The grind is not what's keeping your player base. I can 100% guarantee it. Idk why y'all are so afraid of actually reducing it in a meaningful way.
I've played this game for years and have never seen a person leave because they unlocked everything. They're not in it because it gives them something to grind. I've seen people say they're okay with the grind, usually people who already have everything, but nobody has ever been like, "Welp, unlocked everything. Guess it's time I play something else till the next dlc." This isn't a MMO lol.
I have however seen people leave because of the grind. I've seen new and veteran players leave because of it, and I've seen potential players who might love the gameplay refuse to ever play it because of how big of a grind there is. And this new prestige mechanic doesn't fix that.
What's worse, is you "reduce" the grind, and then immediately increase it again by reducing consistent bonus BP gains and adding an unnecessary mandatory "prestige tax" on every prestige level.
It's like y'all are absolutely terrified that people will stop playing the game if they unlock everything too quickly. It'll never happen. If anything it'll actually keep and attract new players even more.
Not to mention if more people have access to the same perks at the same strength it gives you a more consistent pool of data as there's less variation. Because the difference between strength of for example, current ruin at tier 1 and current ruin at tier 3 is massively different. It would only help at that point to have more players on the same level.
I'm not saying remove the grind completely, as having a little grind is fine, but it's not what's keeping your community playing the game. And actually reducing it a lot would have almost no negative impacts, but would definitely make positive ones.

This is correct in my experience. The main reason I come back to this game is it's gameplay formula.

I find the grind makes me want to play less because I cannot play the way I want if it takes too long to get the perks and add-ons I need. It's a frustrating feeling. I'm feeling the grind all over again after switching to pc as well. And knowing the new prestige work wont make the grind any less is not very appealing.

I agree. One of the best aspects of this game is being able to theory craft different builds and try them out, or to create a build that suits your playstyle. But having that aspect blocked for a lot of new and potential players because you think it'll keep current players is bad game design and management
