Oni mastery 2.0- week 3
Nope, not abandoning these posts just yet.
A mix of my own frustrations with the game and things happening in my personal life (and valorant) have kept me away from Dbd, and even after that I stayed away from Oni because of the blood orb bug, until I didn’t. But today I’m back to bring you another post about my attempt to master Oni- now featuring derusting!
For progress, I pretty much had to refresh on everything I had learned prior, so as I result I couldn’t really improve upon things that I was struggling on at the time. This post will mainly focus on things that have less to do with the mechanics of Oni’s power and more about game sense.
First of all, I’ve been struggling immensely against teams that simply play incredibly safe before I can get my power. Is there anything at all that I can do about that?
Secondly, what perk builds do you guys recommend for Oni? I have one that I like a lot but honestly I’d love to mix it up.
Thats all for this post, sorry if it’s not much.

Safe teams are basically oni’s cryptonite. Scott used Monitor and abuse on him to try to get closer before they run and to combo with infections so that’s a great option.
Otherwise know when to leave chase and try to get good pallets out of the way quick. Force them into short pallets as well by breaking pallets at a specific side

Monitor and Lethal are two perks that could combo well. Lets you know where survivors are immediately to get your power and give survivors less time to react to your presence. The game starts flowing once he gets his power so taking two perk slots to ease the beginning isn't so bad. I've noticed that once you start gaining hooks, Plaything helps you sneak up on survivors with your power even more.

Monitor & Abuse, Infectious Fright, No Way Out and Brutal Strengh
Thats my build

M&A + Infectious Fright combo is so good on Oni.

As said by other people already, Lethal has given me the most success in guessing which survivor I should go for first. I either try to choose someone who isn't around strong map areas, or areas where there are multiple survivors.
When I know there's multiple survivors in an area, I try to pretend I'm stupid and oblivious so I can get a cheeky hit on someone hiding behind a box. Obviously, this doesn't work in most of the games you'll face, but sometimes pretending to be hyper focused on someone else and do a quick 90 degree turn to hit Jake behind the rock can throw off the average survivor.
If I don't feel like running a super strong build, I sometimes run forced penance on Oni because it gives me time where they drop blood for free or prevents them from healing if I need to pop my power. Just a fun perk to run.
Glad you're still doing this, almost forgot you were mastering the Oni. Good luck!

You listed only three perks, forever destroying the hopes and dreams of those of us wanting a full build, I hope you feel ashamed of yourself jk lol

It's up to the readers' interpretation and deepest desires to summon the fourth perk 😤

"The game starts flowing once you get your power..."... I don't know :v I am obviously not the best Oni player, but when I get my power, the survivors either immerse themselves or run their loops so tight that I can't catch up or just hit trees and rocks. Git gud, I guess ^^
For real though, when Oni gets a run, he really gets it running in the most brutal way. But I stumble over his power so often and just waste it. Always feels like such a shame.
