The Current P1 To P3 change is a mistake
So everyone basically gets all the perks in the game on every character. I've been working on getting every perk on every character since 2017. I am nearly done and now every player basically gets all the new perks on everyone without a sweat. It was fine before this new change was added to upcoming mid chapter.

This is...a strange take.
Edit: If anything, this should make you frustrated with BHVR for creating such a ridiculous, addictive grind in the first place.

I mean, they also said they're reducing the grind by 75%.
It's actually not 75% in practice, but if it was... would you be complaining about that?
"I've been grinding since 2017 to get all perks on all characters and now newbies can do it in a quarter of the time!"

I've been playing this game actively since 2016 and have every single perk unlocked on all my killers and a large chunk of my survivors and I'm absolutely perfectly fine with people being able to unlock a bunch of perks with this catch up mechanic. It being grindy for me doesn't mean I want it to be hard for other people - there's now a much more grindy optional part which is getting to P100 that people can pursue if they want to, but for gameplay affecting mechanics, I'm glad people are now able to get more perk variety across more of their characters without having to grind for it.

You explain exactly why it is good, current players fed up with the obnoxious grind can trade their addons and offerings and get a huge grind reduction I see nothing wrong with it.
Now if you were an older player or someone who had already p3 almost everything (like me for example) yes the reward that bhvr is giving is meaningless, but a grind reduction was necessary.

Perks are supposed to be about variety in gameplay and playstyles. Currently they are a gatekeeping method that makes metas much harder to deviate from. Hilariously, this change does nothing (and actually reduces) killer addon variety as an element even though they have the exact same purpose, and are consumable to boot.

They still have to level up each character for that to happen. It is just less of pain now getting perks on characters you want to play plus you don’t lose your stuff. Thats a positive change.
the bp tax and forced reset at 50 on the other hand… I do not like that at all.
I still feel its a step in the right direction, just needs some tweaking.

You got your fancy portrait. No need to gate keep perks.

Ah yes. You suffered, so everyone else should too. Amazing.

Wouldnt you like for the rest of the people to not endure what we had to? I work shift and it SUCKS to such a degree non shift workers cant even start imagining what it is, its so bad I actually quit my job and Im damn sure I dont want anyone to suffer what I had to.

"How dare newer players have it easier than me! It's not fair!!"
Newer players have to catch up more than you did. You started with a lot less catching up to do. If you came at the end of 2017 you had 10 killers and 11 survivors to level up that's tripled now.
You're one of those people who see the trolley problem and say "keep running people over, it's not fair to the people already ran over" aren't you?

Bad take. Grind is stupid long, it's getting reduced and will encourage new players to play. Sad crab in the bucket mentality.
What I will definitely agree with you on though is that the amount of prestige points you get for your characters should simply be based on the amount of bloodpoints spent on that character. It's honestly stupid that someone maining a killer who has like 2k iri addons gets prestige capped at 9 this update, instead of jumping straight to presumably, prestige 100. That's a big mistake imo. Really lame take from BHVR to make it based on Perk Tiers. I mean do they not have tracking for how many BP has been spent per character? That's amateurish.

Congratulations on your achievement.

You're right OP, I think you need an extra special reward for your hard work

If anything, this is not good enough. I was lead to believe our progress would count regardless of bloodweb. But now we need to prestige? Nah, screw that. I will just keep grinding the traditional way, I am already more or less caught up anyway. But then they nerfed BBQ just to try and force my hand. I do not care though, I am not about to lose my items because they are incompetent.

There are 59 characters that you have to level to 50 to get to prestige 1, which will unlock all the teachable perks (you still need to level normally to get all the general perks on 3 though) on tier 3.
That will still be about 88.500.00 BP so it's not like you are getting it for free. Also, P1-P3 will not unlock the bloody skins anymore, so if players want them, they still have to grind for them.

you don't lose your items with the new prestige, you can't avoid it either it forces you at lvl 50

I meant the news that you have to be p1 before the patch to get p3 once the update hits live. My only prestiged killer is Sadako because I wanted to flex and p3 her day one. The rest are p0. So, as far as I am aware, I will not be getting tier 3 perks for all my killers even though most of them could have gone well beyond p3.

There's catchup for how many perk tiers each character has as a separate thing to the previous prestige upgrade mechanic. each tier of a perk counts for one point, with different cutoffs determining how many free prestiges you'll get. So most of them should get at least P1 or P2 for free if you don't do anything.
With killers i've been going back and forth on which ones to p1 and nuke their addons, or keep them as is to not lose those and have them at least have their tier 1 or 2 perks out of the way.

People have this crazy tendency to want everyone to have to suffer they way they did, because it's not fair to them that others might have it better. You see it everywhere, unfortunately.
That's not how progress works.
I spent countless hours getting all the perks on almost all of my characters, but I'm not mad over the fact that would be much easier under the current (new) system and new players won't have to grind so much, because that would be petty.

They are still doing the catch-up mechanic based on perk tiers. Their latest update just added an additional bonus prestige level if you were already at P1, P2, or P3.
For each character, you will automatically get prestige levels based on the number of perks on that character:
- 70+ perk tiers (a perk at tier III counts as 3 perk tiers): 1 prestige level
- 120+ perk tiers: 2 prestige levels
- 170+ perk tiers: 3 prestige levels
- 220+ perk tiers: 4 prestige levels
- etc.

The fact that people who P1 will get all the perks is not a mistake.
The fact that your efforts are not going to be recognized properly is, though. That you should be complaining about.

They're basically making the game more accessible to casual players while disregarding that mess that we've been sorting out for years. It kind of makes ya feel like time was wasted. At least give us something for enduring the mistake that they're correcting, I guess? I was fine with the way things were. Furthermore, it seems like people on the forums complain about the more casual players and the new system will invite them with open arms. It would be funny if they got rid of the dc penalty to appease new and casual players.
