what are tomes and what are rifts ?

sorry for this stupid question but i see some sort of event and i would like to take advantage of it, im a new player and play alone by myself so i would like to know what is that if possible sorry again to bother with this simple question

    A tome is a collection of challenges that you can complete to be rewarded with bloodpoints, rift fragments and lore

    rift fragments level up the Rift, every tome comes with a limited time Rift (Think of it like a DBD battlepass) and there's a free track and a paid track, however the paid track will give you all 1000 auric cells back once you complete it, meaning you may only need to buy 1 rift pass and you can get the next one and the next one etc etc
