DS shouldn’t activate when the survivors are in the exit gate where Bloodwarden takes place. You’re basically out by then, and should leave immediately.
Meaning survivors who mess up cannot just crawl all the way out of the trial anymore at EGC once a gate opens. They can crawl in front of a gate where another survivor can pick them up before the 60 seconds end. They can also use the 60 seconds to crawl somewhere they know where there’s no hook in an attempt to wiggle free, and then run for it.
If they attempt to crawl past the door into the open area itself DS should deactivate, and the killer gets to pick up the survivor.

The match is not over till all survivors are killed or have escaped not when 5 gens are done, not when you start to open the gates and not when the EGC has started. There are perks like no way out which needs the gates to be open to use but by what your saying is that at that point the killer has lost the game and should let the survivors get the unhook and wait out the time and then hold the survivors hands while they escape.
No way out alone can get you kills if people are on death hook put in NOED and there is even better chance of getting kills because the match is not over yet, as for the topic yes DS should deactivate if a survivor starts to open the gates as they are still progressing the game for it to come to a end, if you want to keep your DS don't open the gate and let someone else do it.

The 5th Gen should deactivate DS.
That being said, this is only an issue if you don't "tunnel" survivors.

Survivors would just get downed before opening the exit gate. DS, then promptly open and escape.

Imagine not always having that option because the other survivors are at the exit gate on the other side of the map

As soon as you touch the exit switch you should have DS removed and the same goes with crawling inside the exit gate zone.
If you aren't being tunneled you wouldn't be able to open the gate.

I agree with touching an exit gate but not if you’re crawling in a gate if you haven’t interacted with anything.

Like i said the games not over till survivors leave get kill, survivors need to stop being entitled by thinking 5 gens are done we have won, sorry your still playing the match and if killer NOED and blood warden makes in harder to escape when blood warden is up and using your theory if blood warden is up survivors deserve to die because they didn't because the were rushing to much.
