New Dead Hard gameplay video from today's VOD
It's not worth using anymore lol.

I think i can hear the loud yells of jubilation from killer players the world over right now
In all seriousness though, the gameplay shown doesn't address the biggest question surrounding the DH change, that being if it can be used and then confirm a pallet drop or window vault, my money is on "no" but i would like to be certain

mission accomplished I guess.
5 -
Yep. Another Survivor Perk in the bin.
6 -
Just waiting for the complaints about OTR to continue

I mean it doesn't seem useless imo but the point was to get people to stop using so it'll work pretty well in that regard
4 -
It should be renamed Dab Hard
26 -
As A killa main. I APPLAUD this decision.
4 -
It seems much fairer, now. There are cases where it's the best exhaustion perk, and many more cases where other exhaustion perks are the right one for the moment. I'm really keen to figure out how it interacts with other sources of endurance per the typical deep wounds restrictions.
2 -
Nah, this is useless.
The point of Nerfs is to nerf Perks, but they should stay playable. But BHVRs design decision for this Midchapter was to nerf Perks to remove them from the Loadouts.

I think I'm gonna use it more now so that I can teach Ash how to superman that hoe. I'm really hoping they add the Dougie next 😂

Haven’t heard an outcry this loud since the original Hex: Ruin rework. Don’t worry survivors, within a week or two the influencers will ease you into the ‘it’s not bad’ mindset and over an extended period of months we can just say that it’s ‘actually better now’.
If you didn’t get the sarcasm, I’m saying I miss original Ruin but I moved on with my DbD life and have accepted Hex: Pentimento as my new Shepard, praise the slowdown Hexes!

So Dead Hard is no longer Hard, but just Dead?
Great!

I don't know what I expected, but dang.

I'm fine with this change.
I'm pretty sure they said it can't be used while vaulting or dropping a pallet.

It is a shadow of its former self (which is deserved )but still useful. Nurse blinks on you deadhard and let her go to fatigue, huntress hatchet coming your way deadhard is still gonna work against it, almost maxed knives vs a trickster once again a deadhard, pyramid red line showed up deadhard, arist about to launch her crow deadhard. I think you are starting to see my point. Against killers where its predictable when you will take the damage state I would argue its even stronger since you get the on hit speed boost. Versus M1s it is much much weaker but against powers as long as you are good with the timing as most of them either have a limited time to hit you(blight, nurse), can't be canceled(billy, huntress, trickster, twins) or have some kind of warning beforehand(artist, PH, twins, demo). Personally I think survivors who can use it well and time it well will get a lot of use out of it.

Wow, that's terrible. Dead Hard RIP. Throw it in the dust bin of history with no mither and spine chill.

I swear if I finally pull off the perfect cross map billy chainsaw and it connects just for a survivor to dead hard and not go down I'm gonna DC and uninstall instantly 😂
1 -
hahaha its gonna happen you'll be like 5 meters away too close to change directions and the start of the animations gonna play xD
0 -
It's still a completely free third healthstate you get any time you want it, all you gotta do is time it differently now.
I do not think this Perk is going to be drastically weaker than the version we have now - maybe a bit more difficult to use, but still very strong.
1 -
I know it is, and I'm gonna cry lol
0 -
Haha, excellent.
But seriously, this will still be quite usable in the hands of players with the skill to utilize it, which is exactly as it always should have been.

Folks are sleeping hard on the amount of baggage a mandatory 12 second mending carries with it for every successful Dead Hard activation. There's gonna be a ton of folks who run off, start to mend, and then get caught out half-mended and exhausted by the killer finding them again (especially with the upcoming iron will changes)

*spits on grave*

I still can't tell how good the new dead hard is. Are survivors able to vault or drop pallets while using dead hard? and how long do they have to wait before being able to do any action after using dead hard in the case that they can't do any action after using dead hard?
1 -
It still looks like a 0 frame startup. Can survivors still use it on reaction to a killer lunge? Will it still be impossible to bait dead hard on those survivors?
0 -
What do you think should be the price of a 3rd health state then? DH needed to have a cost to it, it being a nearly 100% free health state or chase reset is the exact reason DH why is used by 75% of Survivors. The ONLY reason Survivors don't run DH is that they didn't have it unlocked yet or some very rare personal choice.
DH needed to have a cost. If having to mend is too much for you, then what would you do instead?

You misinterpret my stance - I think it's a good change.

From the short clip i'm assuming you can still time a full charge killer swing so not much has changed in terms of DH being used to dodge a hit, which is BHVR's intention. The real change is in fact DH for distance being gone which will probably eliminate 1 rotation around every loop, that is a very welcomed change. Map are already big enough for killers, except Nurse, can't we killswitch her again!?, so that 1 less rotation will do wonders in terms of time for killers. Now let's seriously killswitch Nurse and adress the maps and rebalance perks so that Perks can be good without worrying how strong they'd be on Nurse.

We'll have to see for ourselves whether it'll be useless, my money is on no, but even if yes, that's just ... Objectively a good thing dude. It's been 5 years of everyone playing with 3 health states for which, obviously, the game is not balanced. Personally I think it's dumb they're keeping the whole waiting for dead hard thing and I was really hoping they'd just scratch the perk's original idea and rework it completely (5 years was enough to see that it just isn't healthy for the game) but ANY change in this case is good change.

Dudes what are you talking about ? New Dead Hard is broken. I can already think of the standoffs you can do just standing on a window.
Faking a window or a pallet will give you a bigger speed if used properly.Survivors can body block killers on door and take a hit.
Pretend to get stuck. Like so many mindgames you can do with that and get a longer distance afterwards.
I honestly like it.

You're assuming everyone has a god tier react time to killer swings ? with all the latency inconveniences most survivors will miss it and get hit instead. What made distance dead hard more popular is that you can use it to reach safety rather than to predict hits which is way harder.

Are we being a drama queen much?
You keep calling anything that's not meta "useless" and I firmly believe the main problem here is not the perks being useless, but you and other survivors with the same complaint lacking imagination. As far as I'm concerned, the amount of objectively useless perks can be counted on one hand per side, not more. And none of the reworked perks fall into that category.
Nearly every perk has some use and can come in clutch in various other ways than blocking a killer's hit or gaining enough distance to go for a pallet or window. Just because something might be niche or you just don't like using it, doesn't make it useless. I don't have a single survivor with a full meta build, never did. Each of my survivors has a set of perks I picked at random based on their lore or personality. No two of my survivors are the same and hence I don't play them the same either. I enjoy all my survivors, because I don't let meta restrict myself to a specific, usually boring and unimaginative build. I suggest everyone else, including you, try the same and open up their minds to all the possibilities there are with the over 200 perks we have.
But seriously, stop with the drama, it's unwarranted. They didn't gut anything, they made it work like it was originally intended again. The original Dead Hard was meant to work exactly one way: dodge a hit. It was never meant to be used to gain distance, that only became its main use when dedicated servers started making the perk work unreliably at best when it came to the invincibility frames.

IMO for Survivor, only second-chances or Perks which speed up the Objective (Main and Side like healing) are worth running.
And sorry, but the goal for Perk Nerfs should be that players think if they still want to use the Perk OR go for another option. And not "The Perk is dead". This happened too much on both sides with the upcoming Update. Like, Killers should consider if they want to ruin Ruin OR Overcharged with the next Patch. But this is not a question with how bad the Devs made Ruin.
Same goes for Survivor.
And for DH - personally, it does not affect me. I dont run it as Survivor. I will have less DHs as Killer, and this is whatever.

Well yes it takes time and practice to get good in any game.On DBD it's the same,it takes time to become a good huntress and it take time to become better at looping or using any kind of perk at it's best potential. Is not about god tier.Is about learning the game the way you want to play it.If dead hard doesn't fit you, you can try perfecting sprint burst or any exhaustion perk.

That nerfed speed boost makes me really worried
0 -
Preach. There's so many perks that give useful info, a nice unique ability, or will win the game for you completely -although only in specific situations, not in every single match- Which is the level perks should ideally be at. But a lot of players on each side demand nothing less than a full set of perks which largely play the game for them.
2 -
My favorite thing as killer is it looks like I get blood points for a dh hit, as well as counting as a hit for challenges
0 -
wait but it looks good? The smaller dash is pathetic obviously but the endurance it gives is actually OP in my opinion, you get hit and get a speed boost, you just have to time it properly which is not even that hard if you are a DH user
1 -
While you in animation from new DH, you obviously can't use windows or pallers, with that being said... You're probably go down, coz there is no "DH for distance". It's a HUGE nerf. As others said, probably is a "bin" situation. xD
It's good tho, now survivors will have at least some variations with 1 slot of other perks to use. -_-
1 -
I do think that people will still use it. Killer knows you can't reach that window,if you succesfully DH you get a speed boost which will safely move you on another, safer, loop.

The game is becoming less and less interesting to me. these constantly serious changes to the perks to the detriment of the surv and to the advantage of the killer are just annoying. Generators then have to be repaired longer, self-care takes even longer, the strike is changed again, and and and. Imagine you take your car to the shop for an upgrade and you get it back worse than before, with less power and only three tires instead of four. but guys, as long as you're still playing the game... you have to boycott the game, don't buy anything from the store anymore.

The animation looks pretty ridiculous xD.
Killers may miss just because they are laughing.
In about five hours, we'll see.
0 -
Ok. Killer hits, Overcome activates, then Lithe after vaulting a window and after that, DH. Survivors: "SEE YA, BABY KILLER!"
0 -
And the point of exhaustion perks is that they're all meant to compete for one slot in the survivors' build, and having one that was outrageously better than all the others broke that whole system. Maybe now we'll see some variation.

See? There are this people that consider only the very upper crust worth of running, and for them everything else is "worthless junk belonging to the trash bin".
The other school of thought considers the survivor game very skill based, ie an experienced and skillfull survivor can loop nearly every killer perkless by running their loops perfectly and greeding pallets just enough to make the whole thing not worth for the killer. In this scenario perks become more like flavors of what you wanna play today.
There are much more viable builds, especially fun ones, as survivor beside your usual "pick any four: BT, DH, DS, IW, CoH, Proof, other exhaustion perk", but if all you care about it "running the build thats mathematically the most effective/efficient", then yes, the new DH, while having a niche in which it perferms its thing, wont be your cup of tea anymore and belongs to your personal trash bin of non-meta-perks. I for one might try DH out now that I don't have to feel cheap and shameless anymore.

These are the people that see a new and interesting survivor perk come out that opens up new builds and interesting ways of playing and go "it's not a free health state, it's garbage!"
