Playing killer and Fov
Hey there everyone. I have a specific problem that I don't see anymore address when playing killer in DBD. I don't know if others struggle with this as badly as I do, but I honestly feel like when I am chasing a survivor right in front of me, like I have a blindfold on. I just can't see or hit them. I am getting so angry at myself that I have played this game a while now but still can't track properly. I always see people say "wait till you get right up close to them then short attack them". For me, the moment I do this, that blind thing is increased tenfold. All the survivor has to do is slightly move left or right and their gone. I genuinely feel like I am blind when I play this game. I just can't keep my eye on them. When I watch people who stream this game, it is like they are continually tracking them but I don't feel like I have fly like reaction speeds to do this, like they seem to have. I have tried the perks Shadowborn and Monitor and Abuse but it still isn't working for me. I also have the camera up at 80%. I have tried higher but it is honestly to quick for me, I feel even more blind. I know that experienced survivors do the whole spin and 360 thing but I'm not even talking about that, just going out of my FOV and not being able to find and strike them. You are punished severely in DBD if you fail to hit as killer. I have got up to red rank 2 a couple of times now and have had people message me saying I'm good, but then I just go back to being blind and terrible. Anyone else deal with this and have specific advice that can help, other than short attack, higher camera speed or shadowborn. Also I play on PS4 so I know I'm at a disadvantage but not to this extent.

This is pretty much ‚intentional‘ game design - and I agree it’s just frustrating and unnecessary. Especially since it’s more of a problem for controller players. I struggle with this as well (controller but on Steam), I kinda got used to it and can somewhat reliably track the survs but very few seem to move faster to the sides and just vanish (and then suddenly have super much distance to me).
sadly, I don’t have any other advice than what you already said yourself..

hi, this happened to me at first as well, but as you play you start getting used to it, theres one thing that helps a lot to keep track of them, its a perk called sloppy butcher, or the addon "hemorrage" that will make the survivors bleed a lot and its way easier to track them that way, im very sucessful when using this, other than that, try to not "hug" them too closely, always give them a bit of space, because if you hug them and they move aside, they will "disappear" in front of you because you are playing in 1st person, so give them what i call a "1 body of space" between you and them, and then do the heavy attack "Lunge" on them, its also good to keep a bit of distance so you can counter the 360 move by them

That method of getting up close is only used to bait out dead hard when the surv is injured. Otherwise, look slightly down
