So, there is a lot to discuss with this new perk update...
Now I'm not here to talk about meta, I'm here to talk about the weaker perks and give my own personal opinions. If you disagree, great! But this is what I have to say.
First of all, I love the new changes to unhooking:
Moving forward, Survivors will receive a 5 second Endurance effect after being unhooked.
Additionally, the unhooked Survivor will receive a 7% Haste effect for 5 seconds.
Both effects will be cancelled prematurely if the unhooked Survivor performs what we now call a Conspicuous Action.
And there are also the changes to Borrowed Time:
Borrowed Time will now ... increase the movement speed bonus duration by 10 seconds for any Survivor you unhook.
These are good changes and will make tunneling less effective. However, if you're like me, then you noticed something immediately, concerning Guardian.
Guardian
When you unhook a Survivor, the rescued Survivor benefits from the following effects for 4/6/8 seconds:
- Scratch Marks and Pools of Blood are suppressed
- 7% Haste Status Effect
Guardian reveals the Killer's Aura to you for 8 seconds
As you can see, there was already a perk that granted a 7% Haste effect after an unhook, meaning with this new unhook effect and the Borrowed Time rework, Guardian is still a far worse option than Borrowed Time, as it only has 2 effects that Borrowed Time doesn't have. On top of that, I should mention that the new buffs to No One Left Behind also conflict with Guardian:
Beyond its current effects, No One Left Behind will grant a 7% movement speed bonus to any Survivors you unhook.
This is a bit of an oversight and will need addressing.
Looking at the changes to We're Gonna Live Forever, I can't help but feel this change is much more fitting for Buckle Up, rather than what we have.
Additionally, actions that previously granted a token will now activate the perk's secondary effect. While active, healing a Survivor from the dying state grants them the Endurance effect for 6/8/10 seconds.
Here is Buckle Up
You can determine the Recovery progress of dying Survivors by the intensity of their Aura at a distance of 48 metres away.
When healing another Survivor from the Dying State to the Injured State, the Killer's Aura is reveal to you both for 6/8/10 seconds.
So in my opinion, this effect should have been given to Buckle Up instead. Although I am unsure how the tokens would be transferred.
Moving on, we're talking about No Mither, which wasn't touched, but is now at the same level as Tenacity and Iron Will.
Iron Will - To address its high usage rates, we are lowering the grunts of pain reduction to 25/50/75%.
Tenacity - In addition to the current effects, Tenacity now reduces your grunts of pain by 75% when in the dying state.
No Mither - When injured or dying, Grunts of Pain are reduced by 25/50/75%.
And I am wondering if that should be addressed.
Next I want to mention Barbecue and Chili.
We believe this is a necessary step in making other aura reading perks more appealing, as Bloodpoint gain will no longer be the deciding factor.
I feel that, even though the buff should go to Buckle Up, the fact that they removed the extra BP on both, but then buffed We're Gonna Live Forever is a bit one-sided. At the very least reduce the range of the aura reading from 40 to 32, which I think it would be a minor change that goes a long way, either that, or find a way to utilize the token system.
I'm sure everyone has already mentioned Coulrophobia already, but now it's my turn.
To make healing in the Killer’s terror radius even more unappealing, Coulrophobia will now increase the speed of skill checks by 50% on top of its current effect.
You took a weak perk that got no use, and you made it only very slightly better. You increased the speed of skill checks, which is kind of powerful, but nobody heals in the terror radius anyway. Instead, I would recommend making the effects linger after they are no longer in the terror radius. But that is just my suggestion.
We're nearly done here, so I'm going to mention Calm Spirit
In addition to Calm Spirit’s current effects, you can now open chests and cleanse and bless totems silently, albeit at 40/35/30% reduced speed.
I feel that the reduced speed is much more than it needs to be, 25% seems more reasonable to me.
And finally, I'm going to bring up Lightweight, which seems to only have a minor error and not anything intentional.
Your scratch marks will also fade 5/4/3 seconds sooner, up from 1/2/3.
I think the intention here was 3/4/5 seconds, not 5/4/3 seconds. If that is the case, then this is a fantastic change overall.
I hope you can look at my feedback and take something from it. I made sure to put in Bold the names of the perks I was discussing. There are a lot of amazing changes in this update, but as always, not every change is equal. I hope this can help Behaviour refine some of their changes.
