It's time for Corrupt Intervention to go

First of all I want to say that this is not an anti-killer post. I completely understand the point Corrupt Intervention plays in offering killers a more fair chance and having a good match and I fully support that mentality.

I'm a survivor main and on the few occasions I do have a go at playing Killer the gens can pop so quickly I fully get why some killers get irritated and feel the need to bring CI to matches. As such, I do think the game needs to offer something to killers that facilitates this.

But I don't like the method by which it's being done and think it needs to change. I played 7 matches yesterday after a bit of time away and 5/7 of them the killers brought CI. However its becoming boring to play against as survivors now just tend to hide until CI deactivates which artificially drags out the match and doesn't benefit anyone - killers or survivors.

I think, rather than continually pushing for new survivors and killers, It's high time BHVR spent some time improving the QOL aspects of the game and look into ways the game can be mixed up but offer similar experiences.

I've long been a supporter of secondary objectives for survivors - this is one aspect I always preferred about Friday the 13th over DBD. You want to call the police? Fine but you have to find the wire to repair the phone first. You want to escape into the boat? Fine but you have to find a key, petrol and propellor.

Whilst DBD is somewhat different in that we just have gens, I do believe this could apply too. Finding wire to fix faulty wiring pre repair, having to find gasoline to fill the gen as well as repair it etc. This gives more for survivors to do, it lengthens matches in more meaningful ways and it also offers ALL killers, not just the ones who want to waste a perk slot on CI, a more relaxed chance to explore the map and find survivors whilst they're running about truing to do the secondary objectives, rather than just sitting on gens (or hiding till they can).

I'd be interested to hear your opinions.

I know you're not... but that doesn't stop people. That's the point.

Well that's the people's fault, not CI's. Add more objectives and they won't do them either. Some people just enjoy hiding, self-caring in a corner and being relatively useless, nothing we can do about it

If you choose to wait out corrupt its your doing. You could just go and find an unblocked genarator.

I’ve never seen nor played with anyone who has actually waited CI. It’s no wonder you find it boring to go against lol

    Corrupt is fine.

Hiding and waiting out Corrupt is the wrong way to counter it

I would always prefer Discordance over LP simply because a lot of times it's very common for two survivors to jump on the first gen. And you have access to the perk all match.

Corrupt is giving killer 1-2 minutes to find a surv and down them. It creates pressure, if a killer is not a in chase they're not creating pressure.

But corrupt over all is a symptom, that shows gen regression is crap. A killer needs to get early pressure because mid- late its hard to keep pressure up unless you have dead survs.

Until kicking gens becomes meaningful, and insta-tap repair stops being a thing corrupt will be pretty much mandatory for all killers.

i see that quite often. but I shouldn't care. if Survs just want to hide, I still have a little time to destroy walls or lay traps to make chases easier later.

OP is on point. All CI does is either artificially drag out matches, or actively work against the killer. Assuming you have smart survivors who wait out. It’s funny because you actually want survivors to work on the outermost gens first; and sometimes, CI screws the killer over by blocking gens all over the map instead of one area. All the while leaving him or her with three perks for the remainder of the match after two minutes are up.

I really don’t see the appeal.

Just look for a different gen, you aren't supposed to work on the first one you see anyway, thats how you get 3genned

Its time for corrupt to go... Into the base kit

Yep. Especially if survivors actually do get BT basekit.

It would be interesting to see a data pull of a bunch of games from a survivor player tracking how many killers ran Corrupt Intervention and what the kill rates are with and without it, and likewise with some other popular killer perks. A couple months back someone posted 400 games they had as killer and tracked survivor stats and it had some interesting stats you could pivot out of it, I’d love to see something similar from a survivor player.

Go find another gen to work on. Good lord. If survivors are waiting out Corrupt then that's their own foolish fault. Not the perk's.

Just wait two minutes, it goes by itself!

Corrupt Intervention is a band-aid for excessively large maps and the flaws with having survivors able to spawn separately. If large maps were reduced in size and survivor spawns were changed to either always be all 4 together or in 2 pairs, it would no longer be necessary. Shrouds should be removed entirely.

Adding secondary objectives so the killer would have enough time to play the game without camping and tunneling would be the only way to remove them from the game

I think Corrupt is fine and does its job. Survivors shouldn't be waiting it out. It's only going to work against mediocre/bad killers or on very specific maps. If you try to wait it out and fail, you're going to start the game with someone in a chase out of position and zero gen pressure on the survivor end.

There's this notion that survivors need to have the dial turned all the way towards reckless gen pressure or complete stealth with nothing in between, and that has always been really bizarre to me. If you see Corrupt, get to a safe-ish spot around 16 meters near an open gen. Wait until the killer does a patrol or wait until you see evidence that a teammate is in a chase. Then hop on a gen. No need to wait out the entire thing.
