Upsurge In NOED
Anyone else deal with a recent upsurge of people running NOED? I ask cuz I play the game every once in a while and we plan on playing more with the new changes being implemented. But this week it feels as if every other game killers are running NOED, maybe it's just me.

Because in a healing meta where no one does totems and gens fly, noed is a reasonable choice. I sometimes run noed instead of any gen slowdown just for faster games, I hate ruin. I will run noed before ruin any day.

I'm not complaining don't get me wrong, just something I noticed cuz holy hell, hex seems like it's an all time high. My friend and I don't even run boons unless we're doing meme builds and so we don't mind cleansing totems.

I wanted to make a post about it but I didn't, last day I had like 5 matches all of them had noed killers and totems were difficult to find it's really unfair in SoloQ.

Did you escape?
Jokes aside, I don't see it very often....maybe 1 in 5 games.
Depending on the Killer choice of whoever you're playing, they may use it to patch holes in their power/gameplay/skill/etc.

Plus noed gives you a solid backup if you don't use gen regression perks which some do to better their skills.

That is often

Welcome to dead by daylight then. Match starts, survivors gen rush, they all get done, killer has noed, all survivors die, and racial slurs are said in chat. It’s been going on for a long time pretty much ever since the perk existed.

That wasn't the point of the post, was just pointing out something I noticed, I'm not complaining about it, just was surprised ^^"

Survivors feel that after 5 gens it should be tbag on the exit line time. NOED makes 'em panic.
we bring noed for the lulz!
Everybody do bones an NOED becomes YES ED

Noed is a outdated design that is knowingly abused by killers since it was added to the game. Ironically the killers abusing noed tend to have the same playstyles such as camping and tunneling, go figure.

I can't say I've noticed it more as a survivor but I know as killer I've put it on more and more basic m1 killers. Just tired of cocky survivors taunting me for the five minutes it takes them to genrush through the game as fast as they can.
It turns into a nice insurance plan. If they fly through, I can usually get at least one kill out of it. If they don't, I can choose to let them all go if it's been a good match and I feel like it.

Is it really an issue though?
I mean why do so many survivors run DH, because its strong and pretty straight forward to use and can bail you out of a jam when needed.
I'm surprised I don't see NOED more often than I currently do.
I should really run it more often myself, but I find against players that are even remotely aware of their surroundings it often doesn't last long enough to make a big difference or the game is over before it procs making it a dead perk.
Like a lot of killer perks, it really only swings an entire game when survivors screw up.

- People complaining about NOED (Not OP, which is why I'm not quoting them)
- People who have not identified all four of the killers perks and felt it was appropriate to leave totems up or not mark their locations for reference
Those two statements in a Venn diagram create, literally, a singular circle.

Funny you said this. I usually run NOED maybe 1 out of every 10 games, and only on certain builds, but I decided to give it a try for a few matches today, and I only got anything out of it (turned a 1K into a 3K) in the match I played just before I read this post earlier.
It's a decent perk when it works, but it seems like it's gone within 15 seconds of activating in a lot of games I play, before I even get a hit.
It's way overrated and only works against newbie survivors or if you actively protect it (which often means running away from a hook and two 99%'d exit gates and getting to the totem just as it gets cleased, leading to a 0K).
If I absolutely can't think of anything else to run in my current build, I might throw a NOED in there. It's a good generic perk for that and also a staple of endgame builds, but I have no idea why survivors hate it so much. If you're not cocky and you don't start playing badly during the EGC because you think you've already won, I get maybe one down out of it. Zero if you know how to counter it (memorize bones during match, find NOED when it activates).

upsurge in Dh Your point

and when did i mention DH? this isn't to be us vs them, DH is overrated but that's been used for awhile, NOED had really been popping off this month that's why i asked

I’ve been having to used NOED a lot cause gens have been going too fast so I need something to give survivors any pressure.

I don't like NOED, but I have been using it on Dredge with No Way Out and the addon that starts nightfall at the end of the match to make a spicy endgame.

Nobody cleanses totems anymore so running NOED is a for sure thing.

Even with gen regression perks they still fly like no tomorrow. I'd say NOED is a good choice tbh.
2 -
I hate using gen regression cause I wanna run different builds but I gotta keep NOED on for one slowdown.
2 -
Been using noed more because I have zero of my favorite perks on dredge so far

A lot of new & returning players. I attribute it to that.

lots of killers are back and offten it is newbie killer who run it for muilple reason but the main ones are.
1. They may not have other perks unlocked.
2. when running with the new killer they may have rushed to level it but got bad perks in the bloodweb
3.Sadly due to bad mmr baby killers have been going up vs full SWF and getting crushed so NOED becomes a clutch to maybe get one kill.
hell I only got like 300-400 hours and got match up vs one 7.5k two 3k and one 1.5k swf team and got uttly destroyed.
I think NOED will be used a lot for the next two weeks then either:
1. the killer gets better perks to replace what he has.
2. the killer stops playing killer and joins survivor or quits entirely.

I get that, I feel like the perk might end up getting stuck in the little rework pile that's coming this summer, the reason why I say this, is because there's a lot of usage for it now, since people don't want to run gen slowdown perks and are instead of running this. If they do, cool, if they don't cool.

Survivors hate it because it cheats a health state. The irony is of course is that killers hate Dead Hard for the same reason. Both should be removed or changed to an entirely different effect. At the very least NoED should be told to players when last gen is done rather then when someone gets hit.
NoED also makes camping very hard to deal with because being healthy and having borrowed time isn't enough. Sure sometimes the totem will be out in the open and be fairly obvious but some spawns are just nasty. It just encourages very unhealthy playstyles that anger people which isn't what a game should be about. Sure some people will get angry no matter what at perceived slights like 'gen camping' or 'gen rushing' as if that's not what both sides are supposed to do but at least in those cases they aren't frustrating by design.
From purely a balance perspective NoED is not an issue and it's much easier to counter overall then Dead Hard for distance but from a gameplay/fun perspective? Nah. It needs to go. Sure the game needs to be slowed down a lot too, but NoED is a band aid fix to that at best.

The difference, of course, is that NOED is counterable and doesn't appear until survivors have already practically won the game. You can (and good survivors do) shut it down immediately once it becomes apparent that a killer has it, so it works maybe once, if that (3/5 games I've run it on recently, I haven't gotten to use it once).
I wouldn't complain about NOED if it was a Boon totem, or if it only activated once per trial, or if it only activated once the killer had gotten six hooks or the last survivor was the only one alive, or all of those things, which would make it on par with NOED.
Dead Hard just gives survivors a third health state all game, every game with no counterplay or drawbacks. I can't agree that the two are comparable.
NOED is purely opt-in. If you know a killer has it and you go for the unhook instead of leaving the trial or looking for the totem like you should, you have no one to blame but yourself.

That's because most people who use NOED don't have other perks to use instead and are new killer players. NOED is a general perk that sounds great at first so why wouldn't you use it when you've got nothing else, the killers that use it often do camp and tunnel because they're new to the game and don't yet know all the ways they're "not supposed" to play yet.
Behaviours MMR data on perk usage backs this up by showing as MMR goes up, NOED usage plummets.
