If dh becomes decently nerfed with the perk overhaul....
Please nerf sprint burst also. Otherwise survivors will just switch to a sb meta. Even though sprint burst may not be in the top ten used perks for surv, 4 people running it would just be annoying and kinda perpetuate the shift w gameplay that's already quite present in dbd. I think a simple but effective method to make sb less annoying to face is make the exhaustion timer for it 60,70, or 80 seconds so after you hook someone they probably won't have it back.

As killers we do have to accept that survivors ultimately do need some manner of survival tools. Sprint Burst (and I expect Overcome) will probably see a sharp rise if Dead Hard can't do what Dead Hard currently does anymore. That said, knowing that your target is exhausted at the start of a chase gives you a much better deal to consider strategically when deciding whether to commit or disengage than discovering it at what would otherwise be the endpoint of a chase (with Dead Hard).

I agree but I still think every exhaustion perk should have a bit of risk and reward, even if it's as simple as not running into a wall when you have overcome. At the moment sprint burst just recovers so fast and is also just as disgustingly good as dh. And if dh isn't ran by a lot of survivors anymore, people will just gravitate to it when the whole point of the overhaul is to not have the same perks used by killers and survivors.

@xestioc You're absolutely right. While no DH will be nice, I remember the days of absolutely everyone Sprint Bursting away from you, and it was ######### miserable. If 1 person runs it, it's fine. If a whole team runs it, playing as killer is mentally draining because everyone is always safe, you can't ever "just drop chase and find someone else."
There will almost certainly be a new Sprint Burst meta, and it will lead to understandable complaints about killers wanting Dead Hard back because of how it's just a different kind of unfair misery.

I agree as well! Though I think it's kind of inevitable that some "meta" will form and that a lot of people will adhere to it - that's how it works in all competitive spaces. The real tells will be about how much variety there is, and how likely the meta is to see more shakeups of this scale in the future.
Like, I am definitely bound to get tired of seeing the signature "survivor is just walking away for the first few seconds you see them" sprint burst tell, but I'll adapt accordingly.

I don't think Sprint Burst is as bad as Dead Hard, not even close. It's annoying to have someone motor away from you at the start of a chase, but at least you'll know they're exhausted afterwards-- not to mention that SB is weaker against the tools that killers can use to inflict Exhausted, like Fearmonger.
Sprint Burst every match would get annoying, but something tells me most players aren't going to want to micromanage their exhaustion perk the way that Sprint Burst needs. I'd imagine most would rather pivot to Lithe, among a few others.

You're absolutely right that there will always be a meta, but I don't think we have to be accepting of a Sprint Burst meta just because it's better than a Dead Hard meta. For instance, a Lithe meta wouldn't bother me in the slightest, a Head On meta would be hilarious fun, and a Power Struggle meta would be, imo, explicitly healthy. Sprint Burst just isn't a meta I can be satisfied with.

I actually read a comment in another thread that said Fearmonger actually helps people 99% their Sprint Burst, and I think they have a point. I'm not sure it's a good counter.

It depends on the context -
If the survivor has sprint burst off cooldown, then it's great because they can use that 5 seconds of exhaustion to try and time a sprint burst mid-chase.
If the survivor has just used sprint burst to escape a chase, they can't work on gens and recover sprint burst at the same time, which is potentially a lot of forced downtime.

Yeah, good point, but that's also basically what I meant. Sorry for not clarifying.

DH is thousand times better than SB, that perk can extend first loop but can't really loop one more time.

Sorry, but NO. That is downright ridiculous. SB is already nowhere near what DH could do. DH offered imperviousness PLUS speed, on top of being MANUALLY triggered when the survivor chooses. There is no such control with SB. Not to mention SB just has the temporary speed boost, and it's ONLY for a measly 3 seconds (which is nothing), nor is the exhaust time quick without vigil. What you're requesting makes no sense in hindsight. How do you nerf SB and still make it viable? It's not like it keeps survivors from getting caught like DH. SB is nowhere near as much of a life-saver as DH has been.
I vote that if SB gets nerfed to a longer exhaust cooldown of 60 seconds then its running animation should be extended to 5 seconds at tier 3.

Not everybody can loop effectively, and so it has to still be helpful to other less-skilled players.
Just because someone gets good at using a game ability doesn't mean that it needs to be nerfed because they've gained an advantage using it, especially if nerfing it disadvantages other players (using that perk) that don't have the same prowess as the other player.
That's like us having a car race and I was a race car professional who beat you in a beat-up vehicle because I understand turns and slipstream, etc. What? Are my wheels supposed to be removed because you think I'm at an advantage using a mediocre car? That wouldn't be cool.

No. Sprint burst doesn't need a nerf. Use Fearmonger if exhaustion perks bother you so much.

Sprint Burst is the perfect definition of a high risk, high reward perk. It's a powerful exhaustion perk, that comes at the cost of not always being available in every chase. No nerfs needed.
