Regarding the New Matchmaking system and SWF Group Rank differences

OK, so first off I know this can't be just me noticing this for some time now. But it seems like there is an intentional wait time punishment for groups of players in SWF who have large gaps in rank.

I for 1 don't care about my rank in this game very much at all. I'm a rank 1 killer and survivor and don't know that I always belong there lolz. But many of my friends that I play with are not even red rank. Some are in the purple range, some in the green, and some in the yellowish/grayish whatever color that is ranks :p

But no matter what time of day it is I find a match pretty fast, within a minute or two, when queing with friends who are in the same rank tiers as myself. But when I que with friends who are in mixed ranges the que time can take up to 15 minutes and longer, the larger the overall rank gap the larger the que time. Only in a few cases have we managed to que up with these split groups and not have to wait very long for a lobby, but it's still longer than I do otherwise and geolocation seems to make no difference when I'm hosting a lobby by myself, with close friends, nor with large rank gaps. No difference in host search location that is, only a difference in que times based on the rank gaps within the party we have.

I would assume this is some "penalty" put in place to deter people from attempting to use low rank players to boost their own rank by getting easier killers, but I don't see why anyone would bother since there's literally NO REWARD for being in the higher ranks. No free cosmetic, no free blood points as reward for finishing at rank 1, nothing. So why would people bother to boost their rank in this game?

My question is if this is really a thing and if the new matchmaking system will address this issue. If this is not something that's intentionally put into place is there an explanation as to why these groups would have much longer que times than others?
