If ranks are not publicly displayed, why are they in the game? So you feel appreciated that you reached something no one else can see or marvel at?

They used to be displayed, but people kept thinking of them as ranks (ie: used for matchmaking) and would complain about mmr being broken when they would get iri ranks in their lobby when they were only bronze.
