It's Thursday, why not Tuesday as always?

Updates come (usually) on Tuesdays, though sometimes also other days. Rift levels open on Wednesdays and Events start and end often on Thursdays iirc.
in this case it could also be because the anniversary actually does fall on that day? Not sure about that though
