Does anyone actually like new Haddonfield?

I love the design, the map looks so pretty but... I mean, the map almost seems Killer-sided/unfun for both sides now. The street is a huge deadzone, not being near a building as Survivor is basically "you're dead lmao" in several areas, pallet-based loops on non-buildings become dead zones without pallets because of a lack of vaults... which Bubba/Leatherface loves... the map feels like a genrush map because of how moving between loops mid-chase is a struggle.

The map also seemingly ruins stealth killers because of how open it is and killers like Legion pretty much can't do their magic. Long ranged killers like Huntress and Artist can work with the open spaces, but because of how large the map is, Trickster and Deathslinger will struggle because their powers either work better at mid-range or have range limits like Slinger's gun.

Then again, maybe I just need more time, but the map feels bad to play on atm for both sides.

I don't like it because of the totem spawns. Once I had both my ruin and undying spawn in the same house. The loops are fine to me.

The gen outside Strode house is the devil.

imo its WAY too small for how open it is. I can see from one side to the other. Plus once the few pallets in the street are gone, the map is pretty much a deadzone. A part of me just thinks they made some new houses but just slapped a few bushes in between and called it good.

Poor design make everything unsafe pallets and dead zones and then still keeping the houses as the powerful loops for some reason

You had no right to make me laugh like that, ffs

On the topic of new Haddonfield, I've not had enough experience with it yet but I hope i'm not alone in saying that something feels really... Off about how the map looks? I'm not sure if it's some kind of uncanny valley effect or what but it just feels wrong

Like it's really dumb I don't know where the feeling comes from, the map just doesn't feel right to me, for some reason.

I like it but there are definite tweaks needed:

More upstairs gens like the original.

More distance between hooks on the main road: there are like 4 within about 20 steps of each other on some variations..

Removing some of the absolute ass useless palates.

Overall, it's not as bad as the old one.

But I have issues. The map should be longer, and narrower. You shouldn't be able to see the end of the road from the opposite end, meanwhile the street shouldn't be 4 lanes wide.

I'm not a fan but it's definitely more fair than the old one.

Almost every pallet on the map is not outplayable (at least as an M1-Killer). Some windows are awesome (main building, Killer needs to use it, cause the way around is too long - infinite...).

The map is not killersided, its more balanced now. Old Haddonfield was a free win for survivors.

Yeah but the street is mostly a massive dead-zone, with the map being focused on buildings for consistent looping and genrushing. 50% of the map isn't useable.

I LOVE the new Haddonfield map. I think it has a much scarier atmosphere now. The houses are terrifying especially against silent killers. I'm often scared to work on a generator in them. Maybe all of the generators should be in the houses. 😅

I actually kinda like the middle deadzone. Maze scurrying across the middle a risk and rather scary, especially against a stealth killer

Because they have access to the W key and you're not playing someone with literally any mobility. W key got superbuffed there, because we needed more of that thrilling gameplay

I don't know if like is the right term.

Grateful that old Haddonfield is gone for good? Absolutely.

Enjoying new Haddonfield? Wouldn't say that.

Visually, the map looks really good. It looks like it was pulled straight out of the Halloween movie.

But gameplay wise? It isn't the best. The street is a huge dead zone and it takes a millennium just to cross it. There's little to no pallets and the windows are really hard to use because the killer will just catch up with you no matter what.

I feel like it'd be a bit better if some of the houses were made a bit weaker and there were more loops in the center instead of a massive deadzone.

But it's still far, far better than the old one.

It has an Annabelle doll on the map. I love it.

I actually like the new Haddonfield. The loops are so different and so fun to loop the killer at. I mean sure, it's still heavily survivor sided but hey, funny loops xd

I still don't care much for the map, but hey it's better than getting Coldwind Farm every single trial I guess. The things I have come to like are the house loops (When the RNG is just right on window placement) and the tall shrubs, that's about it.

I think it's a huge improvement over the old Haddonfield, which was out of date and very easy as a Survivor.

I like the map quite a lot, it has easily the most balanced House of Pain, some semi-interesting loops and amazing atmosphere, however it does have several problems, the most obvious being bad hook and gen spots and the middle of the map being the biggest dead zone in the entire game

Still better then it’s old version, but it definitely still has issues that prevent it from being one of the best maps in the game

I like this version of it so much more. I can actually get from one side of the map to another in a reasonable period of time.

I don’t like it. It really is another Suffocation Pit/Azarov’s resting place type of map, but kind of worse. Easier for the killer to force a 3 gen if that’s what he really wants. Happened to me last Friday with a Deadslinger. He just camped the Myer’s side of the street because it had 3 nearby gens and the basement, all within close proximity. I caught on to what he was doing mid-game cause he wouldn’t follow me or other’s whenever we ran to the other side. Unfortunately my teammates didn’t catch on and we did get three genned. I had to Sacrafice myself to get that last gen done so my last two teammates could get out. It’s a good thing I kept at it constantly while we were at 2 gens left, or everyone would have died.

I’m burning the offerings so I can get more acquainted with it though. I still don’t know the loops.

Its not horribly catered to either side so even though its not perfect I'll take it with no complaint. There's multiple spots you can still abuse for both sides, plus it just went from being laughably Survivor sided to neutral for the most part. Depending on what each side brings/plays you'll see a variety of interesting match results here which is 100% better than having another map where its "Oh nice, the (insert role) gets a free win simply because this map is trash, how entertaining."

I don't care what side its for, if a map is severely lopsided like the old Haddonfield then its trash period. How anybody can even look at this as anything except a net-positive is amazing to me especially with the history of poor balance in this game

I like it. It feels more aesthetic to the Halloween series. I am having a hard time deciding if it is more Killer sided or Survivor sided. Appears to be a very well made, well balanced map. I wish they put this much effort and good work into all their maps.

Like can we get a Haddonfield update on Springwood next please?

i prefer it honesty, I do kind of think its survivor sided personally. Its fun pulling a Metal Gear Solid in the bushes as the killer walks by.

  • Viskod
    Viskod Member Posts: 854

The houses as well. You can straight up just disappear into the shadow with little effort. Hell, I didn't even know there was a locker in the main house upstairs in the room with the hook because it was so hidden by the darkness that it was invisible to me until I was trying to pick someone up and hit the prompt to open it by mistake.

I like new haddonfield ,i just wish middle part of map wasn't such a dead zone,,surely more fair than old one as it isn't miserable for killer to play in

The way people in this thread are throwing around the word "deadzone" shows just how entitled they think they are to a "loop" every 15 feet.

  • Witchubtet
    Witchubtet Member Posts: 640

As a Killer I want to point out that three of the houses actually have such big loops that killers loose their bloodlust build up. Making chases extremely Tedious.

Also there is a hole in the floor of one of those houses that no one can fall through. Confused me and a Meg a few days ago.

Interesting.. The Uncanny Valley effect, but not for faces, but for places. New Haddonfield looks like a place people could live in, like a street that could exists somehwere, yet subtle aspects of it aren't adding up, are slightly off-kilter or out of alignment. Its like an AI imagines human housing, yet its not right there, yet.

For a moment I thought that you were Sluzzy, but your comment was much more well thought through, so that threw me off. Still, I always despise hot takes like "autowin if you got 2 brain cells", the game isn't just that static and a lot can happen on any given map with any given killer. Well, unless you got a very competent SWF team, then you might be right that some matches can be anticipated to go in their favor.
