Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

My Thoughts on the New Haddonfield

It goes without saying that, visually speaking, the map looks fantastic, it really captures what the old version was lacking, that being the atmosphere,

This looks amazing and is very visually pleasing to the eye

Gameplay-wise though, it could definitely use some work.

For starters, the middle of the map is essentially a dead-zone the size of Florida, there are at most 3 to 4 pallets here, and once those are gone, this area becomes a goddamned death trap

And some of the buildings feel very claustrophobic, and some of the windows are ######### disgusting

Example, this vault in the Myers House

If the hook next to this window is gone, or if you mess up carrying them to the basement, a survivor can just go here and teabag away as you can't hook em, god forbid they have Boil Over, This should be a breakable wall at the very least

This window i actually like, since it's at the end of a loop-de-loop thing upstairs, you get punished for running the wrong way, and rewarded if you can carrel the survivor to run the other direction and force a medium vault, i would prefer if this was just a hole though

This window is just mean, right by a gen too, and the map has quite a few of these, these could have been breakable walls honestly, would have led to some interesting decisions where you decide if you want survs to be stuck somewhere at the risk of hooks, or easier hooks but the survivors have more options to run and get balanced landing

It's still leagues better then the old version, but it could definitely use a few changes to make it even better

EDIT:

I'm not sure what the general stance on the new "House of Pain" is, but i think it's the most balanced it has ever been, the version in these screenshots, at least to my knowledge, has no windows, meaning that once the two pallets are gone, the building becomes much less of a pain to deal with, i also like that one of the staircases got moved and replaced with a sofa, i don't know how much of a effect that had on gameplay but it looks a lot nicer to me
