Do you like that they are making the game feel more like a horror game?

The killer designs might get creepier and scarier but the overall gameplay heavily neuters any initial fear factor they might have had. As long as survivors remain the power role a killer won't be able to evoke fear in a genuine sense.

I think its a step in the right direction.

DBD has lost something a lil, yes you desensitize to it with exposure but its more than that.

Killers just feel less threatening/scary than they once did. You can play pretty bold as survivor and get away with it most games.

In the name of player participation the threat of elimination has been kinda watered down. That doesn't tend to help the horror element.

It definitely loses its scare factor over time so the goal then is to ramp up tension making the game feel scary because you feel under threat.

I'm looking forward to playing against the Dredge simply because of all the posts people have made about how triggered/uncomfortable/scary the nightfall effect is. I'm hoping its jumpscare Myers on an indoor map quality of spooky.

I hope they keep making oppressive effects that really mix up game play because that's good survival horror.

Yes. If I want to play a competitive only game, I'll go play something like Fortnite.

Freddy Kruger got bonked on the head 100 times over in the movies. It is not an uncommon thing lol

It would feel like horror if wasting valuable time doing the old poop dance meant imminent death, but there's often enough time to bag a couple BM's out and still make it to the next loop so yeah that ain't scary.

Survivor game play has been too bold and too cocky for too long, to the point people now expect to escape and have tantrums when they don't.

(People always did have tantrums but I feel like there is a greater expectation for escape these days from players conditioned to it via constant bold gameplay with little downside).

They might be trying. But if they want to succeed they're going to have to be antithetical to the meta gaming strategies that this community hounds them on that pushes this game more and more into a MOBA.

I still believe Mathius Claysen explains the essence of horror at its core, and probably has the best head on their teams shoulders to deliver the horror aspect that this game has been lacking as it gets meta'd. We've had to watch since at least 2018 this games visceral sensations get dulled down over time. More and more immersion breaking aspects got introduced into the game. More and more information gets introduced counter intuitive to horror elements, more and more power creep and meta number crunching gets introduced and risk gets eliminated. And I honestly hope at some point, for the sake of horror, they reel back in all the nonsensical BS that makes this game not horror. Cause at the moment, it feels like a game wearing a horror skin, instead of a game full of horror. Everything counts if they want to get it right. The matchmaking especially counts. People need to fear queing up with their friends or by themselves. Not because "Oh I'm scared to Queue up because theres some BS mechanic or annoying meta strat that I can count the milliseconds on" no. People need to be scared to queue up because "Dude that last game I got out by a literal hair" or "That killers power makes me spit my drink every time, I'm shook".

The reasons survivors have to hide keeps getting diminished over time. And while that strategy isn't everything. It is a sign that the clear and present threat of being caught.....isn't really a threat anymore.

For the love of god BHVR Mathius is brilliant...PLEASE LISTEN TO THAT MAN!

Yeah but freddy in the movies is also infinite. He can be anywhere any time to anyone thats sleeping, and kill people in their sleep. He doesn't have that kind of faculty in this game.

Yes absolutely! The dredge and the new map fit the game so well. The house on the map has some dark rooms which makes being chased by the killer even more fun. The dredge's nightfall ability is just great on any map because it turns everything dark and you can't see much of anything. I love it.

I’m still waiting for emotes on killers, always wanted to cut someone off at a doorway with spirit, become visible, then have her scream at them
