a Nurse and they've asked for a map where she is strong.

Then the issue is primarily with maps and not the offerings, because you could get them by random selection as well. Does that justify DCing too?

I like facing Nurse and will never DC against her. Not even on Midwich.

Well since dodging the loading screen causes the match to not even start. It's not really comparable. It would be different if the game still loaded with less than 4 survivors.

He and his friends could always not use map offerings. I'm not going to feel sorry for a squad trying to make their opponent miserable unable to find games.

Like wise I didn't feel sorry for killers when people were dodging moris before they got nerfed.

Yes, of course it's because of the maps. If maps were balanced we wouldn't speak about offerings at all.

    You and me both.

How is it not comparable? A DC is a DC, no matter when it occurs. It is one player deciding they’ve had enough before a trial ends normally - whether that’s before it even begins or any point after. Players should not be able to hit “Ready” if they don’t accept whatever opponents or tools they will be placed against. People on the forums are always mentioning ‘X’ entitlement (usually “survivor entitlement”); are players entitled to not ever have to play on certain maps made by the devs? It’s ludicrous.

Being able to be delete a survivor from the game after one hook and another down is nowhere near comparable to a survivor or killer playing a map offering. There wasn’t or isn’t an offering to counter that. But in the case of map offerings, other players can play map offerings of their own, or Sacrificial Wards, as counterplay. And again, there’s always the chance that same map would come into play randomly and normally without any map offerings. In other words, the killer can still play a normal match on any map. That isn’t somehow cut short by a survivor burning a map offering. If anything about maps needs to be looked at, it is the maps themselves more than it is the offerings. No bad map design, no problem with possibly being sent there.

Dead by Daylight is a 4 vs. 1 horror asymmetrical multiplayer game. I don’t get why people are expecting either side to join hands and sing Kumbayah. It is literally the job and optimal way to play to harass the other side, within the parameters and rules of the game laid out by the devs.
