Who should be the power role?
Killers or survivors?
Comments

Thematically, killer seems like the obvious choice.

Obviously killer it's 1v4.

From a casual pov, killers
1 -
Survivor

Killer should be, and killer is.
The killer cannot be removed from the match early, cannot be meaningfully taken out of the action during the match, and can only be run from + briefly stunned. I don't know if "power role" is a real term with a concrete definition, but from my view, it would be a gigantic missed opportunity for actually interesting game analysis to just have it mean "whichever side is stronger".

What the hell is a power role.

This is actually the best answer.

I could describe it, but I might get banned
But seriously, I would define it is the person/group who has the most power to dictate the flow of a game. Or who is the "act" in the act/react relationship.

Neither
Both sides should have an equal chance
1 -
Not really it's 4v1 not 4v4.
4 -
Isn't it just the party in asymmetrical game that should have a distinct advantage in the 1vs1 while the other party has teammates to gain the advantage in the "many vs 1"?

It's quite sad game is all about winning/losing rather than a horror game with lot of random aspect.

Something that Sadako will never be.
3 -
Ok??? Both sides should still have an equal chance at winning. Of course the scale will always tip towards one side more than the other, but the goal should always be to make that scale as even as possible
1 -
Obviously killer just is a 4v1
0 -
Whoever is better at the game.
2 -
Killers should be stronger in the 1 v 1. Working as a team survivors should be strong. How strong? Strong enough to all escape.

Care to use some lotion for that burn you just applied? lmao.

I think it's different types of "power". The killer should be the aggressor/offensive role, and if playing optimally, dictate the flow of the match. It's just more in the spirit of horror, imo.
But by responding/reacting to the killer's tactics smartly, the surv team can use that aggression/power against them and win. But if the survs try to assert themselves aggressively, and skill is equal, they should come out on the wrong end of that.
And I think that is actually the way things do work currently, but the key variable that can turn everything on its ear here is the matchmaking (edit: and maps).
At the end of the day, it's all about how you perceive what power is, though.

That tends to be the goal of a video game, yes.
1 -
Whichever side is performing better at their role relative to their opponent in that trial
2 -
Sides but not individual players hence why in a 1vs1 (4vs4, in the quoted comment) the killer should have the advantage (in DBD handled by the always loved bloodlust /s -.-).
A survivor being able to run a killer for a whole trial or the majority of it is unbalanced and most probably a case of bad matchmaking, a staple of bhvr.

Playing at their absolute best- a survivor team. Casually playing- killers.
Ideally, it would be whoever is better, but this game isn't designed that way.

Wow, rude

Maurice and the Snitch Crows 😤 (kidding)
The killer.

Obviously none. Its a vs game, so both sides need to be equal in terms of power. "Powerrole" is just a sad attempt to ask for buffs and nerfs of one side only.
