So I was browsing the DBD Twitch Channels...Are people really like this?
Joined a very popular one that was happening...
I noticed the colors were off and asked why the colors were lighter (was going to follow up by asking if it was a filter or if that is how low looks - I was interested)...Literal text was "Why are the colors so faded/so light?"
First interaction ever there and....INSTA-BANNED
Is this taboo or something?
Had to repost because I missed a spot where the name was - apologies to anyone confused!

I do notice a lot of pc streamers with lighting like that
14 -
I was kind of expecting something like "the lighting on most maps sucks (like that room in Garden of Joy)" or "it's nVidia filter XYZ," etc.
Didn't know it was an extreme offense - Makes me wonder what's going on with it, now, tbh.
5 -
I have no idea.
I see a lot of people using filters because the game offers basically zero options.
Sure would like to have those on console...
26 -
Was the face cam brighter or you mean the game itself
0 -
My favorites are where they've got the red stain so bright it burns the retina out of my eye and it goes through walls
11 -
Cheaters.
13 -
Because on some maps as a killer you can't see anything unless you change your ingame graphics or have a filter.
5 -
It's something streamers get tired of addressing. And a lot of viewers start off with that line and then escalate it into a debate about how filters are cheating. Not saying that's what you were doing, but it happens often. A lot of viewers seem to go out of their way to find streamers that aren't playing the way they like and then do everything they can to kill the vibe of their stream. Hence why that streamer may have instabanned for the question.
11 -
I've reposted the image - It was taken down because a small line of text was missed, which is entirely my bad.
Sorry for the confusion!

Maybe it will be in future accessibility options or something....you could always adjust your TV, but it's probably not good to blast the brightness....either for the TV or your eyes.
0 -
Maybe they thought you were accusing them of cheating? A ban right off the bat might be an overreaction, though...
2 -
This is what I was wondering...
If it's a taboo topic, I'd know not to ask it in another stream/rack up continuous bans.
0 -
I don't think it's cheating, but I don't think it's in the spirit of the game, it does confer some advantage, and looks like crap. I like the dark atmosphere, personally.
But I often find that people get weirdly defensive about stuff like this when they feel like they are gaining an unfair advantage.
And probably they (or their mods) just silence the discussion as soon as it starts, to avoid even acknowledging it.
8 -
Depends on the streamer. It's best to check their rules and info section first. Wouldn't worry about it too much though. They could have been having a bad day with an argumentative chat. It happens.
1 -
No more stretched res but wallhacks still exists? interesting.
1 -
I dont see how minor filters like making a game slightly brighter or vibrant is cheating...
4 -
Its a reshader. Since the game has very few accessibility options by default, they use third party mods, reshaders, filters and what have u to do that.
some people with sensory sensibilities use an effect to mute dredge whenever he activates nightfall. Because of the voices in the background. Its nothing really impactful in the gameplay, so idk why the streamer was touchy about it.
3 -
It's more than likely a reshader. Though I do have to say, their game looks ugly with the filters they're using.
0 -
People use reshaders also to gain a advantage over the killer. The brighter shader like ops post would allow them to see things that are ment to be harder to spot ie Hag Traps or Trappers darkened traps
With how the streamer reacted I say cheating was the issue
5 -
because this community will literally find anything that would give them the slightest advantage
just can't play normal
6 -
How in the world can anyone play with these kind of graphic settings? It seems like this would be hard on the eyes after awhile but then again people have their own personal preferences with stuff like this. I'd actually prefer to turn brightness down to make the maps darker but I've never really messed with those settings. I just keep my graphics quality on the highest option and brightness on whatever the gaming mode my monitor has puts it at.

I Agree, I mean, if the game devs dont provide options to dim the effects of such conditions, we have to look elsewhere. It’s unfortunate but true. I have poor eyesight (astigmatism to be precise) adn I play mostly on console, so some maps and some killers kind throw me off (specially dredge) And theres nothing I can do. I know the feel my bro

Even still its not a massive advantage by any means, Its not game breaking like full on cheat codes. It doesn’t help in chases or anything. And trust me a reshader is not gonna be the reason the trapper will not get a 4k.
besides, as long as the devs don’t aknowledge people with disabilities and bring accessibility features to the game, decent ones, reshaders are fair game.

I asked a streamer what they didn't like about my name and got instantly banned.
Damn Vtubers.

I was blessed with deuteranopia, astigmatism, and a broken monitor all in one ✨

I post one video on the dbd subreddit where my gamma is high with NVIDIA filters and 70% or more of the comments are people complaining about it. Then it gets derailed into me trying to explain that 1) it is allowed and 2) why I use it etc etc etc. I have to explain how it probably looks higher brightness for them because my actual monitor brightness is low or I used high gamma because I didn't want to close the blinds and blah blah blah, it's awful. They still don't listen/understand and keep derailing the post. It's annoying!
I think people are just tired of having to explain themselves for using something that console players can't. Which I understand can be frustrating - but I will use it, it's allowed, it's convenient.
As for OP, I do think the streamer overreacted, or perhaps a rogue mod did. They should have instead just @ed you with a pre-written command that briefly explains the filters (if that question is asked a lot).
1 -
I started using the NVIDIA filter because on some maps I litteraly couldn't see the inside of rooms (for rpd as an example).
the game is now too dark for what it became honestly, before it was about hide and seek, now it's about chasing, so maps should change as such (at least for the brightness, hiding spots like the grass in dead dawg saloon are still useful)
I don't care if I miss someone because I was careless, but if I can't see someone because i'm litteraly unable to, it gets boring pretty fast

usually killer mains are the ones with the brightest settings not the survivor main.
i wish BHVR banned Shaders etc.
its ruining the aesthetic of the game
6 -
It's logic that it's more a killer thing than a survivor thing, I mean as a survivor you can't miss the killer and you're not the one who have to seek

If you want to see what people are truly like, work retail or in the food service industry.
7 -
And that's why I'm constantly negative, the scars from that run deep and I left that job years ago for a cool job.
4 -
I don't really care what people do with their games/screens/etc barring cheating.
I was just curious as to whether there was some unwritten rule I had broken or whatever.
I dipped back into their channel after, and it was apparently to help viewers see things during Nightfall, but they're opting to keep it on permanently due to its usefulness.

We’d like to see a lot on console
1 -
I want this on console.
1 -
Even if you banned shaders modern gaming monitors have internal settings that give the same visual results.
Console players can benefit from those advantages as well assuming they can afford one. I like the AORUS FV43U.

I play on console so I can't use filters on my TV, but I stream using a capture card, and I can tell you that on the darker maps I activate an OBS filter to make it easier to see for viewers (e.g. on autohaven wrackers).
I don't know what other streamers do, if they activate filters for themselves or just for the stream, but the latter should honestly be good practice for the viewers pleasure.

Most TVs allow some level of settings adjustment. The better option is using a PC monitor as they usually have more settings. But it is doable.
0 -
Some have adjustable x-hairs, too - Monitors have a lot of neat features depending on brand, etc.
0 -
They were just Salty about getting attention drawn to the advantage it provides.
1 -
Imagine playing games with brightness settings in 2022

I love all the people being like 'oh yeah, it's about accessibility options not being in the game!'
No, it's sweaty people making the game look ######### awful to get every competitive advantage they can squeeze out.
3 -
I personally consider filters cheating. The game is dark for a reason.
4 -
I dont consider tweaking the light a little bit something very offensive but extreme filters like the one in the OP post are usually used to have better view of Survivors and/or the Killer, that stuff makes stealth impossible, a lot of people (myself included) compare them to cheating and from time to time streamers get called cheaters on chat for using them so they ban people instead of arguing or discussing why they are using them.

or using discord with friends right? or just a little bit of boost speed or ... however "nightfall" is too dark please nerf.
0 -
Way what you want but I personally think the screenshot OP provided actually looks pretty good. Me personally I don't like my game looking like a shade of gray is over every color.
1 -
I put in an unban request when it happened and it has since been approved.
Just wanted to provide follow-up to DBD-Blogs.
2 -
Yea it's cheating in my book, when you have to download a 3rd party program and change the way the game looks for an extra advantage it speaks for itself, that guys settings are set that way so the red stain will stand out more and be visible through the bottom of the walls I've seen it before, you take all the skill out of it with this type of thing, you can't mindgame someone who always knows where you are on the other side
1 -
People dont like you pointing out they're using external devices for advantages.
Some claim it's not but it's the way it is and people dont like the idea you dont view them as some type of god.
Too many streamers put themselves as better than others yet they cant be honest with their audience. It's a huge reason I cant watch them, people bully others, have huge egos or mislead people to believing certain things...

U do realize people with disabilities exist right?
0 -
That's a console problem, not a DBD problem. DBD PC doesn't really have filter options either we use 3rd party software to do it like Nvidia
