I'm done playing with new Killers until I can practice with bots
Apologies as I know I've said this before, but I decided to give the Dredge another go, and in my second only match with him I secured just four hooks and 0 kills. All I'm trying to do is practice, and this is the second match in a row where I've gone against survivors with full on gen rushing builds. Everyone brought cakes too, and despite that the match lasted only minutes. Seriously, nightfall only happened one time because that's how fast the match went! I secured the least amount of blood points out of everyone too.
Simply put, this isn't fun, and until BHVR incorporates their own practice mode I'm done trying new killers. I'm a casual gamer at best, so my heart goes out to any new players because they sure as hell don't have it easy. Being thrown into the deep end when you don't know how to swim makes for a horrible learning tool.

The end is in sight! They've set a tentative date for this feature for the end of 2022

It does suck when the beginning and mid games are instantly skipped over by 4swf but i would recommend creating a build around camping late game honestly. still can be fun and youll get some practice in either way
maybe like no way out, starstruck, no one escapes death lmao

It really does feel bad to leave your comfort zone only to get dumped on by a tryhard squad

Oh man it can't come soon enough! It's a bummer too because at least one or two more Killers will be incorporated before bots finally see the light of day. But again I'm perfectly comfortable waiting because being steamrolled over and over isn't fun.

It's better than 2 months ago, tbh, when the most we knew about bots being implemented was "It would be a lot of effort to code them properly for each killer, so don't expect anything about it anytime soon" at least

Right?! In the last Q&A they literally said it was practically off the table, and now they've done a complete 180. No doubt thanks to games like Evil Dead and the upcoming asymmetrical Ghostbusters game which all incorporate their own bot modes, forced bhvr's hand.
Competition is healthy for all games, and it's good to see that DBD is finally getting some decent competition.

It really does. There are so many killers that I haven't played with that I would love to try. More often than not though you're going up against squads that either want to end the match as quickly as possible, or worse be as toxic as possible. Like I would love to play Sadako, but after my experiences with the Dredge, I'll gladly avoid getting steam rolled over and over again.

survs are going regret asking for bots once newer killers can get all that practice in.

I want the bots to have a learning AI implemented. It watches live matches and learns how human players go about the game.
Then we'd have bots face camping, tunneling, flashlight spamming, gen rushing, and post-game lobby trash talk. Perfection.
2 -
AI would most certainly tunnel/camp.
Without a doubt it would see tunneling a person as optimal.

Thats the thing. When I tried Spirit for a while I couldnt make her power to work, would get constant outplayed in a big way and in the pgc it was constant "gg ez", "lul so easy" and what not.
Really, I don't even want the bots to react to my power, just to run away in the smallish tutorial arena and being incompetent while I can try out the power.

100%. Its the most logical thing to do to secure a win

Watch high level killer streamers. You will see the limitations of any killer they play when they go against a high MMR team.
You will see people juke Nurses/Blights and everything beneath the best two killers.

You've only played 2 games with Dredge, that's nothing, you should expect to lose badly the first few games.

Funny enough that's all I want too. In the first two games as the dredge all I wanted to do was to get an idea of how to use his power, but survivors would end the match within minutes, plus they would incorporate the hold w meta thus defeating his anti looping potential. After getting absolutely crushed in those first two matches, I really have no desire to go back until I can practice properly.

I don't see how playing vs bots would teach you how to play Dredge,
he's a M1 killer with the ability to teleport to lockers,
what would you get from bots? you will destroy them, than jump into a game vs real players and get "genrushed" again...
what's the point of playing against bots if you wanna be good against good players?

Its a pure mechanical thing, like when you buy a new tool, you sit down at your desk, switch on your lamp and just examine it from all sides and get a feel for it before you take it to the workshop to do some work. Its not something fancy, but with a new killer it would be nice to have a setting were you can just USE the power and see how it works without anyone interfering or poping gens in the background or whatever.
Its not supposed to be a main mode or anything, just a smol map, two survivors running around and done. Yes, you can do this on any match that you throw, but it still a somewhat stressful situation. And yes, you could always ask a friend to do a private lobby, but thats still another person to rely on and some people would just love to try and figure things out in utter peace.
EDIT: and the thing is that we already have this technology! There IS a tutorial with bots running around in a convined space and even a bigger one with them doing gens incompetently. The bots are designed to react to Trapper and his power and this has always been stated as the reason why this isnt a thing yet, because the bot cant react to the power. But maybe they dont have to? Let us just be in this toolbox of a map and try the power a few times to get a feel for it and then go into out first match a bit more confident.

For like the first 5 Dredge matches, I kept teleporting to a locker across map while trying to figure out remnant mid chase LOL

Yeah, I can relate :D I would be in hot pursuit and suddenly zoom of to the far corners of the map, never to be seen by that survivor again ^^

I'm not sure the guy wasn't struggling with the power usage, and as far as learning new killers, there's this thing called Deja Vu mixed with experience,
for example Trickster is just a Huntress that throws faster and needs multiple hits to injure.

And using a power effectively will only come with time. But whats the harm of playing the tutorial with other killers then Trapper? What does it matter if the KI bugs out and doesn't know how to handle anything? You could still use your new killer in a stressfree environment and don't be an utter fool in your first match, just a very big fool.
4 -
Perhaps, but as far as I am aware, most players are fine with picking up killers, so devs have no reason to really implement this..
0 -
Well, there is no other option than that, so its a moot point. But I would recon that if you could play the tutorial with every killer, a good chunk of newer ones would try them out there. Like I said, it doesn't have to be a big deal, nearly all the pieces are already there, the thing is underutilized. Why not just go for it?

Honestly, right now is a particularly bad time to try new killers. It's the Anniversary Event and bloodies are being handed left and right with Flans. Like, just wait until after the event and everyone'll quit acting up. XD I finally got my Twins prestiged in this event, but I can't really play them cuz everyone's playing so hard.

yeah i don't think that feature will help you as much as you think, the best thing playing against bots could do is realize how a killer power works (but not how to use it effectively) or if you wanna test smth real quick and don't wanna wait for someone to queue with you in custom but other than that it ain't gonna help you get better cuz bots will be dumb 100% lol.

You learn best by failure, real players will be far more cunning than braindead bots (most of the time)
0 -
Make no mistake, I'm not expecting bots to properly reflect how a real live match will play out, but when you're new to the game or new to a killer, trying to get a feel for things when you're going up against a tryhard swf makes learning the ropes incredibly difficult.
There's a reason why practice modes exist in so many multiplayer games, and it's good to see that BHVR has changed their mind on implementing such a mode.
