How are you playing GF? If at all
So like many of you here may have noticed, Ghostface changes seemed to be an overall net negative to him. It's gotten to the point many are saying he is outright THE worst killer.
Now I agree that he is pretty awful to play against good swf, like not even worth playing at a certain time bad. But I think he's also had some cool things go for him since the add on changes that many people may or may not be experimenting with since his overall nerf.
I know it feels like you get revealed by gps satellite everytime a survivor is within 32 meters of you, but I was wondering if there is anyone else like me who occasionally like to squeeze blood from a stone and play the impractical killers, especially when you know they are bad, to try and find a successful build that makes them worth playing, and if so, what are you trying in him?
So far, my best results came from his new add on that let's you regain your power after breaking pallets (Olsen's wallet) with nemisis and pwyf. It feels like I almost always get a benefit chaising survivors with this build, whether I got a full stock or not, and at worse I get plenty of access to my power, but this should be a pretty map (and let's face it, survivor) dependent build. My other perks are Ruin*undying and add on Driver's license, if only I could find a better perk + add on synergy than what I already have.

I liked the idea of GF in the game, but I don't play him because I like more aggressive playstyles and refuse to "hide" from survivors and crouch around like that. I like Bubba, im coming after you and revving that chainsaw loud and clear so you hear me

What I tend to do is stealth the second I load into the game and try to stalk and down a survivor ASAP, once they're hooked I either get away a bit and stealth again then keep checking the area, usually I can find a survivor running to get the save and get them downed or I head to gens and check them and see if I can preassure them there.

Not a huge sample size but I had one game with him yesterday for the daily and it went great.
Lucked out with Midwich, got 6 marks, 5 of which were successful downs, and wasn't revealed once.
He's definitely weak on outdoor maps, but as long as you can put an obstacle between you and the survivors then you can prevent being revealed.
I was using his "reduce reveal range by 8m" though, which to me sounds pretty strong. They should probably reduce the default reveal range by 4m and have the add on cover the remaining 4m.

Honestly I felt the same way as you do for the longest time, but tbh I'm kind of getting bored with a chase focused playstyle. I feel like GF's power, when it works best, is super fun because you just immediately scare a survivor as soon as the stock gauge goes up and if they can't find you, they're almost assured to go down instantly, and being exposed a whole minute isn't negligible necessarily.
If it wasn't so easy to remove his power in the first place, he would be quite legitimate I would think, now with some of his better add ONS, and basekit 60 minute exposed. It's like playing an assassin's Creed killer, in theory... The buffs he needs are maybe basekit DL and he shouldn't be able to be exposed unless you can see at least 50% of his body in frame. I've been spotted by crouching survivors on the other side of a car and its like "I couldn't even stalk you, how tf can you expose me?"

Lovely! Killers have a competition on which one is worse instead of which one is the strongest.

I'm finding that the best strategy too. It's definitely a good idea to get an early down with something like Leathal pursuer if you can, then Play for the unhook. I try to balance returning to the hook and the closest 3 gen for that, be ause having no TR makes the pressure alot more palpable.

I actually agree with clown... Kinda hard to say with Sadako only because of mobility, but his stealth mechanic is just better and he has exposed so it's very possible

The answer is third person camera. Survivors can be completely hidden and still be able to see you, and that's never going to change.
You just need to work around it and assume that there could be a survivor around any corner. It's not that hard to adapt to, but you are very reliant on your surroundings.

I think that would be fair, the reveal angles need work in general I think though, because getting revealed from a perspective where you can't even stalk them back is a bit rough considering you're in 1st perspective

I don't know I main Ghost Face and I'm doing a lot better with Sadako.
I played Ghost Face one time after the update never again.

I get that the 3rd perspective is to their benefit here, but I don't think for instance, you should be able to use it in a way where the camera exposes him without full los, like if Feng Min doesn't have eyeliner of me, the player can angle the camera to where they bird's eye view me over the tall side of a car loop, I don't think that should be a thing, it should work more like spine chill where it is strictly within a cone of vision proportional a 45 degree LOS within the models eye cone.... I just think without that, playing outside maps is pointless and he becomes less powerful then Sadako

Oblivious when revealed add on and I don't neccesarily go for exposes that much.

Overall me too, but I want to give him the benefit of the doubt and get a few good games in with him. GF isn't new like Sadako so people didn't need to necessarily take time to learn (or re-learn, rather) how he plays. He got no buffer and only got easier to counter-play (although to the devs one credit, they gave him something in return, unlike with Deathslinger)

That's an interesting way to play him, I don't know if I even have that add on. What perks are you using to essentially make up for not having a power on him?

It's the yellow add on, dunno the name atm.
I use stbfl and some gen defence/anti loop.

I still haven't got GF sadly
edit: oh wait you meant GhostFace, not GirlFriend

🤣🤣 Get out of here, dude

How do you play a girlfriend I wonder.
1 -
No idea, but I certainly know how to lose one 😅

I wanted you to say "like the piano".
Dissapointed :P.

"How are you playing ghostface?" - Not very seriously. I just find it hilarious to play peek-a-boo and (maybe) give a survivor a bit of a scare when they get exposed status --- and then proceed to chase them "teabagging". Do you get a lot of hooks/kills like that? Absolutely not. Is it fun? Absolutely! 😂

Lol give me a break, I'm still working on my first cup of coffee

I found a guide on youtube the other day that's been pretty helpful for me, and rather than try to put everything in my own words I'll just link the video.
This was made pre-patch but seeing as Ghostie didn't get any core gameplay overhauls (other than reveal but he doesn't really go over it here) it should still be helpful. Addon part will be outdated of course.

Played him a few times since the update and did fine. I fully Mark survivors from a distance now more often versus trying to 99% Mark and then finish in close and it seems to work ok. The Mark lasting 60 seconds means you have quite a while to catch that person later, and worst case they get spooked off the gen they were doing for a bit while you switch targets. Plus the Marked survivors can’t break you out of stealth for 60 seconds which makes it a bit easier to stat cloaked to ambush someone else if you switch up who you want to chase. Going for 99% still can work too obviously, but you have to be a little more careful with it since survivors have a bit of an easier time breaking you out of stealth if you’re in the open.
The one thing I do see people do badly on streams with Ghost Face sometimes is not using cover to hide their approach. He’s not invisible, after all, the stealth is just hiding the terror radius and stain, so if you’re not using obstacles to break line of sight approaching a gen you’ll probably get spotted and maybe broken out of stealth.
Also on a side note you can use the stealth breaks to find survivors trying to hide from you, so it’s not all bad even if they do knock you out of it.

That's kinda what I'm trying too, longer distance stalks instead of closing in early, taking advantage of the other stalk time, whether that means chasing another survivor for a health state in between or applying pressure to gens.
I don't know if this is the case, but was the distance for his own stalking increased as well?

I don’t think the ranges changed? Per the wiki it’s 40 meters maximum stalk range and 32 meters reveal. (And Spine Chill is 36 meters so it’s possible to stalk from just outside Spine Chill range.)
