Pips, blood points and MMR systems promote selfish and bad solo survivor gameplay

Warning : this is about the solo queue experience only, not swf
Pips : to earn pips, you need to get emblem points.
- Objective : push your teamates to destroy dull totem in a coh meta
- Boldness : push your teamates to get as many early stuns as possible on the killer, escape chases at all costs, wasting pallets instead of keeping some for endgame
- Altruism : push your teamates to do fast unhooks, because they are afraid to depip if they don’t do at least 1.
- Survival : push your teamates to overhide instead of repairing gens, playing for hatch very early on when they were still a chance to get a 3 or 4 surv escape
If we combined this with the bloodpoints and MMR system, the best strategy for a survivor who wants to earn pips, bloodpoints and escape (increase MMR) is to :
- not do any gens in early game
- instead run directly at the killer to loop him if you are confident you can win the chase and not be hooked (use as many pallets as you need) OR
- do side objectives like a dull totem, a chest, a boon then stay near the person being chase to flashsave, pallet save if you can or unhook, then take the chase and win it using as much pallets as you need
- at this point you have enough points in the boldness category
- now that a lot of pallets are gone and some gens repaired, start working on the last gens to max your objective category
- your teamates will start getting hooked because not many pallets are left, they can’t do miracles. If you don’t have enough points in the altruism category, you can unhook them asap or just finish gens and escape by the doors
- if the gens are not repaired and the probabilities are they won’t be, hide for the hatch to keep your survival emblem
Congrats, you have now earned your +2 pips, playing the best way possible for solo queue, the selfish way
Of course, another strategy would be to cooperate, preserve pallets, keeping dull totems for a survivor with a boon perk, not rushing unhooks, not giving up so soon, but that requires a swf team or to rework completely the pip system so that it is calculated as a team and not individually.
