Was the Dredge not meant to have a second arm?
I've been thinking about this for a while and it is kinda ######### me up. I've noticed that in every single Dredge outfit, base, prestige, the three recolors and doll outfit, the Arm is named as if it was the Head of the dredge. On base it's called "The Dredge", on prestige "Bloody Dredge" and on Twisted Plaything, the "Porcelain Head". but the Dredge clearly has a head, just attached to it's main body. So why are all these cosmetics named wrong?
The "Body" of the Dredge (the pile of skulls and spine) is clearly seperated from its weird penis head and neck. At some point, the Dredge was just a weapon made of fingers, a pile of skulls, and a head, no arm in sight. If we consider that, then all the names of the cosmetics would make much more sense. However, at some point, the body and head were combined, and the extra arm was added and given the names the head used to have.
But why? well, i have a couple theories.
One, for gameplay reasons. When holding his power down, the arm creates a little effect, without that it would be harder to tell when hes gonna teleport.
It could also have been done for cosmetic purposes. Most killers have a weapon, but also a hand that holds that weapon. so when you change a body skin, you can see that as well. with a killer like Demogorgon, you can only see your weapon. since Dredge's weapon was part of it's body and not being held, you wouldnt have been able to see 2/3rds of your character.
It also was clearly done to give the killer a better design. I think seeing it float around without the arm would have been interesting, but adding the arm gives it an even more semi-human-but-not-really uncanny design, and makes it asymetrical.
But that last part sort of confuses me. unless they decided to add the arm EXTREMELY late into the design of the killer, why did they not have time to swap around the names and locations of the cosmetics? if anyone has any ideas or insight about that, i'd love to hear it.
