Why u are doing it ? Are u so scared of Lightborn a Meme Perk? Or do u want to be toxic because alot Players who Pick flashlights want to Troll the Killer?

Everytime i See a Survivor Switching to a flashlight in the final Second i dc before the Match Start because im pretty Sure the Survivor want to be toxic and do clicky clicky .... i mean if u dont want to be toxic or ur are Scared of Lightborn Why do u Switch in the final Second?

Don’t let it bother you. If you choose to play through the match, ignore the flashlight user and tunnel out the weakest link. Just make sure to pay attention to your surroundings before you pick up, use knock out so you can bleed them out or play Pyramid Head and use cages.

So you dc from matches when a survivor brings in a flashlight?

In my case, this only ever seems to happen when I'm playing Wraith or Hag, so yeah. I'll dodge the flashlights, and if you change last second, I have no reason to stick around because you've just completely robbed me of my power.

People really assume everyone has bad intentions on this game. The amount of times I've switched survivors or items just last minute because I forgot... lol. I find it odd that people would DC from a lobby/game just because of that one item.

They want to play a game in order to make things more difficult and annoying for me, I'll do the same their group. Collective punishment since their role is a team role. Maybe they'd learn to be better sports about it, if not, I'll take the easy route and ignore Mr Clicky Clicky and take out the weakest link. It's only playing the game and fulfilling the role.

I feel like recently survivors have realised flashlights aren't the most meaningful items in the game. Sure, they're very useful to have against Hag and Nemesis, and sometimes killers just let you get flashlight saves, but

from what I've seen recently, most survivors that last minute swap do so into medkits.

Oh, my God, I know. I don't barely ever run light born, but when I see a survivor add it at the last second, it just makes me laugh because I know the reason why they're doing it

I just wish I didn't have to sit there for 60 entire seconds. Just equip it and press ready, stop wasting my life. Especially if you are going to DC because you go down first.

    GoshJosh Member Posts: 4,992

Lightborn is not a “meme perk”. It completely negates an entire item from having any use at all (outside of a few killer powers). The most expensive flashlight possible costs a survivor 19,000 BP to put together. A meme perk is something like Diversion and Deception.

Also, players like you are the reason BHVR needs to extend DC penalties to anytime a player DCs past the lobby, and should switch lobbies to work like they do in DbD Mobile. Survivors are allowed to want to bring an item without a killer being able to fully deny it by simply equipping a perk. Let killers equip Lightborn before they see a lobby if they want to shutdown flashlights so badly.

    GoshJosh Member Posts: 4,992

If it were up to me, you wouldn’t be able to back out of a lobby at all (once all five players are found). So sure!

Your power isn’t robbed. You don’t risk the chance of losing it after a match ends. And if anything, survivors are the ones being robbed whenever you bring in lightborn or franklins but you can’t see through your entitlement so. 🤷

I'd be much more worried about a 5 second swap to a medkit than a flashlight if I'm being honest.

Honestly, I have a friend who is prepared for that, they have the preset loadouts now. If they see a flashlight, they switch to Lightborn.

And this is only one of the reasons why I run Lightborn. Another build that I run as a Survivor (but more people are using to troll) is the Scavenger Build. Plunderer's Instinct, Ace in the Hole, and Appraisal. Basically they go as follows... PI = Greater chance of a rare item from chests, AITH = Guarantees one or two add-ons to the item pulled, and Appraisal = Allows you to "Double-Dip" into three separate open chests. You are pretty much guaranteed to pull multiple keys, flashlights, toolboxes, and medkits all with add-ons. It's a fun build but some are doing this so that Killer can't see a flashlight in the Matchmaking screen... increasing the odds that they might switch-off Lightborn if they have it.

I got such a preset loadout, too.

Mine includes Agitation, Starstruck, MadGrit and Lightborn.

Tbh people with flashlights usually chase behind killer trying to get beamer saves,,those are people not on gens,,i love my beamer juicer wannabes,,,they can bring their beamers all they want,,i even give them nods after failed saves 😂

I tunnel the clicky clicky and if he turns to ve actually good looper well then I chase someone else. But lot of times these clickers are easy go get I want to punish them not their innocent teammates which probably are not part of their team (sfw).

Not to be rude but if you are bothered by this and you actually lose to a team that purposely brings an item so they can follow you around....you kinda have to play better?

Last time this happened to me as a Nurse (Nurse can be burnt as Warith as well) I ended the match at 4 gens

  • Akumakaji
    Akumakaji Member Posts: 5,487

Thats why I always kinda play like if I don't have Lightborn, when I use it, ie trying to avert my gaze, quickly look up and to the side when picking someone up. Usually the flashlight user will think that they juuuuust were a tiny bit off and try again later, instead of totally abandoning their idea if you just blatantly show them that you can't be blinded. Its all in the mindgames *ominious music cues*

They also have infinites in dbd mobile, you want to bring those back too?

  • Akumakaji

I have this Bubba build that I love to play that is just tooled to be maximum annoying to survivors: Franklins, Bamboozled, Starstruck and either BBQ for BP or Lightborn for fun.

  • GoshJosh
    GoshJosh Member Posts: 4,992

Yes! Me wanting DbD Mobile's pre-game lobby means I want everything from DbD Mobile in the base game. How'd you know?! You smart one, you.

  • TeabaggingGhostface
    TeabaggingGhostface Member Posts: 3,108

People should be allowed to back out if they want to, and the killer seeing survivor items is one of the few advantages they have

  • CashelP14
    CashelP14 Member Posts: 5,564

True but generally a good survivor will know if they weren't getting a beam or will also test it out earlier at a pallet. Once I know you have Lightborn I just on gens since I have nothing else to do. No reason to loot and chest and I want to keep my item.

  • Huge_Bush
    Huge_Bush Member Posts: 5,424

I just stopped playing killer because I got tired of people trying to annoy me and I really didn’t like tunneling or camping anyone. It just seemed that survivors were playing to annoy and frustrate rather than having a good game, so when they did, I did the same to them. This was before cross play was a thing tho, so it was less randoms and more swfs since I played killer in the evening at that time.

  • Deathstroke
    Deathstroke Member Posts: 3,522

Those matches are minority for me usually survivors just try to survive and do gens. I tunnel or camp sometimes when I have to but usually I go for chases.

i don't fault anyone who runs Lightborn or who doesn't like to go against flashlights, but to me, the flashlight is the most over-rated item in the game. I'd rather see four beamers than I would med-kits or toolboxes.

Four-flashlight squads you KNOW are going to be overly-altrusitic, to the point of making catastrophic mistakes that end up with everyone on a hook a LOT more often than actually getting effective saves, once you learn how to play around them. I've gotten numerous 4K's at 4-5 gens left against those squads, and it's always because the survivors are so greedy for a flashlight save that they put themselves at risk.

Dont let it bother you. I would use it as a chance and try to learn to play against flashlights.

All hail our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

Also, anyone that last second switches, you won't have any game with me. Enjoy sitting on gens the whole trial. I play to have fun and not someone trying to annoy me.

Doesn't matter if it's a flashlight (i always run lightborn since i don't care about win/loss/kills but BP) or other items.

Last second switch indicates for me an inherent intend to tryhard while i want to play casual. So instead of tryharding to kill them i will ignore them and play with the others. And when all 4 are tryharding then i will halfheartedly chase and go for my bbq stacks and open the doors asap.

Usual ends with the 4 schmucks sitting in the exit and tbagging for the whole duration since they couldn't annoy me during the trial.

And before anyone comes " But i guess you had to already be annoyed to play like that blablabla", not really i had that 2-3 years ago maybe but nowadays i recognize the situation pretty early and act or better, stop trying accordingly.

When people last second switch I just dc on the loading screen. Want to act funny, sure, on another lobby tho.

I just don't wanna be dodged or face a killer with lightborn, I'm not a clicky clicky, just wanna go for flashlight saves, do gens is boring

  • SOULWARRIOR71K

No one “forgets” to switch to a flashlight and does so at the 6 second mark of the count down lol. They do it to avoid lightborn. Franklins, or the dc.

  • SOULWARRIOR71K
    SOULWARRIOR71K Member Posts: 462

Okay so we are really going to pretend it’s a coincidence that they always seem to “remember” at the 6 second count down mark? Got it.

  • CodeDB
    CodeDB Member Posts: 295

I don't switch to flashlights but yeah, it can happen. I spend BP while waiting for the lobby. Especially during this event, I'm spending BP on a newly prestiged survivor and then I switch to the person I planned on using as the timer gets close. Others could be filling out a bloodweb until they get the item and then switching to it.

Even with the additional loadouts, its much easier to have a loadout you plan on bringing (with the right offering/item) while messing around with other loadouts for future games before switching back to the one you planned on using.

Not saying people never try to hide information from the killer, but just saying to not try to attribute every action to malice.

Is this on survivor only, or killer too? I thought you have a consistent post history calling out whiny killer mains. Maybe I'm recalling wrong though.

  • FlameGNG
    FlameGNG Member Posts: 746

dear killer why do you run noed? are you scared that you cant get 12 hooks before endgame?...

Listen why do you even care? they think they are cool when they can moonwalk and click their flashlights... What they dont know is that 99.9% og all players doesnt care at all and the reason most people cant moonwalk is because they dont want to learn it. Its not hard to do, they are not cool when they click their flashlights they are not toxic either... Let them do theirs both sides can be dicks if they want too. I mean i play both killer and survivor i'd rather have a 4 swf with flashlights than a noed killer.

At the end of the day they still have to be somewhat decent at the game, if they click their flashlight and you down them 2 sec after i mean thats embarrassing + why do you assume that they will click and tbag you? I quick switch my items (medkits everything) so the killer doesnt run franklins...

There are worse things than flashlights there are crutch perks like unrelenting, noed, dead hard(kinda), DS(kinda)... While calling them crutch perks might be a little to much they are still perks that lets you almost nullify mistakes... I mean i've had games where i lopo for 5 gens and the killer runs noed and i end up dying just because of that... In a worst case scenario just IGNORE THEM!!! When i see a survivor that tries to get looped and clicks i ignore them. Its fun because they keep following me so i can chase 1 survivor while he is trying to get me to chase him so the match is basically a 1v3 because of him trying to show off and be "cool" or whatever :)

  • Marigoria
    Marigoria Member Posts: 6,090

I call out everyone who I think has questionable behavior.

I dont have a problem against killers/survivors in specific.

I will dodge survivor lobbies too for other reasons even as survivor, but last second switches only dodge on killer.

  • GoshJosh
    GoshJosh Member Posts: 4,992

Why are last second switches not acceptable? Survivors shouldn't be able to have an actual chance to use items they paid for, and want to utilize? It's real scummy that four other people have had their time wasted queuing for a match, to now have to wait back in queue for X number of minutes. BHVR should really take notice and be consistent with the DC penalty in these situations, if they're going to have a DC penalty at all.

  • Marigoria
    Marigoria Member Posts: 6,090

The killer is able to see the lobby for a reason, so the killer should be able to equip lightborn/franklins if they see flashlights.

  • GoshJosh
    GoshJosh Member Posts: 4,992

They completely did away with it in DbD mobile. Neither side can change anything after queueing. Guess it's not that critical to standard DbD gameplay.
