So if this Tome is about David...
Then why do the challenges, (Thus far) not require you to play David? Only to use his perks?
Seems a bit odd that the Twins challenges require you to play the Twins, But you can do the David challenges with anyone.
Edit: and to iterate the point the memory is called "the importance of being king." Yet you dont have to play "The King"

There are also Twins challenges that only require their perks and I am pretty sure there will be challenges that require you to play David in the upcoming levels.
I am not sure if there used to be at least one challenge per level for the featured Survivor in previous tomes?

I guess it's because there's so many challenges you can do when playing as a certain character (especially as survivor) and they didn't want to repeat any challenges from David's previous tome.

Maybe the title is tongue in cheek, as in he’s just not that important.
Maybe they wanna down play him after all the press he’s been getting.

People have been licking the boots of Behavior since they announced David's story developments, no way they want to down play it at all.
1 -
Maybe it’s a backhanded stab at representation. We made him gay but Ha! That’s not important and neither is he, gotcha!
(Before anyone takes offence this is a facetious gag about the irony of a tome called the importance of being king that so far only requires his perks not him specifically).
Edit: maybe it should be the importance of being like king, it’s not about him it’s about using his perks.

I prefer it this way. I only leveled up David enough to unlock his teachables.

You should always p3 50 every char especially survivors

You can play David for the challenges if you want. Are you really upset that players aren't forced to play as David? This is such a non issue to be concerned or mad about.
7 -
Why does it matter? Survivors are skins
6 -
Because the Twins are actually different instead of a reskin of the same person (23?) Times, just my guess

Most tome challenges don't force you to play their specific survivor, only their perks. This has always been the case; there might be one or two challenges like that in an entire tome. Killers are a little more 'use this killer' because powers aren't detachable, but even then, only 4/10 of the current challenges actually require you to play Twins and not just with their perks.
I don't see this as an issue, and we're not done with David's challenges yet besides. David's always been a really common sight to see in lobbies. And let's not forget that he's currently the only character in DBD to have starred in two separate tomes (he was the main survivor in tome 2, though tomes back then featured lore for more characters at once than they do now.)
1 -
Well im forced to play as Twins to complete some, why not have parity?
I did say thus far, in respect to what challenges have been revealed and so far 0/10 challenges have required you to play David. Just because he has been spammed before, and is now being rehashed should'nt mean that the challenges don't associate with the character.
0 -
How are the challenges not associated with the character? They require his perks or are styled after and titled after things David King would do.
This seems like such a bizarre point to harp on.

The twins have a unique power that the other killers can't use. Survivors don't. Why do you care about this? You're making a big deal over nothing and for some reason have a problem with players being able to choose which survivor they want to do the challenges on. Is your best or only argument that you have to play twins for those challenges? I'm sorry but I think you're being a bit dishonest here. I just can't see why the reasons you've stated moved you enough to make a thread about this.

I'll make sure I do that after I retire.

Nah, i don´t bother. Since survivors are just skins. Killer challenges make more sense, since the killers have different powers. But survivor challenges?
I´m just happy, that we don´t have something like "survive and escape 4 times using only No Mither"

I know its alot of work but the fact that quality rates increase is why

Yea I dont need more challenges to play characters I dont like. Playing twins for challenges is punishment enough
1 -
Well, not 4 times...

Playing a different survivor who has different perks and items unlocked just to complete a few challenges is not fun.
I do have David prestiged with just about every perk unlocked, but I still have my Ace preference. I can do the challenges, but I'm not begging to play David, even though I highly appreciate his lore.

Same goes for killers, If you have those killers.
Everyone has David, but not everyone has Twins.

And honestly that is a blessing for them.

Isn't the quality increase like 1%? Resetting a Survivor (skin) 3 times for a 3% rarity increase isn't worth it, especially when the rarer Items/Add-Ons aren't that good most of the time

I can understand your point why it's a little confusing that they haven't had a "play as David" type of challenge yet. It is a little odd that there wasn't one in tier 2 of the tome, but if you look at tome 10, they only had 1 Tapp challenge in the whole Tome, so they probably aren't singling out David. I think they might just be moving away from forcing players to play a survivor because survivors are basically "cosmetics."
Another thing is that usually playing a certain character is a master challenge, so they have a limited amount of master challenges they can make since they're worth more fragments and give lore bits. There's probably less play as a certain survivor challenges because they've started to incorporate different types of glyphs. It seems like they try to have a good amount of neutral challenges as well. All these factors are probably why they don't have as many survivor specific challenges.

Wait for the next chapters of the tome.

Makes me wonder if anyone ever made a thread like this for previous survivor tomes and challenges. Its such a non issue to complain about. And as has been said already, there probably will be a challenge where you have to play as David at some point in the tome which is perfectly fine because its a tome about him. I'll certainly play him to get the challenge done. I'm trying to get the new Meg outfit from the rift and the tome challenges really help the rift grind.

I hope you are happy now:( The David specific tome challenge is pain. Pure pain. They didn't make a "fun" David challenge, but just an annoying one that takes a bit of luck and not optimal gameplay.

As a side note, in David's earlier tome I think 'Dead Hardy' is bugged and 'Hatch An Escape' (escape through the Hatch after unlocking it with a key twice) makes me cry for not doing it before the Hatch changes.
1 -
You got what you wanted, hope you are happy

I know I remember reading in one of their patch notes that they were going to fix the bug to the Dead Hardy challenge. Don't know if that ever happened though. And same, wish I realized that the hatch challenge was there when hatch used to be easy.

There's 4 challenges that require you to play as the Twins, there is one that requires you to be David.

Even tho playing twins is the worst punishment there is, those challenges were easily done in one match each. This david challenge is gonna be throwing multiple matches and still might not get it cause these Hide X away from killer for Y seconds challenges are also bugged as #########

Again, you can play as David for all of the challenges if you want to. Literally nothing is stopping you from doing this. I'd really like to know why you're so concerned that not more challenges require David to be played to complete them. I mean I can take a wild guess, but I'd rather let you explain why this bothers you so much.

That assumption is ridiculous, the tome challenges were determined weeks before he got any press, as you put it.
0 -
The simple reason of parity.
The tome about David, even has the title "The importance of being king" But yet you have the option of not using David, yet there are 4 Twins related challenges that require you to use the Twins, it's not optional.
0 -
I don't know if you realized this or not, but all past tomes have always had more "you must play this killer" challenges than "you must play this survivor" challenge. Usually, the past few tomes only had 1 or 2 "you must play this survivor" challenge, but 3-4 "you must play this killer" challenge. For the simple reason of parity, it wouldn't make sense for them to do anything different for this tome. Now, if level 4 had even more Twins challenges and no more david challenges, then this would be a little strange since it doesn't follow that pattern, but as of now, they are on par to what distribution they've had in past tomes.

comedic irony isn't your strong suit is it?

In that case, killers are more unique than survivors. Theres a reason why so many people say survivors are just skins. Killers each have a unique power with unique blood webs. Survivors have neither of these things. Just for that reason alone it makes sense that a tome about a specific survivor would be put together differently than a tome about a killer.

Because every single tome has both character specific challenges and perk specific challenges? Literally look at any tome and you will see it's not just this. They try to get you to play the character, but also they want you to experiment with their perks (which is funny considering some challenges require you to bring nothing but the perk).

Ya'll realize that there are some pages left right? And most of the tome entries have had to do with the Twins, not David. His challenges may just be on the last pages. But dang he had a whole tome of challenges for him. I know I struggled through it. XD

People say a lot of stupid stuff on here, it's nigh impossible to know whether someone is serious or joking.

Nothing on this forum is really serious. Lets look at what its about, a computer game that has no consequential outcome on the world other than fun had while playing.
People take this crap way to seriously.
