I Personally Believe the Nurse Could Use Nerfs.

I don’t like to throw around the nerf word cause not everything that’s ANNOYING needs nerfs, BUT the Nurse is just game breaking in my honest opinion. I’ve been playing this game since console launch, and no killer has just been so busted like the Nurse (though a few cut it close). You can make no distance, absolutely NOTHING is safe (pallets, vaults, etc.). Her “counters” aren’t really much tbh cause breaking line of sight don’t do much for a great nurse. And as of July 5th, 2022, with these upcoming changes coming to dbd, i’m scared they’ve made Nurse even stronger.

I don't play her either (I really don't play killer much except for rift challenges if it has a cosmetic I want). I've mentioned before that her fatigue causes me migraines and need to go lay down for a bit. And yes, I also agree that there isn't a way to nerf SWF in any meaningful way. So, for all the killers who get fed up with dealing with them, Nurse should stay.

The only thing I could think of is the devs just giving Solo all the information swf get and just balancing around that, but seeing how they nerfed moris and took forever with nerfing keys, I don't trust them to be fair about it at all.

"Every time I have escaped against a good nurse it was because the nurse wasn't very good"

I love this lie that nurse isn't good against stealth. A nurse that wastes any time looking for stealthed survivors isn't very good at all. Good nurse players know the how big their terror radius is, and blink to the gen without giving the survivor working on it any time to get away.

If you are playing this way and winning, it is because the nurse wasn't nearly as good as you think.

    You can't be serious.

I used to think Nurse was too powerful but the more I played against the nurse the more I learned how to counter them. Lately though I have hardly seen the nurse at all. I think in the past month I have only played against 2 or 3 nurses. When I do get the nurse now, they are either very easy to dodge blink attacks or just are spot on with them. There doesn't really seem to be an in-between. I imagine at high mmr nurse players are probably insanely difficult to win against. I wonder if that is where a lot of the complaints about nurse are coming from. For me I can usually tell with the first interaction with the nurse how good they are and from there I adjust my playstyle. Quick and quiet seems to be a good perk to use against the nurse for when you need to jump in a locker fast. I guess for me since I hardly ever see the nurse I don't see this killer as that big of a problem. Maybe if I got this killer several times a day and saw a pattern I'd think different but that just hasn't happened. For me lately its been mostly Legion and playing mending simulator is getting old.

Yes survivors said Spirit was OP because of the standing still mind games. That's why we have a Spirit now where you not only know when she's using her powers but from what direction and how close she is to you. They made her chase music so loud that it drowns out footsteps so you have to lose chose just to find out which way went if they stopped running or went into Shadow Step zone.

People calling for nurse nerfs are the same way as people who called for the spirit Nerf...they failed to learn the counter play or change up their normal tactics to adapt to how Spirit and Nurse are.

As I said in my post I learned the nurse counter plays and how to deal with her by playing her.

Now Nurse's addons need a major look because she's dosnt need both a recharge and distance without some kind of a negative effect

I think that Nurse needs a full ground-up rework, if only because then we can get smaller maps.

I agree, only give us the smaller maps with weaker loops that are 50/50 and not always in favor of the survivor and then they can rework the Nurse, not before.

What..? You seem to be talking about getting a grab off a gen. I am talking about what every decent nurse knows how to do, which is make stealth not viable. It is so easy to get close enough to a gen a survivor is working on to know exactly where they try to escape to. Do you really need to blink exactly on the survivor to know where they have gone? Ah, I see why so many nurses think she isn't OP now, if even the most basic tracking in the game is too difficult.

I'm not suggesting nurses play perfect. I expect consistent good plays at my MMR. A nurse needs far fewer constintently good plays to win the game. It's just a fact.

How can you pretend to be a well know steamer and, I quote, "I am very, very good at playing against Nurse, and playing as her. I can all but guarantee that I am better at both than those defending nurse in this thread." and yet have such limited perception about her plays, what they involve and their counters.

And no, Spirit wasn't OP. She had a very strong rare add-on but what some players were complaining about was they had to guess if she was phasing or not and had to take a bet. I had a lot of fun mind-gaming Spirits.

    "And no, Spirit wasn't OP."

    ...lol

Was Legion at launch balanced and fun, too?

Yesterday I was in a match as Nurse (Franklin, nothing else, no add-ons) on Bood-lodge.

I've found the first two survivors pretty quickly and the first one got downed with a walking attack followed by my first blink in the match. She wasn't doing bad but she simply did that cursed "going back over the corner" survivors always try (but so few do with the right timing).

Her generator teammate, a Jake, stood there, doing virtually nothing and got slugged for his trouble. I guess some people haven't got the drive to try to be better.

The next survivor though played very well and was able to use every tool at her disposal to escape every attack. We started from the lodge, turned anti-clockwise, went up to the bus and back to the lodge before she got downed. She was truly unpredictable (that word others misunderstand as "always run towards the Nurse when she blinks"). I also wanted to make a point for the Jake so he could see what she was doing to last so long.

The fourth survivor wasn't bad either but nowhere as strong as that Kate.

In the end, I've only hooked them once (didn't even try to lift the Jake as he would probably have killed himself on hook) and proceeded to slug them instead before pushing them out. I've chased the Jake only once while he was running for the doors and predictably got him downed without effort : he was running in a straight line.

They were basically playing 3vs1 from the start, killing them wouldn't have been fair.

Almost as if people have opinions and want to express them and best way to show them is through the forums. Tell me, do you judge everybody based on what their first posts are?

The Nurse definitely needs nerfs or even a rework.BHVR don't just look at the stats and think "oh, the average number of kills is this, she's fine". NO she ISN'T. There is nothing you can do against good Nurses. Any juke I try does nothing. Breaking the line of sight does nothing either. Now add do that Starstruck, Infectious Fright and range addons (or 1 range and other blink recharge). She gets a fast, easy 4K.... or decides to slug the whole team for 4 minutes 'cause that gets the player playing her off.

Her being hard to pick up for new players (although that's debatable) should not justify ignoring how good Nurse players are too strong. Recently I managed to pallet stun a Nurse mid-blink, and yet she caught up to me within a few seconds! Because she had a blink recharge addon. And also because you removed the fatigue on stuns. ######### am I supposed to do??

I also know a few streamers who are just fed up with going against Nurses, 'cause it's always the same sh*t. Starstruck, BBQ, Pain Res, Infectious Fright, Deadman's Switch, range and blink recharge addons.

Have you considered you are just not that good at mindgaming/facing Nurses? I don't know why the baseline assumption is you are doing good at it. Because if you actually look at good players facing good Nurses, they do just fine.

  • Alen_Starkly
    Alen_Starkly Member Posts: 1,175

Because I've seen streamers who are REALLY good as survivors, and they still fail against good Nurses. Also, a player playing as survivor should NOT be required to be an insanely good top 1% survivor to be able to handle a really good Nurse. She's broken af, just like Spirit used to be. Spirit rightfully got nerfed, and it's time for OP Nurses to kick the bucket as well. A LOT of people are complaining, sick and tired of Nurses, BHVR will have to do something, it's inevitable.

Nurse flat up needs to be reworked. OP crap killer that ignores every mechanic in the game

After her rework, nurse was fine, but with the bugged range addons wich became a feature and the change that her partially charged blinks are kept until after the blink, she has become a pain again. Remove that and she's fine.
