Why are survivors flashlighting lockers?

I don't understand. Is there something I'm missing about this that was in the PTB or something? Because afaik this does absolutely nothing.

EDIT: Forgot to mention this only happens when playing against Dredge.

    maybe they just want to alert you that there's a locker nearby, I don't recall hearing about any hidden dredge flashlight tech

    Nah, I've had this happen as the killer and then had them try to lock the locker. It was amusing. I've also seen this while spectating as a survivor who got tunneled out.

    For some reason they flashlight the locker before attempting to lock it.

    I've pointed at the locker the one time when I think the Dredge wanted to be sneaky, but I was more joking around because it was my first game against him. So I was being playful pointing him out. The only reason I could see survivors clicking at a locker with a flashlight is to notify other survivors of where they think Dredge is. Other than that, he's new and not everyone knows how he works yet. (Can't wait for my friend who plays once every few months to get the sh*t scared out of him)
