Should SWFs Be Removed from DbD?

No but they should get some debuff.

Apply debuff to swf. The debuff should be a content that increases in effect a little bit in proportion to the number of people in the swf.

If you really just "enjoy playing with other friends", you should be able to play in the swf even if you are subjected to some debuff.

There should also be a separate reward and disclosure of swf members to the solo q and killer players who played together after that game.

You should add that you have 10 hrs in the game so we all know where you’re coming from

No and no? What kind of game punishes people for just playing together?

This was suggested like 74938483 times on this forum and it never ceases to amaze me how people don't realize how bad this take is. Do you even have friends?

SWF honestly just make games very stressful

the fact that i got stressed with Amanda's letter (basically wallhacks with couched) is something special

if anything i think they should give killers addons to help or just make it so u can invite only one person (2 in total)

or just fix the gen placements, a back to back gen is just the pinnacle of bs

Swf's duo only for ranked. Duo's who lobby dodge to play with their friend's duo get a 5 minute cooldown.

4 mans in kyf and give them half bp gain. And if they can't find killers for this, give them a reward for playing in kyf.

Can't earn Bloodpoints or anything else in that mode. You know the grind of this game, no matter what tweeks are done

NO, they just need to account for 4 people sharing one brain and change the objectives so there is minimal benefit to coms.

We've been over this time and again. Removing SWF is not the solution, and neither is letting killers choose if they want to play against SWF. The solution is to reduce map sizes, buff solo's and buff killers.

How can this Thread have 3 pages?

The correct answer is: No. And think before you are posting. Nothing more is needed, seriously, how can this even be a discussion?

  • イエローミント
    イエローミント Member Posts: 200

No, we are not punishing them.

SWF has an information gap with soroq just for teaming up.

Knowing in advance what perks your teamed friends have is already more powerful than soroq.

Also, this game should be a horror game where you survive by groping with limited information, not a game where you play against a team with a walkie-talkie.

It should be necessary to debuff SWF to remedy the difference.

When I play SWF with friends, I don't use voice chat because I don't want to have an advantage over killer or soloq.

As making fundamental changes to the maps and killers would probably take a while, they could start by just giving killers a massive BP multiplier based on how many SWF’s are in the lobby.

Four person squad? Enjoy 4x the BP. Two pairs? Same thing. Three person and a solo? 3x BP for you. If incentives to play a certain role at certain times (and let’s be honest, we all know this means killer) are supposedly coming then the devs might as well throw this in there as well.

Obviously it’s not a proper fix but at least it’s a reward for playing against more unfavourable odds. And you’re not nerfing SWF so no one can complain from the other side.

Why do people still ask this question? This would kill the game. This isn't even an opinion, it's fact.

  • SmarulKusia
    SmarulKusia Member Posts: 819

Or they could just add voicechat to the game so that people have the choice of open communication, and it starts to eliminate the skill difference/perk difference between SoloQ and SWF, and the game can be balanced more around the philosophy that everyone is playing with the capability to communicate.

  • sulaiman
    sulaiman Member Posts: 3,219

No, swf shouln´t be removed from dbd. However, solo queue should be seperated from swf queue, and both should be balanced seperatly, because solo might need the killer/survivor balanced put a little more in the survivor direction, while the balance is different in swf and should make killers a little bit stronger(or survivors weaker).

However, the end goal would be that both modes give equaly balanced matches, so it makes next to no difference for a killer to play either mode, with the exception of meme builds that don´t work against communication.

  • N8dog
    N8dog Member Posts: 541

Let's say SWF is disabled. The player count drops, dbd is no longer enjoyable as a fun time with friends. Daytime killer queues become longer and people playing on same hardware STILL set up parties for information. So basically it STILL happens AND the community falls apart.

  • HarlockTaliesin
    HarlockTaliesin Member Posts: 763

There's a problem with that, though: Having to be in voice comms with the other players of this game. I'd rather deal with hook camping bubbas than listen to some sweaty dudebros greatly overestimating their skills every trial. The very thought makes my teeth itch.

More on-screen info would be better received (base Kindred, et al).

Thank you for your kind attention. I appreciate your thoughtfulness.

I always translate and read this forum since the Japanese forum has been closed.

I know there are differences between servers in each region, but I feel SWF is a threat to soloq and killer on any server.

I think that adding a slight debuff to SWF would make the game experience "more dbd" rather than increasing the power of soloq and killers to match SWF.

  • Nazzzak
    Nazzzak Member Posts: 5,851

Nope. I'm a solo survivor and I recognize absolutely how detrimental swfs can be to the solo survivor experience, but at the end of the day it's a game. I couldnt imagine telling people they cant play a game with friends.

  • Kaitsja
    Kaitsja Member Posts: 1,838

That's not even mentioning the fact that voice chat can't really be moderated without then having to go the extra mile to record all in-game conversations.

Why would the side that already gets the highest amount of blood points be rewarded even more just for playing?

    Again, what a bad take

  • HauntedKnight
    HauntedKnight Member Posts: 388

Why is it a bad take? It literally doesn’t impact any of the actual in-game mechanics. Nor does it stop people playing with their friends, which is what some people genuinely think should happen. That’s a bad take.

Giving a BP bonus is a minuscule reward for the extra difficulty and stress that playing against SWF can bring. Also yes, killers who play well do get more BP. As they should. But generally whenever I have a good game playing either side the killer will get between 28,000-32,000 BP on average whilst the survivors who played well can get around 22-25K- it’s really not that much of a difference.

Please explain why killers getting more BP is bad for the game. There’s literally no reason you can give outside of you possibly thinking it’s unfair and both sides should be rewarded equally. Which is laughable if that’s the case.

  • egg_
    egg_ Member Posts: 1,933

There's no extra stress coming from "playing vs a swf", because most of the times you're not even against a swf. People just like to blame their losses on that.

And again, Killers ALREADY get more bp.

It's a bad take because most people playing in a group aren't going to perform much better than same-level survivors placed together by match making. There's no reason to reward killers on ghosts they come up with on their own. If you can't handle the "stress" of playing killer, don't play it. Simple as that

No, but offer a solo queue experience.

You still haven’t answered why killers getting more BP than survivors is a bad thing. I acknowledged killers get more BP, but like I said in the grand scheme of things it really isn’t much more.

Also why is it as soon as people bring up arguments against powerful things from survivor gameplay why do people like you default to the “most players aren’t even that good” argument. That’s literally what everything always boils down to and it’s a fallacy.

It’s the same as the “most people dead hard into a wall” nonsense that gets spouted when talking about something that in the right hands is very powerful. A good SWF brings communication, efficiency, teamwork and a level of coordination which increases the difficulty for a lot of killers. How much that increase in difficulty is depends on the intentions and skill of the SWF. And of course the frequency at which a killer faces a SWF can also be debated, I totally accept that.

But even average SWF’s can still operate on a very basic level which does make the game harder. “Killers chasing me, you guys do gens”. “I’m going for the save I’ve got BT”. “I’m in this corner of the map and there’s only one hook nearby, someone get the sabo”. “The killer is GF, watch out”.Do you honestly think call-outs like that can’t be done by literally any group of people playing together? It takes absolutely zero skill and yet increases the difficulty of game for the killer. So yes, killers should get more BP. Again, if you have a problem with that it’s just bizarre.

The idea that you would wanna take the social aspect out of a social activity is strange.

Just buff solos and killers to match swf rather than taking one of the most fun aspects of this game for people out.

I don't understand the demonization of SWF tbh yes there are grief squads and wannabe comp teams but most are just friends wanting to have fun with each other so just chill they're not out to ruin your lives smh.

Then just like any other game, you have the option to mute individual players or opt out of voice chat, seems like a self-inflicted issue with a long-winded solution than to JUST have voice chat lol

My exact thought here. If SWF wasn't an option in this game I think dbd would seep into oblivion over night. Its one of the few things in my opinion thats holding this game together still.

I would like to divert the upcoming VSBOT that will be added and have the BOT do all the SWF opponents. (BOTs will fill in all the missing players).

You will be matched at a speed that is unmatched now and you will get BP.

We think it would be a great game, no matter how much you taunt your opponents, no one would be unhappy.

Frankly, I don't think the game will die if SWF is removed.

I believe that the game has at least that much potential and SWF is killing even that.

  • JPLongstreet
    JPLongstreet Member Posts: 6,003

The devs have said several times they have no plans to add in-game voice chat. Among their reasons are language barriers and the plentitude of third-party options for it already out there.

I also doubt they want something else to have to code into the game, and to police as well imo.

Removing it gonna certainly open up more gameplay but then some of those people gonna just try to SWF with PuG and makes matchmaking miserable

It's funny to see killers reactions to SWF's when they are so accustomed to the clear advantage they hold over solo que players, playing the game without comms and no built in tools of any kind isn't fun or engaging but only frustrating and inevitably leads to very unexciting matches.

The game has been stated many times to be reasonably balanced when it comes to SWF vs killers when all skill is considered equal so it's kind of a red flag when killers start to bring up balance regarding it. Honestly sounds to me like most killers are so accustomed to manipulating solo que matches however they see fit that once they are faced with a much more coordinated team that the comfort they once had is now threatened.

  • fulltonon
    fulltonon Member Posts: 5,762

Killers have no advantages over solo que players, they have advantages over bad players but that's about it.

Oni also needs buff he should start with blood fury so you can get quick down and have blood orbs all the time to collect. Pre dropping pallets and coh hurt him so he is too weak now. Nurse has her power at start so there is no reason why oni can't as well.

I don't think SWF should be removed any more than I think NOED should be removed. The comms are a ggameplay problem, and in my opinion it would be neat to see some sort of positional audio added to the game(ie, Survivors can only hear each other to communicate within a certain radius), but that wouldn't prevent people from just using Discord, etc. It's not a simple fix.

I am a killer Main and deal with a few SWF teams sometimes its a pain in the a** but, i don t think that "remove" is the best solution to be honest... I guess the Main problem here is the Meta perks and the gen repair speed... About meta perks devs said that they are reworking 45+ perks overall (Something that i am afraid off...) About the gen repair speed the Dev (Patrick) in a Q&A Said that the gen speed "its not a problem".... So... I see people with 1000h+ time spent in the game, and a Dev that probably has only 10h time spent in the game says that the gen speed its not a problem... I don t know maybe we are playing dbd wrong...
