DBD is impossible to balance
When people talk about balancing the game, the topic of kills vs escapes comes up every time, and to be fair, what ELSE are you going to look at in order to balance a game like this?
That said, did anyone else notice that survivors die mostly when they want to?
What I mean by this is, the survivors usually don't care, and I've heard content creators saying things like: "When I play survivor, i just mess around with friends, don't really care about escaping or surviving i just want to screw with the killer." and admittedly that's fun to both watch and do, but is THE KILLER really the one that should only win if he sweats like a fat nerd during sex? When is the last time you watched a tense horror slasher movie where the KILLER is the one that's trying hard? I mean, watch the movies or play the games where MOST of DBDs killers come from and pay close attention to which side is trying VERY hard, and which side is almost screwing around... Imagine playing silent hill and tea bagging pyramid head, or watching Texas chainsaw massacre where bubba is looped at the kitchen table for an hour before the victim dead hards and jumps out the window and starts clicking a flashlight at him.
Dbd is like a slasher flick from the mirror universe!
Sorry, I went off on a tangent, my point was supposed to be:
When balancing the game using the stats of Kills VS Escapes, how do you exclude kills that the survivor GIVES the killer? By purposefully screwing around with risky plays and trolling the killer, or how do you exclude the kills where the survivor just kills himself on hook to get into a new game because he didn't like the killer, or his addon or his perk, or the map or whatever

DbD might be impossible to be balanced, it's 100% possible to be better balanced than it is now

Of course, you can't ever truly balance an asymmetrical game by its inherent nature. But you can do a lot to make it as balanced as humanly possible but perks and addons complicate that, as does an ever shifting meta.

It's really not. The game is truly not that complex.

Only with a lazy and pessimistic mind set.

No its not its just that people are oblivious on how to do proper balance. This is a universal problem even in fighting games. Some of it actually has to do with politics which is dumb but it is what it is. Theres a difference bewtween "ability" to do something vs "not wanting" to do it. The latter is BHVR and most development companies whether they are assymetrical, fighting or otherwise.
Why are weak killers or characters in general in games to begin with? Its because they were never meant to be in higher tiers because they're developers dont want them to be in higher tiers thus dont give these weaker characters etc what they need to compete at a higher level with the rest of the top characters etc. Im telling you this is on purpose.
Its not that complex or complicated its really not. Tell me how hard it is to increase the duration of Clowns stun effect, give him a extra bottle to start off or to make some of the more op killers just a little weaker. Its not.

Bingo.
Once you get past the level of Chess, balance becomes fractal - no matter how close you get to balance, it's just not possible.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try.
