Should self care be part of the basic survivor kit?

here is one thing you failed to understand:
you - as a survivor - are not ment to be healed all the time.
the pure existance of SC is a problem by itself for many reasons, but making this perk build into a survivors basekit would be incredibly OP and gamechanging.
i wont take myself all the time it would take to explain this further, but know this: SC is the strongest perk in the game. giving this out for free would be too strong.
you have teammates, medkits and a perkslot, use them and you will be healed.
dont complain, learn.3 -
Here's a tip - selfcare sucks.
Post heal change and when 90% of killers are applying the mangled effect it takes too long to be useful.
People only bring it out of habit.

I tried to think of a way to say this, but all the intelligent reasons have been taken, so i'll let the good doctor cox say it with feeling....

To be honest it’s better to use med kits than self care just because you can heal a lot
faster and with the fight add ons combined you can get 3/4 heals with one med kit0 -
And everyonr else saying self care is a trash perk, This thread isn't about that.
This thread is about how difficult it is for new players coming in to get the things they need.
I'm saying that grinding is bad for new playera because it puts them off playing dbd more.
As for medkits. You might not even find a medkit in a chest. So newbies are forced to find teammates to heal, which is far more difficult than the experience of healing at rank 1.

@Orion You haven't dismissed any of my points on the wendigo thread. You just say I'm wrong because the killer isn't a wendigo.
You cannot say my theory was wrong just because it wasn't used in the game. My theory was sensical and the reason my theory wasn't the right one was because the legion was the killer who too fit the clues.
As for the legion being a clue, it could have meant a legion of wendigos or spirits unleashed from a curse you know something interesting.
I was thinking outside the box hoping for something more creative and people like you label me an idiot who has an obsession with wendigos or whatever.
You are one of the reasons why these discussions are so toxic in that you aren't willing to listen to others ideas and you butt your stubborn opinion there for everyone to see.1 -
I don't get it.
Your reason to make Self Care a normal ability is because, according to you without anything to back it up, new players don't know how to heal, even though there's tutorials and loading screen tips.
If you're concerned about new players not being able to heal, just tell them to check out the tutorials, there's tons of other tips there too.
Heck, if they're not braindead, they'll go: "How do i heal? I should check out tutorials."Also, the more obvious reason: Self Care at base is not what the game needs.

Yeah, it's harder because they are inexperienced.
That's the point of videogames in general: You play more and gain more experience.
A lack of experience isn't a good reason.
And tutorials not being useful is a nice opinion you have.1 -
Self Care is now base for Claudette.
If they don't know how to heal and want to find out, they can just browse different Survivors, to see what everyone can do.
Then they'll get to reading about Claudette and see that she has a heal at base.
And then they'll try her. (Or not, whatever.)Heck, when you first start playing Survivor, you're more than likely gonna check out all Survivors anyway, see who you wanna play as first.
And you'd read about Claudette healing herself.I'm still not convinced you got a good idea here.

I know my idea isn't that good. I wouldn't support it BUT I know changes need to be made to help new player coming into dbd. This self care suggestion is a little drastic but as we speak there are countless (about 30) new players fed up with the brick wall like progression system which newbies face.0

The grind to get the self care teachable so you can unlock it on another survivor you want to play is far too long to do.A lot of new players are like huh what how do I heal.
95% of people run self care. New players who don't have self care and are at low ranks (16-20) must skew the data devs collect for going into matches less equipped than those at high ranks.
I've had friends put this game down because of having to do so much to unlock healing.
This game should do what it can to attract new players and be loyal to it's veteran players.
The only issue people will have is that they won't allow new players to get self care for free when they play any survivor for the first time. Because they had to unlock it when they first played.
Rework the self care perk to do something different than being able to heal.
Give new players a level playing field.DBD would be a better game without SC.
Thats my opinion about this.2 -

There must be way better ways than granting free abilities though.2 -
Lol if you want the perk on other characters than get the teachable. Actually even better, just play Claudette or bring a medkite, it's really not that hard to heal. No need to buff survivors by giving them a free perk might as well give all killers a default NOED or nurses calling.
