DC penalty cry babies
The ones calling for the DC penalty to be reduced are the ones who DC on 5 gens because “Killer is a meanie”. Change my mind.
If anything the DC penalty should INCREASE bc of how common it is. Honestly, it only hurts the survivor side.

I think it’s extraordinarily liberal in its application. Takes multiple DCs to increase from five minutes. You’d have to be basically addicted to it in order to really ever suffer a severe penalty.

Yeah it should stay but when people would still rather eat a penalty than play the game there may be a design issue.
You don't see many people DC in OW.

The only time the dc penalty should be turned off are the times when game breaking bugs exist like with that nurse bug a while ago. At least now they can disable killers or perks until its patched. Other than that ya i agree it should increase luckily i never see dcs anymore its usually something that happens mostly in the lower rank games it would seem

A spaghetti code hacker infested game shouldn't have DC penalties, you can't change my mind.

However, there are situations in which leaving the game would be completely understandable.
- the killer didn't like being looped by a survivor, so at the end, when there are only two survivors left, he decides to put one down, then the other, and NOT hang them up, waiting for them to die from exhaustion;
- the killer didn't like receiving a DS in his face; at the same time, he was tunneling...; so, once he manages to find the one he put there, he slugs him over and over, and prevents the others from helping him;
- the killer camps the trapdoor, staying above it, waiting for a survivor to show up; magnificent, the survivor has no other choice but to either give himself to the killer;
- the survivors are very toxic, which makes the killer want to move on to the next game, but, unluckily, the survivors are both toxic AND competent, so they can decide to hold the game hostage indefinitely;

One thing I will never understand is DCing right at the end of the game. I don't think anyone should DC, really ever, but can can at least follow the reasoning for an early game DC. But late/end game is just nonsense. Do they not like blood points? Do the somehow think they didn't really lose if they DC before they are killed? I mean if you're about to die, you're essentially out, so why?
As a killer, I see a mid-late game DC as the ultimate submission; they're not saving any face by DCing, quite the opposite.
Same for the other side; I recently had a killer DC as all four of us were running through the exit gate. No one was BMing or anything, they just quit at the literal last second. Just silly.
The solution is just to not DC. The penalty isn't going to be removed (I think it should be increased for each instance following the first), nor should it. People queue up, they need to play it out.

How is it normal to have to wait to bleed to death when the killer decides to boycott the game?
How can it be right that the perfectly legitimate fact of wanting to move on instead of satisfying the good pleasure of an idiot leads to a sanction?
As for the situation on the trapdoor, the concern is that the survivor has no choice but to go and die.
I'd still rather the killer find me, hunt me, and in the end kill me. Then I would have had my slim, but existing, chance to get out of it 😊
Camping the trap door, it just condemns the survivor to either give himself, without disconnecting.
Fortunately, these cases do not occur all the time, of course, but it happens enough to be felt 🤔

1 and 2, the survivor can just go grab a snack instead, not only would it avoid the penalty, for 2 it would also keep them occupied so the other survivors could escape.
3. If the killer is guarding the hatch, and the hatch is open, that means every other survivor has escaped or died, which means both gates are powered as well. Instead of "giving yourself to the killer" you could literally open the gate and escape that way. Also at that point egc is happening, so if you lack the skill to make the gates, it still won't last forever, so there is no reason to DC.
4. Killer gets the snack this time. Seriously, the best way I've found to deal with those kind of swf groups is just go to the basement, put the controller down, and get something tasty. The longer they're in my lobby playing with themselves, the less chances they have to go ######### with some newbie killer.
2 -
If the killer kills the rest of your team and and finds the hatch, they've won. Just accept it.
If they stand at the hatch, it's no different that survs waiting at the gate or hatch to be seen or teabag before leaving. Survs do that all the time, and it's the same thing, and at the end of the day, it's harmless.

I wish I had your Overwatch lobbies.

People throwing?
Big time.
People straight up leaving because they got pissy?
Extremely rare.

In the first case, there were only two survivors left, the other two were dead :/
Besides, when you play a game, I don't think you have to go and do something else because the enemy has decided so 🤔
As for the hatch camp, there was only one survivor left, but the exit doors were not powered 😕
Regarding your solution to counter the toxic SWFs by going to the cellar, I totally understand, and I guess yes, it must be wasting their time! I totally agree 🤩
But sometimes you don't care about them, you just want to move on to the next one 😐️

The fact that some survivors are toxic to the point of tbag at the end like morons does not justify that a killer does the same thing, otherwise, we have not finished 🙂
I don't mind being killed, if there is a way out, of course: I could have run away, the killer was smarter, gg to him 😊
But in this case ... he's just waiting for me to come and give me ... you compare this to those who tbag, it means that you understand how childish this kind of behavior is.
At the very least, camping the trapdoor to kill a survivor who has been hyper toxic, there, I understand 👍️

In the first case, if there are 2 survivors and they've both been slugged, the match is going to end regardless.
You have a choice. You can let the actions of others distress you so much that you DC and lose your blood points, as well as court the penalty. Or you can decide that you are in control of your own feelings and actions. You don't have to do anything,
I want to see this video where the hatch is opened but the gates aren't powered.

Killers also dc lot of times when few gens get done or they don't catch survivors as quickly they want.

I think that's seen as less of a problem because when the killer dcs, the match just ends. Personally I still think it's dumb crybaby behavior no matter which side, but I can see the argument that the survivor leaving sucks worse for the remaining 3.

In fact, it's just a question of respect, somewhere ... I think it's a shame that because of a jerk whose only goal is to annoy the players, they have to bend to his rules ...🤔
Concerning the case of the trapdoor, the Bubba had managed to kill (I should say: camp) 3 survivors, and there were still generators to be made.
The trap door had opened, and he had posted himself just above.
So, of course, the last survivor could have had fun making the other generators, in ninja mode, somewhere, it's true 😊

However, even if the ragequit ban remains as it is, I think it would be interesting to make sure that the remaining players receive a compensation, as mentioned before 😏

i literally had a guy DC because I was running hex:blood favor and he Dead hard into a pallet he couldn’t drop. Like it’s not even that good, that’s the first out of like 15 matches that it actually did something for me lmao

if killer DCs, he loses addons and offering as well as loses pip in both killer and survivor sides
if survivor DCs, killer still has 3 more targets for badges to farm, while survivors are already at disadvantage compared to the start.
then again, when U are vs camping bubba or clown (with expose bottle)...it's of course nice to stay as long as you can to let others do gens while killer is camping, but what for? you won't be rewarded even by safety pip for struggling to the end on your first hook. considering that, people will DC or kill themselves to take a break or start new match.
There're good games and bad games, good players and bad players... just like in any game (I think)..
you can't force someone stay just because you want to get high score and pip... freedom in decision is still there...
example: my first game today as survivor
Realm - Badham Preschool
Killer - pig.
Killer downed claudette in main(no basement there), claudette crawls into the hole to drop down. Get a reverse trap and then get picked... killer didn't break any wall, so no shortcuts. Claudette wiggles out (mindful survivors didn't pop gens), I body-blocked killer and took chase, eventually got downed and got fancy reverse trap hat in main. then got picked up but I wiggled out as well, since they still didn't break any doors. Claudette got trap off, still at 5 gens...I assume others decided to 99 them maybe (it's match with randoms... as always, cuz I don't have friends :< )
then I saw killer stop chasing me and noticed jake being injured.. then killer DCed when I didn't even take off my trap.
we didn't get a single gen, they didn't hook anyone yet either, but decided to give up... I was sad, because I had fun.. nobody bullied them either.. but still they DCed regardless.. their own right.
P.S. played few matches, not a single one counted towards pip...says error.. am I the only one?

Tbf that’s because the penalty in OW is more severe (at least in ranked) to a point where you can be banned for a whole season

This I'm all for. A bp bonus to the remaining players.

"So, of course, the last survivor could have had fun making the other generators, in ninja mode, somewhere, it's true"
That's what I'm saying, you've always got options. It's not bending to anybody's rules it's just deciding whether or not you're going to let an anonymous person on this video game upset you that badly.
In the first example where two are slugged. They could do the childish thing and DC, or they could put the controller down and get a snack or pet their animal or SO, or they could have fun with it. Crawl away from each other to force the killer to run between our of fear of unbreakable, do patterns in the ground. It's all about the options that you allow yourself to see.
Actually reminded me of what I used to do with a friend of mine when one of us got slugged when we were 2 man swf. Remember the Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie?
We'd re-create his death scene over headset, ad-libbing the lines. Never failed to get both of us laughing like idiots by the end. So the killer who thought he was trolling us was giving us an excuse for our favorite in joke

Gates are never powered until five gens are done or the killer closes the hatch and starts end game collapse.

For reference Overwatch has disconnect penalties as well.
- In Casual mode you gain a leaver status when you dc that penalizes you 75% of your experience. (In DbD you lose all the bloodpoints for the match which is kind of similar.)
- In Competitive mode they have scaling penalties similar to DbD that start at 10 minutes and increase with multiple disconnects eventually to total bans for a season plus loss of any rewards already earned. (That’s actually harsher than DbD’s penalty which starts at 5 minutes and never gets as long as a month I don’t think? Plus you never lose rewards you’ve already gained in DbD.)
A major difference between Overwatch and DbD in terms of design though is there’s no player elimination during the match and no significant downtime other than during setup at the very beginning. Even if you get knocked out you are only out for a short time. In DbD if you get downed early you could potentially be out of the action for a solid minute or two before either being revived or rescued or even just dying on hook. So there’s a lot more downtime plus the threat of player elimination.
I think that’s why you likely see many, many more disconnects on the survivor side than the killer side. Even though there seems to be a consensus on the forums that killer is the more “stressful” role, it’s also the role that has much less downtime and no threat of elimination so you’re always doing something throughout the match unless you intentionally go out of your way to just facecamp or something.

Forgot about that, for some reason I thought they were powered when the hatch opens

it don't hurt the survivor side lol it hurt the killer side survivor can just kill them self on hook if they wont out with getting a time ban, what can killer do when they want out? nothing......

Yeah as much as I would like there to be little to no dc penalty the community has proven time and time again that, that can not be the case as people will dc for the most petty of reasons. Lost both totems within 30 seconds of the game? dc, my dead hard didnt work? dc, I don't like this killer? dc.
1 -
It debends the match ending can be worser. Survivor dc:ing when killer has hooked him twice and continues to tunnel is not as bad for example. I have lost achiements and challenges because killer has dc:t so for me it's usually more annoying. As killer you like survivor dc:ing at the beginning 3vs1 is easy win.
1 -
Killers should be able to DC after a certain amount of time without having to deal with penalties. This would help a lot when dealing with cheaters. DC penalties are fine enough the way they are now when it comes to survs.

nvm

Most of the people here who hate survivors that DC is actually killers. Why is that? You will get your 4k easier!
Isn't the game is too hard that you cant get 1K without tunneling? DC=Tunneling early both is 1v3 match. So why killers against it?
