Opinions about Billy
What happened to Billy? I mained him for 2.k hours but stopped playing for a good year or two, now he feels kinda garbage with all the indoor maps and save loops. Any tips of Billy mains or should I just main Nurse/Blight? NGL my first few matches were really frustrating...

He's been miserable to play since map reworks and his harsh nerf. I only consider it for the more rewarding daily rituals (chase and mori) and Archives. His add-ons need to be revisited.

I tried him but can´t play him.
I don´t get the steering.

He's got the same problem as Cenobite - very hard to play well, not strong enough to justify the effort involved.

You need to use LoPro Chains with green Engravings. To make him viable.
Also there is one thing that has been bothering me and I need to say it. Did bhvr really make an addon that activates when you get blinded on a killer that comes with the perk lightborn?

I used to main Billy before he got nuked. I only play him now when I have a daily for him. I agree with other comments about his add-ons. Nearly all of them are trash

Yeah it’s definitely been rough the overall mechanics remained the same but you’re punished if you try to aggressively use your chainsaw and new maps changes have been brutal

His basekit is really strong so they gave him poor addons. I don’t have issues playing him tbh, often feeling that two gen regression perks is overkill. But really wish he had more good addons to pick from.
Most addons have no effect on the match or are nullified by the map. Turn speed addons or the Iri Brick become wasted if Lery’s pops up for example.
Also, Engravings are massively overrated by the Billy community. The additional chargetime makes his saw unusable at many many loops. Too many. I imagine many new Billy players are playing with his ‘best’ addons and rightfully having a terrible experience.

He's really only viable with LoPro/Green Engravings, and even then it's a stretch and very map dependent.
I'm thoroughly convinced that every map rework involves a final anti-Billy pass where random filler junk is added to a corner of every tile to make it un-curveable for Billy. The anti-Billy pass also involves making sure his chainsaw will collide with any bush or tree branch if the player has seen it at any point in the trial.
He feels terrible to play. I don't know why they did this to him and why they've been so stubborn about such an unpopular nerf/rework.

One of the strongest killers in the game and one of the only killers to have an enormously high skill curve and to be fun and mostly fair to fight. Most of the complaints towards him come from people who just picked him up or are bad with him and don't want to learn. Overheat never happens in real matches. I'd argue the only nerf he got was the changes to his charge time addons, which you're insane if you think were fair, and he got a bunch of strong ones in exchange like lopro chains, apex muffler, mother's helpers, heavy clutch, and they didn't even nerf his speed addons. Heck you can even still get instasaw with certain add-ons, but at least there's SOME downside.
I think when artist blight and nurse are nerfed, he will be in the top 3. Only if you're a god Billy though, and only on some maps, but you can say the same thing about blight too. Except unlike blight billy takes more than 2 braincells and has actual counterplay that isn't "hope he doesn't exploit" and "go behind a wall, oh wait he flicked and hit me with his truck sized hitbox".

Imo he's still pretty strong and a lot of the community, or maybe just the vocal minority, overexaggerate how weak he is now just because they got used to how dumb some of his old add-ons were (instasaw).
Overheat is a mixed bag for me. On one hand it doesn't really do anything if you're good at the killer and punishing if you're not, so all it's really doing is turning people away from learning him. On the other hand having a Billy fly all over the map constantly checking the gens until he finds someone to then one-shot was one of the most obnoxious things me and my friends had to deal with back in the day, which was made worse by the previous add-on problem.
But it's probably better to just remove it.
Maps have been getting worse for killers in general, it's not just Billy. Unfortunate as that is.

If you are good at survivor you will probably never get chainsawed unless you are on a deadzone, because as someone who has seen and learned about curving, its very easy to avoid it as survivor, deadhard stops chainsaw sprints as if they had hit, so there is that, and most collision hitboxes on new maps or reworked ones make using his saw in loops absolutely imposible.
A killer that can kill bad/mediocre survivors if you get good with him but if you playing against someone who has any idea about the game there is so reason for them to get chainsaw (if you dont block windows that is).

Thanks for all the comments, I'm relieved that some people feel the same but I'm sad for Billy.
I think the map changes are the most impactful, it feels like the chainsaw is now (if at all) a tool to get from one side of the map to the other rather than something you use aggressively in a chase to put survivors down.
Sidenote; I played a few rounds of Blight (haven't played him much) and I don't even know why I would ever go back to Billy apart from memeing.
Have a good day all

He can be strong but not worth the time and effort, play better killers

Not a billy player so my only observations about Billy are
1. I think they're the most mechanically intensive killer to learn not nurse.
2. I don't think billy is anywhere near as "dead" as people suggest they're just not as fun to play anymore and that's almost worse.

I have about 22k saws on Billy. I'm top #30 in the world for saw downs and I stream him pretty much daily. His addons are garbage. His basekit is too slow. The stagger you suffer from slamming into walls and using the chainsaw for distance make him completely terrible to play. Billy suffers greatly in high MMR and even when you stack slowdowns, you oftentimes get about 3-4 chainsaws before all the gens get done. If you don't use the saw for backrevs, it's very easy to counter against survivors who pre-drop and hold W. The meta left Billy behind a long, long time ago. Even with old insta-saw, there are many games

Yea but he is the only Killer I know of that can fly so gracefully in the sky only to dive bomb you with a chainsaw death drop

They added a yell at the beginning of the chainsaw. He was never the same after that.

High effort, low reward.
And everyone just predrops against me when I play billy.

Billy takes a lot of time to get good at but feels really rewarding when you do learn him, his add ons are really the only thing that got nerfed when they reworked him back in 2020 but his base kit basically feels the same.
If you're overheating you're misusing your chainsaw, plain and simple

Not anymore lol

Dont play a high effort low reward killer. He is terrible against good survivors even with his "best" addons (note that Billy doesnt have any good addon). Dont play Billy until devs finally fix him.

Still possible
